Site building has become faster and code deployments are managed smoothly across environments
Pros and Cons
  • "Because for every new site that I have to spin up, it uses the same governed components, it makes it faster, launches with zero brand drift, and editors never need a developer for day-to-day page building."
  • "Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) can be improved because sometimes it takes a lot of time."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) includes code deployment using Acquia Cloud. I have used it for Acquia DAM to manage my assets and Site Studio to manage my multiple sites.

A specific example of how I used Acquia Cloud for deployment is that Acquia Cloud handles code deployment. We have dev, stage, and prod environments. To deploy properly from local, we deploy to dev, and then we manage it across these environments. In that way, we use the pipelines. It becomes quite easy when you use Acquia Cloud that way.

My main use cases with Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) are DAM, Acquia Cloud, and Site Studio.

What is most valuable?

In my opinion, one of the best features Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) offers is Site Studio. Because for every new site that I have to spin up, it uses the same governed components. It makes it faster, launches with zero brand drift, and editors never need a developer for day-to-day page building.

Site Studio helps my team launch sites faster because, for example, when I have a new site from the client that needs to be added as a sub-site into the main branch, I don't have to do much. I can use the existing base and speed up the process by using it. It makes it really easy for me to do that with Site Studio. Sometimes it can be a little tricky, but in my case, it makes the process a little bit faster.

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) has positively impacted my organization because it eased the process.

What needs improvement?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) can be improved because sometimes it takes a lot of time. It needs a little bit of optimization. That is what I have faced some of the time, and that can be improved.

Regarding the needed improvements, I would say speed and page load time. Page load time is an area that can be improved.

There are other improvements I think Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) needs. Regarding optimization, there is room for improvement. The UI can be improved at the end-user end as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for around three to four years.

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is stable 90 to 95 percent of the time.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is good. Most of the time they are really easy to approach. Sometimes it gets a little tricky.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not previously used a different solution because we are using Acquia for the time being. I was not a part of it when it was selected, so I cannot say much.

What was our ROI?

With Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), I can say that it definitely saved time. With time, it saved our money.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing, I will say I don't have experience with that because I think the sales team and the higher-ups were mostly looking into it. I was not a part of it and joined much later.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), I evaluated other options because there were options, such as Pantheon and others. However, I think Acquia was a good choice, so we opted for that.

What other advice do I have?

The advice I would give to others looking into using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is that it's a positive experience. If you have large, enterprise-based websites, you can opt for it, and it will be a good purchase. However, if you have a very small site or a smaller solution, I don't think it's optimal given the price, as it's a little steeper. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

Marketers have gained low‑code control and now build personalized journeys that boost conversions
Pros and Cons
  • "After migrating to DXP, the results were dramatic, including a 70-plus percent increase in conversion rate and a 30-plus percent increase in online booking revenue."
  • "One of the improvements needed for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) involves platform sizing and pricing transparency, which is the most consistent complaint I have seen across various clients."

What is our primary use case?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) was used as an enterprise-scale platform for CMS work, especially Site Studio for low-code site building and segregating customer data into unified customer profiles and segmentations for marketing purposes.

I worked on the personalization part of the content in B2C, specifically for a financial services company that uses Acquia CDP to unify customer data from the website, mobile app, call center, and email interactions.

What is most valuable?

One of the best features Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) offers is Site Studio, which provides low-code site building for content editors without having to rely on back-end developers, and the Acquia Cloud Platform that it is hosted on.

Site Studio has specifically helped my team by being a very good low-code builder that provides a drag-and-drop visual builder that lets non-developers create pages using pre-built components, and it maps very nicely with the SDC component library approach, allowing marketers to assemble them. Site Studio is Acquia's answer to the criticism that Drupal's authoring experience lags behind competitors.

Regarding the cloud platform, it is built on the Open API framework, and performance monitoring and enterprise caching are available at all layers of the stack, with CI/CD and deployment automation via pull requests, as well as CLI tools for terminal access to every API endpoint it provides. As a Drupal developer, this is where I spend most of my time, and the branch-specific environments for PRs are particularly useful for the kind of Bitbucket pipeline workflows we build.

The positive impacts from the organization using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) are notable. After migrating to DXP, the results were dramatic, including a 70-plus percent increase in conversion rate and a 30-plus percent increase in online booking revenue. Most impressively, the drop-off rate plummeted from 82 percent to 28 percent, and content updates that previously took weeks now happen in seconds.

The increase in conversion rate and reduction in drop-off rate can be attributed to the new features and the improved user experience, with most of it being about marketers being able to assemble the pages on their own.

What needs improvement?

