I appreciate the interface, the reporting capabilities, and the overall user experience about this product. I use the automatic data flow mapping and visualization feature, and it helps my organization by providing clarity in understanding data lineage.

I have been using this solution for three years, and the improvements I have seen include better data quality and compliance, which benefits my business mainly by reducing risks.

There are areas of improvement in Collibra Lineage, including pricing, support, and reporting. Regarding pricing, it is somewhat expensive, and I think it could be more cost-efficient.

There is room for improvement in Collibra Lineage as it could incorporate automation features which would allow it to find data lineage across a data stack independently.

I have been working with Collibra Lineage for approximately four or five years.

I don't have much experience with Collibra Lineage, so I cannot comment on whether it is straightforward in terms of installation or if there are challenges when implementing.

We use Collibra Catalog for data catalogs, data classifications, and all aspects of data categorization. My focus is on metadata, particularly how easy it is to extract an application's metadata and integrate it into Collibra Catalog.

Collibra Catalog allows us to automate metadata management, significantly saving time, effort, and finances. We connect Collibra to an application, enabling it to read and extract metadata, which is more efficient than manual processes. Additionally, Collibra Catalog is scalable and its servers have high uptime standards, making it reliable.

More automation and artificial intelligence involvement are necessary. Reducing required employee involvement and enhancing ease of use are vital. Users often find it challenging to utilize data governance tools, with ease of use ranked as an important criterion by 2028 standards.

We have been using Collibra Catalog for more than a year.

For Collibra Catalog, because it's a Software as a Service, it's easy. It takes no time to launch since it's just a subscription. However, configurations and customizing for business functions is where challenges arise.

There are no stability issues. The servers are very good, and the uptime standards are high, so it's always available, up and running.

Collibra Catalog is scalable for our environment.

I have contacted Collibra support, and I rate it an eight out of ten. The support is good but not fantastic.

The setup technology-wise is very good. The problem lies in feeding the actual business data and ensuring it works as a process and workflow.

Currently, the pricing is at an average market rate. However, there are plans to increase license rates. Overall, it is a reasonable and average rate.

Users should focus on business-focused objectives and not go for large projects. Implement in iterations, prioritizing smaller items. I rate the overall solution eight out of ten.

I am an implementer working as an enterprise cloud and AI security architect. While working with BT clients from Accenture, they were using Collibra Governance on on-prem infrastructure and wanted to integrate it into Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We compared it with GCP's Data Catalog to determine which one was better.

One of the most impactful features of Collibra Governance is its cataloging of data. During my time with BT clients, we were able to efficiently catalog data on their on-prem infrastructure using Collibra Governance. The main feature of Collibra is the cataloging of data, which can be done effectively on any infrastructure. It can integrate with GCP's marketplace and maintain data consistency during cloud migrations.

There is room for improvement in the Collibra Data Catalog regarding data classification and categorization. It struggles to catalog all categories of data, particularly sensitive data on-prem, which GCP Data Catalog handles better. Additionally, pricing can be an issue if Collibra's existing features do not meet specific business requirements, necessitating integration with other data catalogs.

I have around 1 to 1.5 years of experience working with Collibra Governance.

To implement the Collibra Data Catalog, it typically takes around a couple of days since it requires the involvement of multiple teams, such as the data team, architecture team, and application teams.

In terms of stability, I would rate Collibra Governance as a nine out of ten.

In terms of scalability, I can rate it as an eight out of ten.

The technical support from Collibra Governance is excellent, and I rate it as ten out of ten.

The initial setup of Collibra Governance depends on the environment. If the environment is small, it is simple, but if it is complex, the configuration will also be complicated.

Implementing Collibra Data Catalog can be cost-effective if its features align well with the business requirements. However, if additional integration is needed for specific use cases, it could become costlier.

The pricing of Collibra Governance is moderate. It is neither extremely costly nor very cheap, as it depends on the use case and specific requirements.

We compared Collibra Data Catalog with GCP Data Catalog.

Overall, I can rate Collibra Governance as an eight out of ten. I recommend using Collibra Governance for those who are on-premise to catalog their data efficiently. Collibra AI can be integrated with any generative AI in AWS or GCP. Despite leaving Wipro, I would like PeerSpot to publish my articles using my personal email until I'm back at work. I rate the overall solution an eight out of ten.

On-premises

We created custom data models in Collibra Lineage for domains and communities. Under each domain, we created databases and linked data dictionaries. We set up workflows by linking controls, which were attested by control owners quarterly. All of this was automated.

The solution allowed us to quickly and efficiently implement our data governance operating model, including accountabilities, regulatory lineage, and data dictionaries. This was much faster and more efficient than manual methods or other tools like Informatica. I prefer Collibra Lineage for its self-service capabilities.

