Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out.""It is very easy to set up. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a ten out of ten, with ten being very easy to set up.""The solution was relatively easy to deploy.""The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other.""Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.""Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance.""This is stable and scalable.""Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work."

"t has a very user friendly status bar with common errors and has logs built in to the console so we can review the issues or status of CrashPlan.""Low system overhead, setting retention policies, ease of use""There are a couple of things. One of them is that they have what they call Incydr. Their detection and response solution to the insider threat area is called Incydr. That gives visibility to the clients that have widely dispersed employee bases due to work from home, or that had a dispersed workforce predating any of the work from home requirements. Even though they might not be inside the organization physically, they're inside the organization. It allows us to get some visibility into what people are doing, what the context is, and how to control what might be the potential for intellectual property theft or file exposure.""It had the ability to preseed by sending in a data drive and could restore by sending the user a data drive.""It has quite a bit of flexibility in configuring backup sets.""The solution is very stable. Very rarely do we have any issues with it. We don't have to deal with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. We find it to be reliable.""Security tools: Being able to monitor data going in and coming off our endpoints. Seeing what it is and where it's going is awesome.""Code42 Next-Gen DLP is scalable."

"I have found it valuable that this solution is always there and always armed.""Foothold detection is a valuable feature, acting as a valuable second set of eyes for both us and our clients.""The most valuable aspect of Huntress is its 24/7 SOC service.""While threat hunting is undoubtedly the most valuable feature, the combination of IP scanning, foothold identification, and canary monitoring has also proven to be incredibly beneficial.""It is very easy to use. It is a great solution. They are one of the better vendors that I have ever worked with since I have been in the industry.""Huntress helps by highlighting potential issues, allowing us to take proactive measures.""The EDR product is simple to install. It is low maintenance. All the alerts go to Huntress first, and their analyst team reviews them and sends actionable things our way.""It is incredibly efficient for our engineering team because Huntress provides all the information needed to fix issues, not just flag them."

Cons
"We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels.""The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs.""Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later.""I haven't seen the use of AI in the solution.""I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components.""I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers.""Making the portal mobile friendly would be helpful when I am out of office.""The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"There doesn't seem to be any feature that is lacking.""More security would be nice, I would love to be able to remotely brick a stolen laptop and it's hard disk drive (HDD).""What I think could be improved is how I get support.""Java, please get rid of Java.""The application, written in Java, required far more system resources on a Client than other solutions.""In a couple of instances, we had a little bit of trouble in getting it distributed throughout the organization. We ultimately managed to do it, but they talk about it being a pretty simple process, and it became a little laborious. It would just turn away. The agents were not being distributed. It was just churning and churning and churning. When we were looking for specific categories of data, it was getting bogged down, but that was not even so much Code42, although some of it was their issue.""Reporting could use an overhaul. It is very limited.""I would like to see more flexibility on privileges, perhaps create another kind of admin for regions. Also, I would like the ability to access logs without having to be on the actual device or a super-admin."

More Code42 Incydr Cons →

"The application control system could benefit from improvements in identifying and managing both whitelisted and blacklisted applications.""One area for improvement in Huntress would be to allow for PSA integration from a specific IP address or hostname for better security measures.""Some of Huntress' reporting could be improved.""In the next release, I'd like to see more intuitive dashboards.""Huntress' Process Insights feature could benefit from more robust search and filtering capabilities.""I am anxiously watching to see how they evolve their MDR for Office 365. If anything, I would like more automated remediation capabilities in their MDR for Office 365.""The Huntress is not a standalone solution. It really needs to be used with something else such as Microsoft Defender or another antivirus solution. It would be nice to see the product fleshed out by the Huntress team and include the antivirus solution part as well. I want it to be a full-fledged XDR product. It would push the tool to a higher price range but it would be nice to see the fleshed out features. I want them to integrate more features from the XDR realm.""I'd like Huntress to implement a component that can analyze network traffic for specific sites."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I know it is tough to get big budget additions up front, but I highly recommend deploying environment wide and adding the forensic service."
  • "There are no issues with the pricing."
  • "The price is comprable to other endpoint security solutions."
  • "The pricing is typical for enterprises and fairly priced."
  • "I'm not familiar with pricing, but it looks a bit costly compared to other vendors I think."
  • "The pricing is good."
  • "I would rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
  • "The hardware costs about €100,000 and about €20,000 annually for access."
  • More Fortinet FortiEDR Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "They were the best solution and surprisingly enough, the cheapest."
  • "It is 100% worth the cost to get and keep the support, especially when setting it up."
  • "It used to be a good solution for SOHO in particular as it had unlimited storage for a reasonable price. However, their pricing model has changed and they are now primarily targeting enterprise users."
  • "The pricing is reasonable. It's my understanding that the cost is about $7 for unlimited storage in the cloud per server."
  • "It was expensive. It was more expensive than Eureka, and it was more expensive than Barracuda Backup, but what we got was a full team. They didn't come in and nickel and dime us. They provided the assistance we needed. They didn't say that they need to charge us for something or it is going to take another statement of work. It was all bundled into it... We pay for the software maintenance. It is probably 18% or 20% of the license fee for rev releases."
  • More Code42 Incydr Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The tool’s price is very good. You just need to pay for the standard license. However, you need to pay the additional cost for Microsoft Defender."
  • "I rate the product's price a five or six on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive since it is a fairly priced product."
  • "The pricing is competitive, in line with Huntress's offerings, and aligns well with our business model."
  • "It is simple. It is reasonable. They raised my prices this year. We never like price increases, but they continue to add value, so we just keep adding agents as we grow and as our clients grow."
  • "While other options have emerged since Huntress' arrival, I believe it still offers the best value for the features and services it provides."
  • "Huntress is priced fairly for the services and value it provides."
  • "It is fair. They provide good value for the product that they deliver. I have had one price increase in the entire time I have used them. They added a bunch of features and then said that they have to increase our price a little bit. That is a fair way to handle it."
  • "The pricing model for Huntress is similar to competitors and is charged per endpoint."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.

Detect file exfiltration via web browsers, USB, cloud apps, email, file link sharing, Airdrop, and more. See how files are moved and shared across your entire organization – without the need for policies, proxies or plugins. Incydr automatically identifies when files move outside your trusted environment, allowing you to easily detect when files are sent to personal accounts and unmanaged devices.

Incydr prioritizes file activity based on 120+ contextual Incydr Risk Indicators (IRIs). This prioritization works on day 1 without any configuration. Incydr’s risk scoring logic is use case-driven and transparent to administrators. Incydr uses Watchlists to programmatically protect data from employees who are most likely to leak or steal files, such as departing employees.

Take action with appropriate responses to contain, resolve and educate on detected risk. Use Incydr Flows or SOAR integrations to initiate response controls that are proportionate to an activity’s risk severity. You’ll stop data leaks without getting in the way of employee collaboration and sanctioned file activity.

Improving your Insider Risk posture requires a change in employee behavior. Code42 Instructor provides bite-sized training to employees, delivered when they need it. Use Instructor in tandem with Incydr to send responsive video lessons when employees put data at risk. You’ll ensure appropriate data governance and compliance with security standards and corporate policies as well as report on the positive impact of your Insider Risk Management program.