One of the improvements needed for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) involves platform sizing and pricing transparency, which is the most consistent complaint I have seen across various clients. The way Acquia sizes its platform for customers is described as ambiguous and often results in penalties after doing business. Users also note that overall cost can be high and limits accessibility for smaller businesses. Additionally, the Site Factory provisioning environment takes a lot of time, and often more environments are needed than what is available by default, requiring you to go through support and sales processes. For teams handling CI/CD pipelines and needing fast environment spin-ups, this lag is a real bottleneck.

Support gaps exist since support follows standard SLAs, and sometimes there are different difficulties when dealing with critical issues due to the lack of a 24/7 available team.

For how long have I used the solution?

In my current field as a Drupal developer, I have been working with Drupal development since 2014, so overall it has been around 12 years into Drupal.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) offers pretty good scalability because it provides high scalability.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is good, but I think it could be improved in terms of 24/7 availability due to the people being spread across different regions.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Layout Builder, and we eventually moved to Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for a better enterprise experience.

How was the initial setup?

I did not purchase Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) directly through the AWS Marketplace. There was a sales team involved, and they contacted the Acquia team, which seems to be the channel used for the sales process.

What about the implementation team?

We evaluated other options before choosing Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP).

What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment since earlier we relied heavily on developers on an ongoing basis. When we wanted to rearrange components within the templates, we had to rely on tickets, and more developers were needed. Now, it is a one-time activity, allowing more marketers to simply assemble the components as they need.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing, I do not have a clear idea since it is more around the sales team's questions, and because I worked on the enterprise platform, it was not clear with the technical team about the pricing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated other options before choosing Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP).

What other advice do I have?

My advice for others looking into using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is to definitely use it if they have an enterprise customer or client who wants to get real usage from the CMS work along with the CDP and low-code site building, which will be beneficial for them if they switch to Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP). I have rated this product an 8 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Platform has accelerated multi-site delivery and supports rapid reuse of components and templates
Pros and Cons
  • "Before using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), we might manage two projects a year, but now we can deliver four to five projects and provide more features for each client."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is that I have primarily used Acquia Site Studio and Site Factory. Site Factory is an Acquia product itself, where we manage the sites, including creating the site, managing the site URL, clearing the cache, logging, user addition, and everything related to the site. In one place, you can manage a lot of sites. It is easy to manage many partner sites, especially when a company has a lot of them. My client had many partner sites, which is why I use Site Factory to manage those. For each site, we use Site Studio. Site Studio provides default components and templates, allowing you to have many options and features to create, customize components, and templates, and reuse them to build pages across other sites as well. This makes site creation faster and easier to maintain. Because of these reasons, we opted for those, and I have delivered two projects with these tools.

Acquia Site Factory and Site Studio helped my team manage multiple sites by allowing us to build a corporate site entirely, after which we reused the components from the corporate site in the partner sites. We reused everything, which is how Acquia Site Factory helped us. You can create a new site with the same profile; for a corporate site, you can use a different profile, and for a partner site, you can use another. The user interface in Site Factory allows you to see those options. Once the corporate site was ready and the profiles were divided, we just clicked to create a new site, named it, set the URL, and selected the needed profile. With that, many predefined components and templates associated with that profile came along. We then revamped the site using the style guide, which specifies a specific logo and colors for each partner site. The site will be ready in about twenty to thirty minutes using these profiles and components.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) offers include good documentation, which provides a lot of guides to help when you are new. If my company partners with Acquia, they offer training and sessions. If I encounter issues, they will quickly resolve them and give feedback regarding what went wrong, which is helpful support. The predefined components and templates make it easier to maintain the site, and the style guide and style guide managers are also really helpful.

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) has positively impacted my organization by enabling us to create sites pretty quickly. We are able to deliver many clients swiftly. Before using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), we might manage two projects a year, but now we can deliver four to five projects and provide more features for each client. Previously, time restrictions were a constraint, but now we can deliver much more within a limited time.

    What needs improvement?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is improving in various ways, particularly with AI, as everything is now related to AI. The Drupal community is also contributing to AI. Acquia primarily uses Drupal, so they are also making moves in that direction.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for roughly around two and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) has good scalability. They provide end-to-end support, managing everything from the database to load management and caching services, allowing for quick scaling. When we delivered thirty-two sites, the increased load was managed effectively, making for a good experience with scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support of Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is good. Whenever we have issues or questions, we raise a ticket, and they quickly respond with helpful links to explore.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used to work with a different solution, specifically plain core Drupal, where we used Paragraph modules or normal PHP templating, which took a lot of time. When I switched to Acquia Site Studio and Site Factory, the process simplified significantly; I can perform most tasks without coding by utilizing the user interface. This improvement has been very effective.

