We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product is robust.""Axway AMPLIFY Application Integration is very easy to use.""Axway AMPLIFY Application Integration is quite a stable solution.""The most valuable feature is that API Gateway is extremely flexible for any feature, such as connecting to Active Directory to pull the users and their authentication information. There are three ways to connect to Active Directory, and the reason for this is that the computing environments of our customers are very different. Every feature in API Gateway has got multiple methodologies for accomplishing those tasks, which is important because customers are constantly changing their security models, IT models, networks, etc. API Gateway is very flexible. It is not a one size fits all sort of situation where it is very rigid, and you can only use these pull-down menus, and that's all it ever does. It is much more open than that. It can give you fabulous reports on your users, usage, security issues, and the data sets that are going through there. You'll suddenly have visibility on the movement of data within or between your organization and other organizations. The other thing is that you're connecting API to API, which is machine to machine. The things that were done manually in an Excel spreadsheet before exchanging data through email are now done machine to machine and server to server. It speeds up the velocity of your business."

"The best feature is that many companies use the solution so there is a lot of peer support.""The solution offers good integration capabilities.""Everything from the order to fulfillment to the payment process, except for physical packing and shipping, is fully automated for some customer orders.""Very flexible product; it allows implementing different flows on the same infrastructure.""The technical support on offer through the portal is very helpful and responsive.""The solution is useful for transferring files from one format to another format. Also, the solution is useful in translation.""IBM B2B Integrator is a great tool, robust, reliable, low-maintenance, and ideal solution.""The most valuable feature of IBM B2B Integrator is its security and flexibility."

More IBM B2B Integrator Pros →

"ODI's best features are customization, integration with other versioning tools, and the ability to define new knowledge modules.""The CAEM is very useful in its modularity and portability.""It is an ETL tool, which does the extract, transform, and load.""The installation of the client ODI Studio is easy.""I like that Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) has a straightforward setup and offers good technical support.""The solution's initial setup is straightforward, especially compared to Mule, which our team has worked with before and found to be a bit more complex in terms of setup.""It's scalable.""ODI's most valuable features are it utilizes the database engine and is very lightweight."

Cons
"Axway AMPLIFY Application Integration is an expensive solution.""The most important point to improve is the capability to deploy in large enterprises.""Because it is so flexible, you really need someone who knows Axway Gateway or has been through the training and is certified. Just because you know APIs doesn't mean you're going to walk into that API Gateway and understand what to click on. If you're going to get something done quickly, you need to find an engineer from a company who has some experience with it. It is easy to learn, but if you're doing on-the-job training, it is going to take you longer to get your project accomplished.""The product must improve its visibility and scalability."

More Axway AMPLIFY Application Integration Cons →

"The user interface is outdated. B2B Integrator was developed in the United States in the nineties, and the graphical user interface hasn't improved since. It's tough because you have to program the software in XML. Nowadays, other methods are easier to work with.""The tool requires you to write a lot of code in Java and XSLT, which makes development tough.""There is no related transaction stored in the database because it's an OLTP application.""The mapping, visibility, deployment, and the dashboard could be improved and updated. The communication logs are very poor. They are not easily understood, and we need to navigate to many places for many reasons. You can't just pull the information; it's very tough.""The initial setup is complex.""The one thing that is lacking is easy visibility. It's hard to provide business users with a view into the statuses of their transactions.""API integration could be improved. The legacy system could be on the cloud.""Map translator needs more enhancements."

More IBM B2B Integrator Cons →

"ODI could improve by focusing on streamlining its features without unnecessary overhead.""It would be really good if Oracle considered enabling the tool to integrate with some other platforms that are deprecated simply for commercial reasons""It has been very good. Just recently, I've faced an issue, but I solved it somehow. While integrating with a file, I faced an issue where I wanted output files, and I had used the text field limited quotations, but at the end of the file, there was a line breakage for the last column. So, we just removed the text field because it was not working correctly for us.""An area for improvement would be the lack of SQL compatibility - ODI has no ability to interact with SQL unstructured types and data types.""The tool should improve its pricing. It prevents the application of Oracle ODI on small and medium projects in countries like Croatia, Germany, or the US. While there are no technological obstacles to using it, the high price makes it unfeasible for projects with smaller budgets.""The solution lacks some functions and features.""Stability could be improved because some operators have issues.""I rate it a seven out of 10 because there is room for growth because ODI is still new, in comparison to Informatica, which is a mature product."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "API Gateway is priced on the number of transactions you run through it. API Gateway is free, and you can install as many API Gateways as you like or are necessary for your network. For example, if all of the data is inside your network or firewall, you may just need one API Gateway. If you have external customers trying to come into your organization through your firewall, you're going to need one API Gateway outside the firewall and one inside the firewall. If you have a lot of remote offices, you may want to put API Gateway in some of those offices as well. They only charge you for your usage of it. In other words, the number of transactions going through it. That's a good benefit."
  • "The product is not expensive."
  • "Users need to pay an annual licensing fee for the solution."
  • More Axway AMPLIFY Application Integration Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We pay an annual fee based on the number of VPUs. It's fairly reasonable. We're in the middle of analyzing other products, and they're all pretty much in the same range."
  • "The solution is priced at $20,000 to $30,000 per year with no extra costs."
  • "The pricing is based on how many cores are used and the type of cores."
  • "Licensing depends upon the package you opt for within the solution. The solution is a bit costly compared to the other integration tools in the market."
  • "The price of IBM B2B Integrator is too high. However, IBM may be willing to give a discount if there are negotiations. If they see that there is a good opportunity for them they can provide a discount."
  • "The product costs more than 40K."
  • More IBM B2B Integrator Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Being an ODI developer, I never had to pay for this product. I know that the pricing/licensing is not really low, but the product is really good."
  • "We found that the cost compared to other integration tools is a little high, but the solution works great."
  • "The solution is expensive because of the model they use. The cost is for the license and for support."
  • "ODI comes included when buying the cloud version of the Oracle database license."
  • "There is a standard license to use the solution but there are other costs in addition, such as hardware and operating system."
  • "Per user, it is $900 USD per year, though they will give some discount. However, even a 60% to 70% of discount for each won't help us much. On top of that, there is the perpetual license you must pay at the outset."
  • "I have yet to determine the exact figure for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) pricing, but it has lower pricing than Informatica."
  • "The Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) pricing isn't expensive, but it's not cheap, so it's in the middle. I'd rate the pricing as three out of five."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) solution.

Brian D., Business Process and Strategy Specialist Advisor at NTTData, says, “The Knowledge Module (KM) is my favorite feature of ODI. This is where I learned how to use variables to make jobs dynamic. I took that knowledge and created a KM that would go into iTunes and pull the sales of eBooks. Making something that is reusable, like a KM, is important to not only reduce build time but also maintenance in the future.”

Ashok S., Applications Support Manager at a marketing services firm, mentions, "The most valuable features of ODI are the ease of development, you can have a template, and you can onboard transfer very quickly. There's a lot of knowledge modules available that we can use. If you want to connect, for example, a Sibyl, SQL, Oracle, or different products, we don't have to develop them from scratch. They are available, but if it's not, we can go into the marketplace and see if there's a connector there. Having the connector available reduces the amount of hard work needed. We only have to put the inputs and outputs. In some of the products, we use there is already integration available for ODI, which is helpful."
