Easy to manage and implement with simple configuration capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "One of the main characteristics that Check Point CloudGuard Network Security has given us is granularity and visibility."
  • "It is somewhat problematic in the area of the cloud."

What is our primary use case?

Check Point CloudGuard Network Security helps resolve potential regulatory and compliance issues when moving to the cloud. The high-visibility rule base's granular approach helps us with potential security leaks and highlights items to focus on for immediate action.

The functionality that we're using it for is the cloud firewall piece.

For this reason, it was necessary to implement this tool in our organization and the results have been very positive, providing the necessary security throughout the infrastructure.

How has it helped my organization?

One of the main characteristics that Check Point CloudGuard Network Security has given us is granularity and visibility. The data that enters our Azure environment integrates in a great way in the cloud and in on-premises. This is important for the alerts and the response to incidents that arise in our platform in the cloud, for the moment, we are very satisfied to have acquired this solution and to have implemented it in the cloud and with other systems on-premise that have given us a lot of security and peace of mind.

What is most valuable?

One of the features that I liked the most and that I feel is very useful is auto-scaling. Our Azure cloud environment is constantly growing and this allows us to expand as well.

Another very accurate feature is CloudGuard's malware prevention and exploit resistance rate and they have given us a lot of security since the database is very large.

It is easy to manage CloudGuard from on-premises and offers the same protection as we can provide to the rest of our environments, which is a great advantage for us.

What needs improvement?

One of the areas that should be improved is the updates of the products. It is somewhat problematic in the area of the cloud. In the case of migration from on-premise to the cloud, it is difficult to replace the licenses. It should be something very transparent and thus save us the time to go to support but in general, the tool is shared very well in security and protection of privacy and if they are lucky they can add more features that help us our security would be great they should always be one step ahead of cyberattacks.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have implemented it two year ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Check Point CloudGuard Network Security maintains very good stability, and, best of all, maintains excellent compatibility with Azure.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is great. You can make a network scale up or down. This allows you to have good control of bandwidth in the organization or to be able to distribute it in the different departments of the company.

How are customer service and support?

Currently, since the implementation, not much support has been used, therefore, I rate it as excellent.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The Check Point brand has always been used in our organization.

How was the initial setup?

The configuration was very simple since the tool and the wizard are very interactive and user-friendly. It was not very difficult to do the installation and configuration.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation started with a vendor and the IT team. The engineer that worked with us presented great knowledge of the product.

What was our ROI?

By using a tool of this type, the cost of personnel decreases since the tool performs quite well with the functions that it was designed for.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price and the licenses have been good. They maintain a competitive price with the other companies.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Other options were not evaluated as we like to keep the same brand across solutions.

What other advice do I have?

When doing a cloud deployment, remember you are doing this in the cloud so treat it like a cloud device, as good configuration brings good results.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Microsoft Azure

Network protection, assessments, and best practices for cloud networks.
Pros and Cons
  • "It really is a pretty complete solution."
  • "At the cost level, the solution is somewhat expensive."

What is our primary use case?

We have infrastructure in both Microsoft Azure and on-premise. We wanted to centralize an environment of governance, control, and best practices, at the level of Microsoft Azure. We were able to implement Defender for the cloud at some point. However, we already had security products from Check Point. The idea was to centralize all our tools in the same environment to make it easier to support administration.

With Check Point CloudGuard we have been able to successfully implement a layer of protection for our cloud and our on-premise environments.

How has it helped my organization?

With Check Point CloudGuard Network Security, we have been able to provide advanced security and security in the Azure network in addition to all the security additions associated with Check Point which are very important. Each one provides a role or complements the security of the company.

The panel or score can help evaluate the reality of our cloud and hybrid infrastructure. It has an excellent capability. The Check Point blueprint has taken us to the next level of protection.

It really is a pretty complete solution.

What is most valuable?

Check Point CloudGuard Network Security is complemented with all the features and becomes a security giant. The most important features, at least for us, are:

1 - It allows for the implementation of centralized security through Check Point Infinity in addition to being able to manage the security of hybrid and cloud environments.

2 - The trust and security provided by advanced threat protection is a point of distinction. We have not seen any false positives. Its anti-malware prevention is very good, and protection against ransomware is one of the features we require for our infrastructure.

3 - Additionally, it can be integrated with most public clouds, making it attractive.

What needs improvement?

There are a few features or improvements that can be mentioned. One of them may be that the Infinity Portal is sometimes slow. A performance improvement could improve the administrator's perspective.

At the cost level, the solution is somewhat expensive. They could have an improvement to be a more feasible solution for everyone.