    What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment from using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP). Delivering thirty-two sites in a year directly saves a lot of money. The management of sites and everything involved reduces the number of engineers needed to build it as well, so it has definitely been beneficial. They provide end-to-end services, including hosting, caching, cloud, database, and asset management, which are significant advantages.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing with Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is limited, as I am not too involved in the pricing aspect; a separate team handles it due to our partner status. I have heard it was a little high, but I do not have the specific details.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), I was not the decision maker, but other options evaluated included Adobe Experience Manager and Sitecore.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for others looking into using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is to first go through the official documentation. If you are a partner, take advantage of the training provided before diving in. I would rate Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Building tailored digital journeys has become faster and improves our team delivery quality
    Pros and Cons
    • "One of the platform's key strengths is its ability to unify content management, personalization, and customer data into a single experience layer, enabling my team to build highly tailored digital journeys across multiple channels for enterprise websites like the one I work for, as well as e-commerce integrations and customer portals."

What is our primary use case?

I have been using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for approximately one and a half to two years.

I typically use Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for tools such as Acquia Cloud, Site Studio, and website hosting, as well as for development practices including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.

Most of my use with Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is with Site Studio, where I use it to build prototypes and web pages. My full website revolves around Site Studio. I also use the CI/CD and hosting capabilities so that I can deploy website changes, and Acquia takes care of all the CI/CD, testing, and hosting.

Since my website is 100% built around Drupal, Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is the best place to host my website. One of the platform's key strengths is its ability to unify content management, personalization, and customer data into a single experience layer, enabling my team to build highly tailored digital journeys across multiple channels for enterprise websites like the one I work for, as well as e-commerce integrations and customer portals.

      What is most valuable?

In my opinion, the best features Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) offers are website hosting, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing capabilities, and flexible deployment workflows because those are the tools I use most on a daily basis.

The deployment workflows in Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) are very easy to use. We have an integration with Jenkins where we make a build to create an artifact, and then we deploy to Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) and all the pipeline runs there.

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is very easy to use, and all of the team can perform well while using it. It is really accessible for all team members, so we have people working with front-end and Site Studio, and developers working with CI/CD pipelines.

The ease of use and the accessible log tools of Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) make the team faster to debug things and deploy changes to the client website, so it really helps us. It is really easy to use and very useful.

      What needs improvement?

With Site Studio, Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) could be less coupled to the module itself. It should be more modular and decoupled.

Every tool I use from Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is very good, and I have not identified any other improvements needed beyond what I have already mentioned.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for approximately one and a half to two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is stable with up to 99.9% uptime, and none of the updates so far have caused any trouble to the team. It is really stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) handles growth and increasing demands well. I do not really need scalability on a daily basis, but in the times I needed it, it was really good.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is very nice. I would rate it a 10 out of 10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used to use PSH, but I decided to migrate to Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) because it is easier to use and integrates better with Drupal. It is 100% Drupal.

I migrated from PSH to Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) without evaluating other options.

      What was our ROI?

I do not have a specific answer regarding return on investment, but my team is agile, and I can see that working with competitors like PSH before, Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is much more accessible for the team. It helps improve delivery time and quality.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for others looking into using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is that it is a robust and scalable digital experience platform that stands out for its strong integration with Drupal, its cloud-native architecture, and from a developer's perspective, it provides a well-structured ecosystem that supports modern development practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and flexible deployment workflows. One of the key strengths is its ability to unify content management, personalization, and customer data into a single experience layer, enabling my team to build highly tailored digital journeys with less time, very fast delivery, and higher quality in all deliveries. I gave Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) an overall review rating of 10 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Global content delivery has become faster and manages multi-country web services efficiently
      Pros and Cons
      • "Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) has positively impacted my organization by improving speed to market, where opening up a new country allowed us to put the content together very rapidly, reducing the time from a good three months previously down to six to eight weeks."
      • "One area where Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) can be improved is the cost structure, as it's quite an expensive solution for what it is."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is enterprise web services to support multiple countries, including UK, France, Germany, and the USA.

A specific example of how I'm using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for these enterprise web services is that the goal was to migrate from a ccTLD model to a gTLD model to support multiple countries where previously there was only one website. In addition to that, it was also to embed a PIM and a DAM, which we also did.

      What is most valuable?

The best features Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) offers in my experience were the synergy with the PIM and the DAM that appealed. The integration there was the main thing for me. Again, from my point of view, I was more about strategy as opposed to implementation.