I created a use case and gave users access to data stores, allowing them to implement their data sets easily. In contrast, Informatica requires a dedicated team of IT experts to handle these tasks.

The solution's APIs can be seamlessly connected to anything. 

It would be better if features like the privacy module and AI-based Collibra DQ were included in one package instead of being separate and requiring additional costs. Currently, the basic package covers lineage and documentation, but the extra modules come at an extra cost.

I have been using the product for one and a half years.

The solution's support is good. They would come to us whenever we had any issues.

The main differences between Collibra Lineage and Informatica are significant, particularly for small to mid-sized organizations. First, Informatica requires a dedicated team, which incurs a huge cost, making it less suitable for smaller organizations. Second, Informatica's tools are very scattered. For instance, to create a domain, you need to use Axon, and then for lineage, you must use EDC. For profiling, Informatica Developer or Analyst is required. These different tools are not well-connected to display everything on one screen. While Informatica is trying to improve with its cloud version, not many users have adopted it yet. These are the two main areas where Informatica lags.

The initial setup was straightforward. Collibra Lineage engineers helped with the setup by getting on calls with our IT team. I also benefited from its resident architect program, which provided a dedicated employee to assist with creating workflows. This was more efficient and cost-effective than hiring an external IT person.

For deploying Collibra Lineage, we needed four people: myself as the lead, one IT resource for backups, the Collibra Lineage resident architect, and one person for uploading data. The process took three to four months to complete. It doesn't require much maintenance. The solution provided a dedicated person for our account who informed us of updates. Our IT guy would then handle the update easily.

We had Collibra Lineage at Bank of the West, which was acquired by BMO Bank. BMO already used Informatica, so we had to switch from Collibra Lineage to Informatica. The tool's team was very supportive during the transition. In the future, if we have a chance, we'll choose Collibra Lineage again.

I rate the overall product a nine out of ten.

I use Collibra Platform in my day-to-day work to build out a business glossary and the data catalog to describe our key data assets.

The Data Catalog feature stands out most to me because it is organized, faster, and there are good integrations with other tools.

Collibra Platform has positively impacted my organization as we save a lot of time. We have saved up to 30% of manual work as a specific process or workflow became faster.

Collibra Platform can be improved by adding more connectors to the ecosystems.

I have been using Collibra Platform for two years.

I have seen a return on investment, with relevant metrics being time saved.

My advice to others looking into using Collibra Platform is to use it in cloud because that is the best solution.

My domain is master data management. In master data management, basic data quality, lineages, rule profilings, and similar processes come under Collibra profiling. I use it for these purposes.

I find the rule modification and the replication of the rules in Collibra happens very quickly. This is one of the aspects I appreciate the most. Additionally, the data lineage and catalog features have improved significantly over the years. While they were not perfect three years ago, they are much more mature now and continue to grow each year.

The domain-based approach could be more helpful for aspects such as customer 360 and product 360. Moving towards this could create significant value.

I rate scalability a six out of ten. There is some room for improvement in terms of scalability.

The main competitors on the market that I consider are SAP and Informatica.

The primary use case for Collibra Catalog in my organization is for documenting all the metadata that we have in the company. Apart from that, I am also focusing on many different layers on it, including data lineage, data quality, business glossaries, and access management workflow.

In the company that I'm working for, there are lots of different analytical groups, so it is going to save much more time for IT people.. Previously, when I was working at a more business-oriented company, our primary audience was the business people. This demonstrates that the improvements depend on the different organization structures and how you're defining your data governance goal and vision.

Except for data quality, everything is perfect. Once you have your data systems integrated with the Collibra platform, and when you set up the frequency of refreshing the metadata from that data system, it happens automatically. It is based on how you define that data refresh.

If the price is a bit reduced, that would be better. Improving the data quality landscape much better in the platform would be beneficial because the data quality landscape hasn't matured to function well compared to other competitors.

I would rate the technical support from Collibra as seven because to work in the Collibra platform, especially if you are going to do it in your own cloud services, they ask for specific consultants to work in our company. So it's not entirely independent for us to work on it when it comes to the IT landscape.

I worked in Alation and Informatica before, and I moved to Collibra right now. Informatica is a fully mature data management platform, which provides different landscapes like master data management, data governance, and data quality, wherein Collibra provides only data catalog or governance. I prefer Informatica since it is a completely mature platform in terms of data management aspects.

The setup is simple. It depends on in which platform you're going to deploy it, whether in the cloud or on premise, and if in the cloud, whether it's your company's cloud or Collibra's cloud.

They wanted us to collaborate only with the specific consulting providers to work on the Collibra platform, especially when it is in our own cloud services.

A suggestion for Collibra would be to improve collaboration with many different other technologies, as that would make it a frontrunner in the data catalog service provider space. It would be beneficial for Collibra to integrate with business intelligence tools and show us good data lineage mapping.