The support must improve. It is the biggest issue that Check Point currently has. Sometimes it is better to investigate oneself than to wait for a solution from the support department.

For how long have I used the solution?

We implemented this tool a few months ago to be able to validate the security associated with our cloud environment. In this case, we implemented against Microsoft Azure.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Yes

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Yes

How are customer service and support?

Great.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, we used Microsoft Defender for a cloud solution. It's a very good tool, however, Microsoft is new in this field.

What about the implementation team?

It was carried out internally and was a positive experience.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is definitely important to test the tool before defining it in a production environment. It is also good to know the costs with a professional.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Previously we checked to see if we could stay with Microsoft Defender for Cloud. However, we opted for a centralized environment with more security muscle of its own.

What other advice do I have?

It is one of the best solutions on the market. I challenge you to try it so you can say the same.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Microsoft Azure

Provides the ability to manage the entire solution consistently and easy to deploy
Pros and Cons
  • "CloudGuard Network Security provides unified security management across hybrid clouds as well as on-prem. It's very important because when I have unified security, I have better control of the situation. If there's an attack or something like that, we can react faster. It's easier for everyone in the organization to work with the Infinity platform."
  • "It needs to cover additional kinds of infrastructure, like containers and serverless options. It's somewhat limited in that area."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for security in public cloud implementations, specifically in AWS and Azure

How has it helped my organization?

For my customer's organization, it's important because they can work with the same kind of solution. They don't need many different solutions in many different use cases. And then they have better management of the solution in general.

CloudGuard Network Security provides unified security management across hybrid clouds as well as on-prem. It's very important because when I have unified security, I have better control of the situation.

If there's an attack or something like that, we can react faster. It's easier for everyone in the organization to work with the Infinity platform.

What is most valuable?

The integration in the Infinity portal. It's very important for someone to consider the solution if you need to work through a purchase partner. Because they can manage the entire solution consistently with the on-premise Quantum solution and the cloud solution in Azure or AWS without that integration, it's valuable.

What needs improvement?

It needs to cover additional kinds of infrastructure, like containers and serverless options. It's somewhat limited in that area.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable product. I haven't heard any problems or complaints from my customers.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's quite scalable because we scale by compute units. It's very easy for us to make a new deployment.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to replace cloud-native solutions from Azure directly or AWS. We don't implement those originally.

It's important for us because we have had a lot of traditional customers. Then, it's a good way to extend this security to the new deployments in public clouds. It's very important for us.

Additionally, the customer is going to find another choice in the market.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment is easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is fair for most of the customers. We don't find the price excessive. It's okay. We can sell it. It's not really hard.

So, the pricing is good.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend using it.

Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. It is very good. Because it's very well integrated with the traditional platform, especially the Infinity portal part. The unified security concept is very sound for that.

However, there is always room for improvement, we always have to extend the capabilities to other use cases.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

  • "There is room for improvement, especially concerning the integration with the management center. It would be beneficial if tasks that currently require scripts could be performed directly from the GUI."

What is our primary use case?

I use the product to secure the Azure environment.

What is most valuable?

The tool's most valuable features are firewalls and IPS.

What needs improvement?

There is room for improvement, especially concerning the integration with the management center. It would be beneficial if tasks that currently require scripts could be performed directly from the GUI.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We faced issues with scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's support is good but can be improved.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is too expensive.

What other advice do I have?

We have moved our security level from on-prem to the cloud. The security posture is consistent. We can use the same storage system, monitoring system, and objects both on-prem and in the cloud.

I am quite confident with CloudGuard Network Security. The primary reason for choosing the product over other cloud firewall vendors was to maintain the same solution as on-premises. Additionally, it offered a good level of security functionalities.

I rate the overall product an eight out of ten. You should define your requirements before choosing the product.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

Makes security operations faster and error-free
Pros and Cons
  • "The product offers an easy and nice way to manage the gateways, similar to on-prem hardware. It has packet filtering features. Our security operations are faster and less prone to errors. We selected CloudGuard Network Security due to its visibility."
  • "The solution needs to improve the interruptions that happen during gateway upgrades."

What is our primary use case?

We use the product for network security and cloud workload protection.

How has it helped my organization?

It's easy to set up in Azure Cloud. The ease of setup helps us save time.

What is most valuable?

It offers an easy and nice way to manage the gateways, similar to on-prem hardware. It has packet filtering features. Our security operations are faster and less prone to errors. We selected CloudGuard Network Security due to its visibility.

CloudGuard Network Security more or less provides us with unified security management across hybrid-clouds as well as on-prem. We manage both environments on the same console. It makes our security operations faster and less prone to error.

What needs improvement?

