We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The addition of the AirMapper software on the nXG and our AirCheck G2s has helped a lot because we're mostly not drilling down into the data. Local managers only need to see the coverage on their end and whether there are performance bottlenecks. These things are easy enough for us to ascertain with iPerf.""The benefit is with the ease of use of the software, I am able to show the customer, "Here is what your wireless coverage looks like." It is set up in a fashion that non-technical people can understand it.""Using the products to ensure the safety of our equipment that we have a lot invested in.""It allows us to prepare more real designs. Later, we validate them with actual surveys.""The heat maps are quite good, and some features are easy to use.""We use the solution for Wi-Fi and networks.""The predictive survey is the most valuable feature. I use it quite often.""It is reliable and easy to use (user-friendly). The heat mapping, passive network surveying, and doing the heat mapping of a building's wireless network allows me to see what level of coverage an area has."

"It has a high-quality graphical interface.""The granular access control that it provided so that you could only see devices that were related to what you were working on was great. I couldn't see the entire inventory of devices. I could only see the ones that were related to my work. It has got a very granular access control component.""It is very stable. We have not had any major issues in over 10 years.""What I like best is the configuration management functionality.""It covers a lot of different types of hardware. It can do a lot and saves us time.""The tool is very mature, and its valuable features are monitoring and configuration management.""Some of the most valuable features are it's highly scalable, the carrier is great, and if something has SNMP, it can monitor it. It's a great network fault management solution.""It creates transparency and makes everything work by being more transparent."

"OneTouch is easy to set up. You just plug it in, enter your details, and off you go. It only takes a few minutes as long as you've got Link-Live access or network access."

Cons
"When you conduct an active survey and then want to use it for design work, it's actually not very useful.""It would be nice to have some more training resources for younger techs. We can use them if we need some assistance, but that usually requires one of us who knows what we're doing to calibrate the programs properly.""The surveying features are in need of improvement, along with general usability.""I would say some of our newer techs that are going out to job sites can be a little bit intimidated by the interface.""Less time consumed doing the real surveys.""It'd be nice if it was cheaper, however, you get value for your money.""The user interface needs a lot of improvement. The auto-placement of access points is not accurate.""AirMagnet Survey doesn't cover certain devices in the system."

More AirMagnet Survey Cons →

"It needs better integration with other CA products.""It was somewhat complex to implement.""It doesn’t give you performance metrics: You need CA eHealth for this.""The platform is complicated to use.""The interface is not nice and needs to be improved.""I would like to see CA move Spectrum, Performance Manager, and some of their other tools moved to a SaaS based model. You see a lot of other manufacturers which are moving toward SaaS based models.""The solution could improve by allowing the ability to monitor the network shortly after installing the software and adding an auto-discovery function.""I would like to see better scalability, and maybe, a more intuitive user interface. "

More DX Spectrum Cons →

"It is also limited in the number of IP targets you can test. If you want to test how many hops or different sites, you should be able to hit a test button and say, "Right then, test these 20 IP addresses to see if I can reach them." It only does up to 10. Most of NetAlly's other devices, like the G2, can do unlimited addresses."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The moment we began needing more of the vendor's support, the cost became very high; we switched to another solution."
  • "For technical support, you need an annual license, but it is not worth it."
  • "The pricing needs improvement."
  • "This product is very expensive."
  • "There is an annual cost of the solution. There are some additional charges, such as support and maintenance."
  • "The tool's pricing is medium."
  • More AirMagnet Survey Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is very pricey. With the current trend of enterprises moving towards cheaper and more modern looking solutions like ManageEngine, SevOne, ServicePilot, and Paesller."
  • "It’s a great tool, but an expensive one. Learn how to use it properly."
  • "The cost of some of these products are a little cost prohibitive, which is unfortunate. We have to find lower cost solutions for some of the things that we have to pull in. For the most part, CA has capabilities in pretty much everything that you would need. You just have to figure out where are you going to spend the most money for what you have to actually get done. You can do all these things but, which ones do you have to do? And that's hard to choose sometimes because you want to do them all."
  • "In general, the license cost will be about 30% of the total TCO for this tool (hardware/support team, OS costs, and OS management)."
  • "The product, support, and maintenance are all expensive, which is another reason that we are switching to another solution."
  • "The price is very high."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "Currently, a perpetual license but some services are moving to a subscription"

    Reviews from Real Users

DX Spectrum stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its robust root cause analysis and its event correlation tool. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

Umair A., Enterprise Solutions & Services Head at Duroob Technologies, writes of the product, “It covers networks very well. It has all the capabilities that you're looking for when it comes to monitoring. Spectrum is great for root cause analysis. It has excellent correlation event management. Spectrum's stability and scalability are also amazing. If you have a CA Service Desk, then it can be integrated so that if you have open tickets they can be closed automatically.”

Itarchit, an IT Architect at a comms service provider, notes, “The most valuable feature is the event correlation mechanism.
