Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Pure Storage is extremely reliable — it's never failed.""It reduces space and the polar consumption. It also accelerates the application.""The speed is the most valuable feature of this solution.""The performance of the storage is just unbelievable.""The most valuable features are extremely low latency, high IOPS with VMware, inline deduplication and compression.""Data reduction and compression. Sub millisecond latency.""It is the SAN backbone for our company.""It's easy to use, and the maintenance upgrades to get free controllers work really well."

"You can easily scale up, and scale-out.""The storage features are valuable.""Over the eight years, we've been using NetApp with ONTAP, we've never lost a bit of data, and we've only experienced a few minutes of downtime in that entire time.""NetApp NVMe AFF A800 is easier to use than some other solutions and the UI is very good to use for day-to-day activities. Overall, the solution has good technology.""We find the product to be very flexible.""During the use cases of the solution, its reliability and suitability are the best.""The most valuable features are stability and performance.""The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is a product that is fast and provides a fast I/O."

"In terms of ease of use, the GUI is quite amazing and seems to be taken from a computer game. Literally within 30 minutes, we had learned almost everything there is on the management UI and started managing the device.""Any time I have needed anything, from a simple question to someone to be onsite, the customer service has been exceptional.""The HTML5 UI is clean, easy to navigate, and very intuitive.""The TimeOS support and I/O performance. For instance, recovery of data from any point in time, and the speed of the unit, are incredible compared to other devices we reviewed.""The biggest feature, and one of the reasons we use it with the file shares, is its continuous Snapshotting. We can go back to almost to any point in time, not only to last night at midnight or a week ago, but 10 minutes ago or three-hours-and-so-many-seconds, or whatever the case may be. We already had a brush with ransomware in the past, so it's good to know we can dial back to just before a mishap happens.""The whole product is based on point-in-time restore capabilities built into their storage appliance, and no one else I know does that.""Reduxio provides a means of backing up the data that you store in it down to one second granularity.""Efficiency of data management (Tier-X tiering, and NoDup inline dedupliclation and compression) provide for quick response time (+150k IOPS) during regular usage."

Cons
"We would like to be able to connect to data tape for backup, specifically to the LTO backups.""We haven't seen ROI.""I would like to migrate to the cloud in the future and know how that would actually work with this product.""Beyond a certain amount of petabytes, you have to have a separate system. Basically, it's not infinitely scalable.""Going forward, don't complicate things for the customers.""I would like to see them develop the ability to integrate with more AWS services. There are increasingly more and more services coming out from AWS but there are also certain constraints where we can't move everything over to a cloud as well. We would like for things that are on-premise to be easily integrated with AWS.""We would like to see more development on their Copy Automation Tool (CAT) for Oracle, as well as better integration for our customers running Oracle VM.""The connectivity needs improvement. You do not have the possibility to have a file and block connectivity at the same time on the same machine. It has limited ability to do so."

More Pure Storage FlashArray Cons →

"The initial setup should be easier, and more like a plug-and-play approach.""Sometimes, it takes a while to get somebody competent on the other end of the line. They do have engineers in multiple time zones around the world. However, their level-one support is not always the best.""The support can take a few days to have a response. However, the response that we do receive is very informative.""The technical support has room for improvement.""The initial setup is complex.""The product's performance has some shortcomings, making it an area that could be a little better.""The cost of the solution is quite high. It would be ideal if they could adjust it so that it's a but less.""Stability is an area with a certain shortcoming where the solution needs to improve"

More NetApp NVMe AFF A800 Cons →

"Scalability is a little unusual. We came from the NetApp world where, if you needed more disk space, you just added more drives into the chassis, whereas with Reduxio, if you need more disk space, you have to buy a new chassis.""the only thing I would say negative about Reduxio is the cabling was a little bit confusing at first, but now that we understand it, it's easy. It was just so different from what we've seen before. That was the only hard part to get used to. The storage array is fully redundant, so there are some cross-connect cables that you have to run, from the A side to the B side, and the B side back to the A side, and we've just never seen anything like that before. But now that I understand the design, it makes complete sense. But initially it was confusing.""Needs some hooks into cloud storage for backup. Also they should update the system to use additional secondary storage as a resource.""It would be nice feature if the GUI had an option to export the current unit configuration to a file or an email recipient. In case of a disaster, this way it would be quicker to get a replacement unit up and running again.""I would love to see deeper integration with VMware vSphere/vCenter. Right now, I can edit existing Reduxio datastore sizes in the vSphere web client. Provisioning new datastores that way would be nice.""A centralized management would be nice, the ability to manage all cluster in one management portal.""I am waiting for the vSphere Plug-In with individual VM level control.""It would be helpful to have the ability to recover virtual machines individually without having to restore the full LUN."

    Overview

Pure Storage FlashArray is the world’s first enterprise-class storage array that runs exclusively on the nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) protocol for memory access and storage. It represents a totally state-of-the-art type of storage technology. It offers users shared accelerated storage that delivers cutting-edge features in the realms of performance, simplicity, and consolidation. Pure Storage is fresh and modern today and will be for the next decade. Without forklift upgrades or planned downtime, Pure Storage takes the work out of storage ownership and delivers unprecedented customer satisfaction.

Pure Storage FlashArray is built with simplicity and reliability in mind. The solution can be implemented and optimized in hours, as opposed to other similar solutions that can take days. It has no moving parts, which removes areas where it could potentially be vulnerable to suffering errors. It is highly stable and gives users the ability to manage system shutdowns in a way that  prevents data loss.

    Benefits of Pure Storage FlashArray

Some of the benefits of using Pure Storage FlashArray include:

    • A much higher level of speed than similar pieces of technology. Pure Storage FlashArray maximizes the speed at which data can be transferred while at the same time minimizing system latencies that might slow the transfer down. Additionally, it offers users quick memory read and data access speeds.

    • A higher bang for your buck in terms of the storage capabilities you get for the money you pay. They are smaller in size than more standard storage technologies, but they offer flash memory, which enables users to store larger amounts of data than the current standard.

    Reviews from Real Users

Pure Storage FlashArray is a highly effective piece of storage technology which stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its overall robustness and the value that it offers by way of its reliability and ease of use. It provides users with many valuable features that allow them to maximize what they can do with this solution. Pure Storage FlashArray’s reliability and ease of use make it a highly valuable solution.

PeerSpot user Prabakaran K., a technical consultant at Injazat Data Systems, notes the robustness of this solution when he writes, "FlashArray has many valuable features. It's very user-friendly and it has high availability, so there is comparatively less downtime. During maintenance, there is no shutdown procedure, so you can directly power off the Array and manage the shutdown process without any data loss, which is a unique feature. Managing replication and data migration is also very easy."

PeerSpot user Jason D., a cloud solutions architect at a tech services company, notes three features that make this solution valuable when he writes, "We've had different types of storage, and three things of this solution are valuable. The first one is its outstanding performance. The second one is its stability. In the about three years that we've had it, we've had component failures, but we never had a service interruption or any data loss. The third one, which is really critical, is that it is super easy to use in terms of provisioning, storage, and managing the arrays. I'm able to maintain a multi-site environment with a couple of dozen arrays with a single mid-level storage admin."

Your data is a gold mine. Get the most out of it - faster - with AFF A800.
