A flexible and stable solution with a lot of out-of-the-box functionalities and good value for money
Pros and Cons
  • "It provides a lot of out-of-the-box functionalities. You don't have to do too much custom development like other solutions such as Microsoft or NetIQ. It also has a lot of out-of-the-box connectors for different sources, directories, databases, etc. Its cloud version is working very well, and its pricing is okay. Its value for money is fine for most of the customers. It is also very flexible. They have frequent new releases and patches for fixing errors and things like that."
  • "They can work on their strategy for the on-premise version. They have to decide whether and for how long they will support the on-premise version. The new features first appear in the cloud, and after that, they are released for the on-premise version. In the cloud, you have more options and flexibility, which is absolutely normal. They have to have a clear strategy regarding whether they'll support the on-premises version with the same focus. The licensing for on-premise and cloud is a little bit different. They can make it the same."

What is our primary use case?

There are a lot of use cases. About 90% of our clients are using this solution for internal identity management. Only one client is using SailPoint for external customers.

About 70% or 80% of deployments are on the cloud, and about 30% or 20% of deployments are on-premise. We have two customers who have on-premise deployments.

What is most valuable?

It provides a lot of out-of-the-box functionalities. You don't have to do too much custom development like other solutions such as Microsoft or NetIQ. It also has a lot of out-of-the-box connectors for different sources, directories, databases, etc.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is absolutely stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. It can support tens of millions of identities. We have a total of nine clients. Eight clients use it internally. One client is using SailPoint for external customers, and it is a very large deployment. They have about a million and a half customers.

We do not offer support because support is provided by SailPoint, but we can act as the first line of support. We have around seven people who are actively doing SailPoint tasks.

How are customer service and support?

Their support is very good. My colleagues, as well as our customers, have shared that the support is very good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had some experience with Microsoft and IBM in the past, but these solutions are not so good. They're very expensive, and Microsoft and IBM are not flexible in pricing.

We decided to go with SailPoint because, as a company, they are flexible. Their partner discounts are also good. SailPoint is a really good company. It is a new generation company like some of the other competitors and vendors.

How was the initial setup?

Its installation is easy, but it depends on how many and what types of identity sources you have. If you have well-defined sources, such as active directory, LDAP directory, or some other application directories, it is very easy, but if you have only databases with identities, it could be challenging. It is not always easy to deploy identity management solutions in organizations because there are too many identity sources that have to be integrated.

The deployment duration depends on the scale, complexity, and number of sources. Typically, in enterprise organizations, it could take from six to nine months to cover the whole organization. It can even take a year. For customers with less than 20,000 or 30,000 active users, you can deploy it in less than three months.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Its price is okay. It provides good value for money.

It is subscription-based. You can go for a one-year or three-year subscription.

What other advice do I have?

I would absolutely recommend this product. It is a good product.

I would rate SailPoint IdentityIQ a nine out of ten.

Great features with many large-scale connectors; very good flexibility
Pros and Cons
  • "Good life cycle management, segregation of duties, and analytics features."
  • "One needs to understand that SailPoint is into full-fledged IAM practice with a long-term vision, and customers will get a quick ROI with best practices implementation."

What is our primary use case?

The use case is different for each client but most companies are generally looking for compliance, password management and user life cycle management. We have a partnership with SailPoint and implement this solution for our customers. I'm a senior manager.

What is most valuable?

I like the life cycle management, segregation of duties, and analytics features. They have very good, large-scale connectors. The solution enables a high level of flexibility in customization. SailPoint is a leader in its field and has a long-term product development view.

What needs improvement?

The product is very good and doesn't have many limitations and is very easy to deploy. You will need an SME Team for Deployment and to bring an ROI.

One needs to understand that SailPoint is into full-fledged IAM practice with a long-term vision, and customers will get a quick ROI with best practices implementation.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been implementing these solutions since 2015 and SailPoint is a wonderful product, it covers all the features required and the best part is it has both on-prem and SaaS models available. Our customers are very happy and have gained an ROI.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable, the majority of our customers are enterprise-size companies.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is wonderful.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. There are no challenges with the implementation.  The deployment strategy depends upon the kind of applications you want to integrate. Implementation time is based purely on your number of connectors, the kinds of applications, and the user environment.

What other advice do I have?

It's important to look at the product and its functionalities. Technology is a continuous journey, and if you want to have an identity management program, then SailPoint is a good option. They have a long-term vision that a company like Microsoft does not have. If somebody wants to have a good product for the long term then IdentityIQ provides that.

