We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is reliable and easy to use (user-friendly). The heat mapping, passive network surveying, and doing the heat mapping of a building's wireless network allows me to see what level of coverage an area has.""It allows us to prepare more real designs. Later, we validate them with actual surveys.""We use the solution for Wi-Fi and networks.""The addition of the AirMapper software on the nXG and our AirCheck G2s has helped a lot because we're mostly not drilling down into the data. Local managers only need to see the coverage on their end and whether there are performance bottlenecks. These things are easy enough for us to ascertain with iPerf.""The most valuable features are the survey, spectrum analysis, and reporting.""The most valuable feature is the predictive survey. The antennas' RF patterns are reflected correctly on the drawing when preparing predictive heat maps.""The benefit is with the ease of use of the software, I am able to show the customer, "Here is what your wireless coverage looks like." It is set up in a fashion that non-technical people can understand it.""The predictive survey is the most valuable feature. I use it quite often."

"Denies inter-user traffic: It easily blocks traffic between users.""The initial setup is straightforward. Configure one IAP and all the rest self-configure to that one.""It has very flexible features.""Although there are other solutions available and some with a lower initial cost, they don't offer the same level of integration with IoT as this solution without having to add additional hardware, which ends up costing more.""The web-based GUI is much simpler to use than similar products by Cisco.""APs are very easy to configure to the network once they contact the controller.""The feature that I love the most is being able to broadcast different SSIDs with different protocol requirements. ""I have found the most valuable features are the new Wi-Fi six technology and it also integrates with triple-A solutions. It has good bandwidth and virtual control."

More Aruba Wireless Pros →

"This is the only solution in the world that gives you a digital resilience score.""RedSeal integrates the network and gives us a visual or graphical overview of our network. If an organization is geographically dispersed, for instance, with one office in Canada and one office in the Philippines, the whole network, including all devices, is integrated into RedSeal, and you can see from where the traffic is going in and out.""The most valuable features are network mapping and configuration."

Cons
"The user interface needs a lot of improvement. The auto-placement of access points is not accurate.""AirMagnet Survey doesn't cover certain devices in the system.""Less time consumed doing the real surveys.""Printouts are JPEG printouts. The AirMagnet software is proprietary. I can't send my customers a file, because it is AirMagnet file, even for building projects. I can only send JPEGs or screenshots of heat maps.""When you conduct an active survey and then want to use it for design work, it's actually not very useful.""It'd be nice if it was cheaper, however, you get value for your money.""But it's definitely a more expensive solution than other ones.""It would be nice to have some more training resources for younger techs. We can use them if we need some assistance, but that usually requires one of us who knows what we're doing to calibrate the programs properly."

More AirMagnet Survey Cons →

"The management system would be better if it were more polished, if it had a better interface like, for example, Meraki""The latest design of their APs removes the console port and requires purchasing an expensive proprietary cable just to access the console.""We need security features to recognize the traffic source and to apply Zero Trust security.""The logging is hard to read when troubleshooting issues.""Aruba Wireless could improve the interface, it does not have a smart web interface. Other solutions have smart web interfaces, such as Cisco Meraki.""The solution could be more user-friendly.""If you want a centralized management system that is able to manage all your networking devices such as the wireless, the switch, the routers, and the firewall, then Aruba may not be the one, because Aruba doesn't do firewalls.""MAC authentication against an external Radius server while using 802.1X. This feature will help the L2 devices to authenticate via external Radius servers."

More Aruba Wireless Cons →

"One of the areas of concern is the GUI. It is important to our customers that the GUI looks beautiful. It's a Java Client, so you have a Java dependency.""The dashboard should be improved to make correlating data easier to do.""Sometimes, it required us to refresh the configuration. When we integrated any of the configurations into the device, sometimes, it could not detect the exact picture of that device. So, we had to reset the device to see that if it was giving true-positive results or false-positive results. In some cases, we were not able to get true-positive results. There was some kind of bug in that version. Its interface is not user-friendly and needs to be improved. It takes time to understand the interface and various options. Skybox has quite a user-friendly interface. They could provide a feature for compliance audit policy if it is already not there. A compliance audit policy ensures that all configurations are based on the best practices standards, such as CIS benchmarks standard or other similar standards. It provides visibility about whether your device configuration is based on best practices or not. Usually, such a feature is provided by other solutions such as Meteor or Tenable Nessus."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The moment we began needing more of the vendor's support, the cost became very high; we switched to another solution."
  • "For technical support, you need an annual license, but it is not worth it."
  • "The pricing needs improvement."
  • "This product is very expensive."
  • "There is an annual cost of the solution. There are some additional charges, such as support and maintenance."
  • "The tool's pricing is medium."

  • "Partner had been using Cisco. They switched to Aruba, because of price and functionality, also with an option for adding a SW, like AirWave, Meridian, ClearPass, and Central."
  • "Pricing is very competitive."
  • "Pricing support has always been cost-effective."
  • "Licensing is a one time purchase (only the cloud license has to be renewed, which is worth trying out)."
  • "We will be buying the ClearPass solution, which will be pricey. However, in the trial version, it has even more tools to manage a busy network."
  • "There is so much licensing, you literally pay for every solution, add-on, or cool feature. Compared to others, we were in the middle with pricing, but as you start to invest more into features it will get very pricey."
  • "Trial different solutions and compare pricing to how well they perform, their stability, how easy it is to maintain, etc."
  • "Licencing can be surprising and needs improvement. Look into all features, what you need versus what you want, and know that nothing comes without some kind of license."

  • "The pricing is based on the number of endpoints and devices, and we have seen it range from mid-five figures to low six figures."