The integration between the PIM and DAM worked for my organization by creating an ecosystem where you plug the data into the PIM and it's syndicated across Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP). It was almost having one entry populate the various repositories that makes a global approach simple.

Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) has positively impacted my organization by improving speed to market. Opening up a new country allowed us to put the content together very rapidly.

The speed to market improved significantly in that it would have taken a good three months to get going previously. With Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), I would say that was reduced down to six to eight weeks.

      What needs improvement?

One area where Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) can be improved is the cost structure, as it's quite an expensive solution for what it is.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In my experience, Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is stable.

How are customer service and support?

Overall, customer support with Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) was positive; we received rapid responses to queries and account management support as well.

I would rate the customer support on a scale of one to ten as a nine.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), I previously used a very simple WordPress solution, and I needed something more dynamic and enterprise-based.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was pretty seamless. It was all clear, it was very transparent, and we signed up to a three-year deal.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), we did evaluate other options, including Optimizely.

What other advice do I have?

Regarding my main use case with Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), the only issue around migration was a technical error which was admitted, and that was the SSL certificates weren't managed effectively, so some of the sites weren't live and they couldn't migrate with ease. They weren't a seamless transition, but it was quickly detected.

My advice to others looking into using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is that if you want something that has a simple, seamless, feature-rich solution, Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) would be it. I actually delegated the decision making to my team and that was their decision.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Great digital DXP platform with asset management features and personalization tools but has unclear platform sizing
      Pros and Cons
      • "One of the most valuable aspects is working with a recognized firm, which sometimes surpasses the commercial and marketing requirements for big customers."
      • "One area for improvement is the way Acquia sizes their platform for customers, which can be quite ambiguous and often results in penalties after doing business."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) to develop sites and apps in the financial customer and retail sectors. We also work with big brand sites. We use the platform to build websites, mobile applications, solutions for digital asset management, and marketing campaigns.

How has it helped my organization?

The main advantage of using Acquia’s platform is the opportunity to work with a recognized firm, which gives us extensive commercial and marketing support.

However, there have been some structural issues within our organization that have led to changes and restructuring, which impacted our use of certain tools within the platform.

      What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable aspects is working with a recognized firm, which sometimes surpasses the commercial and marketing requirements for big customers.

Additionally, they offer useful digital asset management features and personalization tools, although there have been compatibility issues.

      What needs improvement?

One area for improvement is how Acquia sizes its platform for customers, which can be ambiguous and often results in penalties after doing business.

Issues with defining site requests and visits are not standard in the market. They also need to improve their support and technical advisory services. The manuals provided lacked clear and complete information.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the solution since 2017.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In three years, there was only one incident involving downtime of about forty-five minutes with a Bank, which was quickly resolved. Otherwise, the stability was quite commendable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is a challenging aspect due to some mysterious elements in the platform’s design. Minimizing issues was sometimes encouraged, which was not ideal. Scaling might mean increasing capacity or decreasing it, and this last, is the complex part.

How are customer service and support?

They are usually okay, and depending on the complexity of the ticket, we can reach good experts who are far from the CX knowledge base. However, once we had customer support service in Latin America, we faced unprofessional attitudes as tech advisors. Despite participating in advisory meetings, the experience with this particular was less supportive than expected.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had previously been developing on Drupal CMS before switching to Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP).

      How was the initial setup?

Our first steps in 2017 were complex since we subscribed to an ambitious and complete DXP project with several modules for a mature customer. Now, we are very familiar with most of the platforms, and we have updated the Acquia methodology with our Agile way of work and always suggest approaching step by step your paint points while the customer adopts the expertise needed for the next step.

      What about the implementation team?

We have implemented Acquia first for ourselves and then as a service to several customers—more than 7 customers with more than 45 sites, directories, apps, and digital signings.

      What was our ROI?

On highly demanding traffic sites of large organizations with several digital channels, different brands, or assets that need to be healthy governance by efficient teams concerned with what they publish, the quality of the information, and the performance of their digital products, the ROI is over 40%/Y or hight when you quantify the easy and quick to go life with any modification.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is considered expensive compared to other vendors, but you have to make your own TCO calculations to understand its value. The service model is based on the demand, the level of SLA needed, and the other services the customers need to build and program for any digital products. Sometimes, the Platform Sellers want to quote you everything you possibly need, and we advise you to ramp up as you need the subscription as a preferred strategy to avoid wasting costs on features that your customers are not prepared to use.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, as part of the company process, we are always looking at the strengths and weaknesses of the market offer to advise our customers and develop skills around them. I have been involved in integrating and developing Oracle's Colud application for Digital Experience and Customer Experience, Adobe AEM and the Marketing Suits, and several others for several years. Technology is becoming a commodity per-ce in its features and capabilities, especially if it is a SAAS or PAAS solution, a trend in the last few years. So, the main difference is how they compile for the market you are in and how well their value satisfies your customers' needs.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend the product, as it fits well with specific dimensions and needs, depending on the customer and company's needs. However, it might be challenging for others with strong Microsoft, Google or similar product affiliations.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten, more for the company policy and unclear partnership with the integrators than for the technical aspects of the solution, which is higher than 7.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Disclosure: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer. We are an Acquia Strategy partner with vast experience in Spanish-speaking countries. We have developed digital products with the Acquia DXP Platform for Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, and Chile. We have also provided support to some US corporations in English.