I rate this product 10 out of 10.

Great features, lots of use cases, and offers a single source of truth
Pros and Cons
  • "It offers a single source of truth. Everything can be handled from one tier."
  • "The user interface could be slightly improved. It could be made simpler and more user-friendly, however, it is good enough right now."

What is our primary use case?

The product is for identity management.

What is most valuable?

There are lots of features. It depends on what your use cases are. Basically, how the entitlements are handled is very good. It's the complete lifecycle of entitlements. That is what the best feature is about the product.

It offers a single source of truth. Everything can be handled from one tier.

I focused on the functionality. We needed to implement everything properly, and those functionalities were pre-built in the product. We didn't have an issue in that sense.

The interface is simple and very usable. I have used other products and didn't see their interface as better than SailPoint.

The product is stable.

It is scalable.

What needs improvement?

I wouldn't be able to point out any shortcomings. Right now, also I'm not working on the product as much.

The user interface could be slightly improved. It could be made simpler and more user-friendly, however, it is good enough right now.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for more than a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good.

How are customer service and support?

We only used support for a few months initially and they were very, very good. There was no problem at that time. After that, we are on our own. We have our own experts. They have been experts in SailPoint for a long, long time. Therefore, we are reaching out to SailPoint support directly - until and unless there is a shortcoming or a bug in the product. I have not come across any yet.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had legacy systems. That's why we moved to SailPoint.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was pretty good. We have five people that can handle deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing was taken care of by management. I don't know about the exact cost.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a customer. We have bought the product, and we are using it. It's in our organization.

I am not sure which version of the solution we're using. It might be one version behind.

Whether or not this is the right solution for others depends on your use cases. If your use cases align with those, this is the best product to use. The client that I'm working with has their use cases aligned with this solution, and we haven't had to customize much. Most of the functionality's in-built.

I'd rate the product ten out of ten. It covers the functionality we need.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

It has many valuable features however I would prefer cutting the amount of features in half to increase the stability

What is most valuable?

SailPoint started as a product for certification and governance. This is their most mature module and the first portion of the tool my clients want to implement.

But other valuable features are the strong user interface, quick ability to stand up solution, and many out of box connector.

How has it helped my organization?

This product, when implemented correctly, can streamline access control operations, reduce risk by provisioning and de-provisioning access quickly and hold approvers accountable for decisions on access.

What needs improvement?

There seems to be a rush to add new features in SailPoint. I would prefer cutting the amount of features in half to increase the stability, reduce the resource utilization and reduce bugs..

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IdentityIQ and other Identity and Access Management solutions for over 3 years

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

We encountered major issues with the Active Directory connector caching configurations and concurrent major release upgrades. If you are running SailPoint 5.3, you need to update to 5.5, 6.0, 6.1, and 6.2 before upgrading to 6.3, it was a mess.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Although it seems to be getting better, for each deployment it seems a new set of bugs appear. There has never been a deployment where we have not encountered a product bug. If you are looking to do a deployment it may be better to deploy on the previous version with the latest patch than with a new version (e.g. 6.2.5 instead of 6.3).

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Being based on Java, this tool is very heavy in memory and in processing. Word of advice, for large implementations be sure to use Intel processors. SailPoint supports Unix deployments, but it really is only better for smaller environments

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer Service:

SailPoint has a strong account management and support team, each company has an account manager and they are available to escalate issues quickly. Do not hesitate to escalate issues if they are time sensitive, sometimes it is tough to get their attention if something needs to be resolved quickly.

Technical Support:

Similar to customer service, the technical support is strong. It might take a few times back and forth to get them out of the “try this and send us your logs” cycle, but getting them on a WebEx or LiveMeeting is a great way to watch them shine.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The initial setup is very straight forward and it takes around 30 minutes end to end. It is a Java app on a web server; you can do it locally very quickly.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straight forward and it takes around 30 minutes end to end. It is a Java app on a web server so you can do it locally and very quickly.

What about the implementation team?

We have had deployments with combinations of consultants, vendor hours(~200), and in house teams. The vendor help has always been very good, albeit sometimes you may get a fresh college graduate as an expert.

What was our ROI?

We achieve two returns in the investment in a SailPoint implementation. We were able to streamline access control related business processes and reduce identity management and access control risks, including potential audit/regulatory findings.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The other major players in the Identity Management space are Oracle OIM/OIA, Aveska and CA Technologies Identity Management. We had evaluated all via a vendor scorecard.