The solution needs to improve the interruptions that happen during gateway upgrades.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There were no major stability issues, although switching gateways could cause some downtime, approximately a minute until the new gateway is fully deployed.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

CloudGuard Network Security's scalability is good.

How are customer service and support?

The tool's support is good. Their responses can get delayed due to time zone differences.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have only used the built-in solutions from Azure

CloudGuard is easier to understand. CloudGuard is very easy to translate and easy to incorporate features. CloudGuard has better features like packet filters, EPS, threat prevention, and filtering.

We chose CloudGuard because of the visibility. It's much better.

How was the initial setup?

The setup process saves us time, especially in the Azure cloud, as the system continually improves.

What was our ROI?

We have seen ROI through its visibility and through understanding attacks on the workloads.

What other advice do I have?

For us, the solution was easy to understand. The syncing of the CloudGuard Network Security is like that of the gateway on-prem. Translating in a very easy path to bring the features is very easy. I rate the product a nine out of ten.

Allows filtering of servers on AWS for Internet access and significantly reduced the risk of unauthorized access
Pros and Cons
  • "Now, we can filter which websites users can access and block categories that are a risk. For example, we can block social media and gambling sites. This has helped to decrease the risk of access to malicious content on the internet."
  • "The complexity to deploy should be decreased."

What is our primary use case?

We use it to protect Internet access from our AWS environment.

How has it helped my organization?

Before we implemented CloudGuard, we had no filtering on what was accessed on the internet from our AWS environment.

Now, we can filter which websites users can access and block categories that are a risk. For example, we can block social media and gambling sites. This has helped to decrease the risk of access to malicious content on the internet.

What is most valuable?

It allows us to filter what the servers on AWS can access on the Internet and allows us to filter in terms of IPS, antivirus, and so on, for the contents that are accessed on the Internet.

What needs improvement?

The complexity to deploy should be decreased.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. It has been pretty stable for us. We haven't faced any problems since it rolled out.

I would rate the stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten. We have around 200 end users using this solution in our company.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support from the vendor take a lot of time.

The first line of support is not very good. They usually start with junior engineers when you open a case, which can be time-consuming.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

I would rate my experience with the initial setup an eight out of ten, where one is easy and ten is difficult to setup.

What about the implementation team?

For the deployment, we work with the vendor. So, the deployment took two weeks.

We need to provision the firewall, deploy the manager, and understand where the firewall needs to connect, which AWS area, and so on.

We just needed more than two people for the deployment. We worked with the security network security architect and called them engineers.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

With ten being very expensive, I would rate the pricing an eight out of ten.

It is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

It's worth it in the sense that it can protect your network, and it's very scalable.

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

The advanced technology helps us automate many manual tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "CloudGuard's intelligent tools help us automate many manual security tasks, guaranteeing our customers' environments will be secure."
  • "The user experience might suffer if we don't have the time to follow up with our clients and ensure they are using the right options. Clients also want more local support in Portuguese and Spanish during their normal business hours. That's something I hear from my customers and my team, too."

What is our primary use case?

I manage the delivery team of a tech services company. We implement and manage security systems for our clients. CloudGuard is a solution we deploy for larger enterprise clients.

How has it helped my organization?

CloudGuard's intelligent tools help us automate many manual security tasks, guaranteeing our customers' environments will be secure. It saves a lot of time because jobs that might require five or six people can be handled with one or two.

What needs improvement?

Check Point solutions are not easy to use if you don't have experience. We have some Check Point specialists, so it's not difficult for us. The user experience might suffer if we don't have the time to follow up with our clients and ensure they are using the right options. Clients also want more local support in Portuguese and Spanish during their normal business hours. That's something I hear from my customers and my team, too.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used CloudGuard for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

CloudGuard is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

CloudGuard is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

Check Point's support isn't the best, but it's good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also use solutions by FireMonAlgoSec, and Akamai. We're constantly comparing products and looking for ways to get more features with less money. Akamai has more solutions, whereas Check Point is more specialized.

How was the initial setup?

Our clients are large and complex, so it is complicated to deploy CloudGuard in their environments.

What about the implementation team?

We had a reseller and use IBM as an integrator. Our experience was positive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

CloudGuard is reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Check Point CloudGuard Network Security an eight out of ten.

Production has increased since we deployed this software as employees have nothing to fear and can fully focus on productive activities. It stops phishing attacks and any third-party attacks that can destroy data.

Working in a secure environment free from malware attacks has been a great achievement in the organization. Check Point CloudGuard Network Security has helped us to achieve this.

What is most valuable?

The advanced threat prevention system stops any ransomware attacks that can leak confidential information to unauthorized parties.

Both multi-cloud and on-premises are protected from data attackers, which has boosted the company's growth.