Centralized website management enhanced by flexible content and seamless deployment
      Pros and Cons
      • "Content Hub provides a centralized way to manage content."
      • "In Site Factory, the provisioning of environments can take time."

What is our primary use case?

The usual use case is for the customer to have a centralized way to manage their websites. We manage multiple websites, sometimes with different types, plus some customers also have products they want to showcase. We manage these websites using Acquia DXP.

How has it helped my organization?

Acquia DXP offers the tools to make it easier to maintain, manage, and deploy websites in a centralized way for multiple channels.

      What is most valuable?

The features of DXP that are most valuable include Acquia Site Factory, which allows for the management and creation of websites, offering a UI for managing the process of creating and deploying the websites. Additionally, Content Hub provides a centralized way to manage content.

      What needs improvement?

There are areas where Acquia DXP could be improved. For example, in Site Factory, the provisioning of environments can take time. You often need more environments than what's available by default, which requires going through support and sales processes. Having more stacks available by default would be beneficial. With Content Hub, there are issues with certain types of design and content incorporation, so more flexibility is needed.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using DXP from 2020 to 2024.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are not many issues, and Acquia uses a mailing list to communicate when there are problems. They also provide a status page to check the availability of solutions. They communicate about platform maintenance, and typically there is no action needed on our side.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Acquia DXP has high scalability because it is built on AWS. It allows you to scale the solution according to your needs. You can configure some aspects yourself on the cloud platform, and for specific needs, you might need to go through support.

How are customer service and support?

The support is normal, offering standard SLAs. When creating critical issues, a follow-up is needed on your side. Sometimes there are difficulties when dealing with critical issues due to the lack of a 24/7 available team. However, they are responsive and provide guidance.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Neutral

      How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not the easiest stack to set up initially. That said, it is well documented. For an experienced developer, the setup would be relatively straightforward and rated as a nine.

What other advice do I have?

For anyone evaluating this solution, it's important to have senior developers and senior people working with it, as junior developers may struggle with the setup. Having the right people on board is essential for enterprise projects.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Public Cloud

Seamless global website management with robust design support
      Pros and Cons
      • "Every user is almost like a mini administrator, which spoke well to how they were connected globally."
      • "Once the site was originally developed, it needed to be transferred onto Acquia, which was quite a task."

What is our primary use case?

I was an Assistant Dean for Online Education at the School of Engineering. We used Acquia Digital Experience Platform for handling our website, flex space dot org. It is a free and open website of learning space exemplars that is available globally.

How has it helped my organization?

Acquia kept our website running flawlessly. Despite being a complex website used globally, it was stable and transparent for me. We had uninterrupted service and the site never went down.

      What is most valuable?

Acquia was able to support everything our designer came up with. Every user is almost like a mini administrator, which spoke well to how they were connected globally.

      What needs improvement?

Once the site was originally developed, it needed to be transferred onto Acquia, which was quite a task. There were challenges whenever Drupal changed its version, as we had to ensure everything still worked.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Acquia for several years. It has been more than two years because we were running FlexSpace on it.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, it was pretty good. We had uninterrupted service and the site never went down.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It scaled as the user base grew, and there were no problems allowing for expansion.

How are customer service and support?

Their support team was outstanding. I had a consistent portfolio person to call when issues arose. Acquia takes good care of their employees as the point of contact changed only once or twice over the years.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Positive

      How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was tricky as it involved a lot of information to move over to Acquia. Every time Drupal changed its version, we had to ensure everything continued to work seamlessly.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Acquia was part of a university-wide contract through SUNY, and they were very competitive in pricing. Education always seeks the most value for the dollar spent.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at multiple website hosting services.

What other advice do I have?

Acquia's support platform is commendable. Having a consistent point of contact made any issues manageable, and I would recommend the product to others.

I'd rate the solution ten out of ten.