What other advice do I have?

It is very difficult to go at this alone. If you are interested in implementing send your engineers to the SailPoint provisioning training and get a few experienced consultants to help you.

Scalable access governance system that removes manual approvals and makes teams more productive
Pros and Cons
  • "This solution has made our team more effective. We need less manual approvals when someone new joins our company. There is less paperwork and fewer support tickets raised for access."
  • "The cost of this solution is high. The technical assistance center could be improved. They're very good, but considering the intricacies of the solution, they can further improve."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for identity governance and to understand who has access to what and whether that access should be granted or not. We also use it for access to recertification automation which provides a complete report of who has what access in the organization at the press of a button. We are able to automate the entire process of joiners, movers, levers and the provisioning and deprovisioning of identities.

When someone joins any organization, all their roles and access is provided at the click of a button. When they move from one department to the other, the accesses which are not required are revoked, and the ones which are necessary are provisioned. Sailpoint offers complete automation of the lifecycle of any user.

We are able to offer on-prem on cloud based deployments, depending on our customer's requirements.

How has it helped my organization?

This solution has made our team more effective. We need less manual approvals when someone new joins our company. There is less paperwork and fewer support tickets raised for access.

What is most valuable?

The number of integrations that they have is amazing. The flexibility of the tool is great and you can really customize a lot. The dashboards that can be created are very useful. The proactive revoking of accesses in the case of an attack is amazing.

What needs improvement?

The cost of this solution is high. The technical assistance center could be improved. They're very good, but considering the intricacies of the solution, they can further improve.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for six and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a very scalable solution. A couple of million users can be scaled overnight.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate this solution's technical support a three and a half out of five.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is complex due to the handling of identity and access management. If you have the expertise and if you are trained well, then it is not difficult. Deployment takes between three and twelve months.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This is an expensive solution. I would rate it a two and a half out of five for pricing.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Sailpoint to others.

I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.

Offers file access control with many integration capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "This solution is great for providing control access across your environment."
  • "I would like for the next release to have a more user-friendly interface."

What is our primary use case?

We have a central server and use SailPoint to provide us access to all user/admin accounts/files. There are a lot of integration options that we have not taken advantage of yet - it is possible that in the future, a customer will want to integrate their HR system with SailPoint.

What is most valuable?

This solution is great for providing control access across your environment.

What needs improvement?

I would like for the next release to have a more user-friendly interface.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution that is widely used because it is dominant within the industry.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution can be expanded so I would say that it is scalable. The solution can accommodate thousands of users, there are maybe sixty of seventy thousand users within my organization.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is good.

How was the initial setup?

This solution takes a long tome to deploy, but it is not complex to setup. A medium-scale deployment will take you about one year.

The system requires about ten to fifteen people to maintain from various teams i.e. active directory, access management, security etc.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You are able to get discounts if you plan to use the tool for the long-term i.e. discounts for 5+ years of usage.

Useful reports, customizable workflows, and feature rich
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of SailPoint IdentityIQ are the reporting because it is better than other solutions. The workflows can be customized to our requirements and the overall features are good."
  • "If you compare Saviynt and Okta Workforce Identity versus SailPoint IdentityIQ, SailPoint IdentityIQ needs to improve its UI."

What is our primary use case?

SailPoint IdentityIQ is used for reporting and identity, account, and access management.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of SailPoint IdentityIQ are the reporting because it is better than other solutions. The workflows can be customized to our requirements and the overall features are good.

What needs improvement?

If you compare Saviynt and Okta Workforce Identity versus SailPoint IdentityIQ, SailPoint IdentityIQ needs to improve its UI.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SailPoint IdentityIQ for approximately four years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

When using SailPoint IdentityIQ you need to tell them the capacity you want, and they will provide the solution with the appropriate license. For example, you have to tell them initially that you will have 50,000 users using the solution then they will tell you how much service you will need to deploy.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is not very good but it is good. They can improve.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used Saviynt and Okta Workforce Identity.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of SailPoint IdentityIQ is easy. The time of deployment can take approximately two days.

What about the implementation team?

We did the implementation of SailPoint IdentityIQ in-house.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others is if you are new to the identity access management world, and you are starting with SailPoint IdentityIQ, you have the best tool in your hand to start with. You can receive complete exposure to all the types of operations or workflows.

I rate SailPoint IdentityIQ a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