This software is great in overall performance since it can locate any trouble across the networking system and provide solutions before it affects workflows.

The automated network security is efficient in monitoring CI/CD workflows. The security across the premises has improved, and the application production has improved under a secure working environment.

What needs improvement?

The current features have ensured that there are no cloud threats that can affect data in any way.

We have experienced the most advanced data security since we deployed CloudGuard Network Security in the organization.

A threat categorization system can be added to give users the authority to define vulnerable attacks and classify areas that can threaten the workflow system.

Working with this platform is complicated for new users. The cost of management is relatively high for small-scale businesses affecting overall performance.

Great analysis with centralized management and good segmentation capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "The product has allowed us to develop applications from the cloud - even with large environments and well-segmented security lines."
  • "We can easily design, install, and configure everything from the cloud in a coherent way."
  • "While today we can manage some scopes, there are still some segments in the OSI layer we cannot manage."

What is our primary use case?

We have a constant need to evolve and are migrating towards the cloud due to greater availability and better benefits at the level of hardware and computing.

With the understanding that we must have a faster, more efficient team with greater benefits when creating equipment or application services, we were looking for a solution with high user acceptance. We also wanted to meet the external and internal needs of the company and maintain solid corporate governance that includes offering the highest level of security standards. This product allowed us to create that level of security and develop natively in the cloud.

How has it helped my organization?

The product has allowed us to develop applications from the cloud - even with large environments and well-segmented security lines. We're managing to prevent threats from any front with automated security. We can easily design, install, and configure everything from the cloud in a coherent way. It's easy to establish security policies to manage local and cloud environments now.

I am turning to a multi-cloud solution. Being able to achieve analysis and prevention of advanced threats and security in the network regardless of the environment has been great. It doesn't matter whether they are hybrid clouds, local networks can be resolved entirely in the cloud, and everything is managed from a single panel. We've managed to achieve a centralized visualization of our infrastructure, giving us greater insights and an overview of everything that happens in the organization.

What is most valuable?

The CloudGuard Network Security solution has given us an overview yet has allowed us to segment the cloud in many ways. We can create networks where we can separate the data, information, and structure of history. We can segment databases into smaller groups by type or quality of the resource.

What needs improvement?

We're able to validate in a logical and physical way across layers and can segment data to allow for greater reach in terms of management. In the future, we'd like characteristics to be further simplified. While today we can manage some scopes, there are still some segments in the OSI layer we cannot manage. We'd like visibility on security and perimeter management qualities in order to reach other layers of the OSI model. Right now, we don't have the scope to reach some physical layers.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for less than a year.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Helpful network security threat tools with great support and useful dashboards
Pros and Cons
  • "Workflows across the company ecosystem have can flow smoothly without experiencing any challenges."
  • "We have developed a modern digital infrastructure that can access and give reliable reports based on real-time results."
  • "The operations require skilled manpower with extended experience of working with networking systems for better results."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for safeguarding the network security infrastructure. This has been one of the greatest achievements since we come across CloudGuard Network Security.

It has launched effective security measures that can monitor security and provide feedback.

Workflows across the company ecosystem have can flow smoothly without experiencing any challenges.

The multi-channel security system monitors our cloud and hybrid servers. Transfer of files from the company database to the cloud servers goes through secure channels mapped by this platform.

How has it helped my organization?

A well-established encryption system now secures communication and workflow management systems. Data compromisation situations reported before have been fully eliminated since we deployed this software. There is increased production with secure workflow channels. The IT team can access and control the network security of interlinked company applications. We have developed a modern digital infrastructure that can access and give reliable reports based on real-time results. We no longer experience continuous system failures with automated performance monitoring tools.

What is most valuable?

Network security threat tools can launch and give advanced reports to the IT team on the future performance of various systems.

The data analysis dashboards provide comprehensive reports and graphic representations of network security.

We have secured our digital systems with high-grade security tools that cannot be bypassed by ransomware attacks. The customer service technical team provided virtual training to our team and provided the best article guidelines.

The automatic features seal all loopholes that could be exploited by cybercriminals.

What needs improvement?

The operations require skilled manpower with extended experience of working with networking systems for better results.

The cost depends on company size, and licensing terms are not favorable to small-scale businesses.

The good sides are many from my experience, and I could recommend it to any growing company that requires the best-performing network security. From the first deployment, we have experienced improved and secure network infrastructure. We have been working closely with the customer service team, and there is no situation that has led to negative objections.

A combination of on-premises and cloud computing services under one interface could enhance simple and comprehensive monitoring.

They can integrate tools with policy recommendations and notification alerts on when to remove specific objects of the user's choice.
