In the Indian market, we need to design a solution with built-in security when considering areas of improvement for the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform.

When comparing it with Fortinet and Palo Alto, which are top players in the Indian market, we are currently lacking in that aspect.

I would like to have a physical appliance to use with the orchestrator for managing all EdgeConnect appliances. Currently, it's a virtual appliance. I would also like the management of EdgeConnect appliances to be incorporated into Aruba Central Cloud Central.

The room for improvement for the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform is pricing, as people are purchasing this product less and less because of pricing where I give connectivity.

I haven't had a problem using the product since day one. As a matter of fact, I got it up and running by just reading the quick start guide and deploying it. It is really easy to deploy. I guess the tool should give you a little more flexibility on what you can show on the main window, which can be an area of improvement. It is not necessary to make such improvements because it is easy to get to it, especially during the live monitoring of tunnels, and then pick the tunnel you want to see as opposed to having it all on a single screen on the dashboard. It is not an important feature.

One area for improvement is the Intel support integration. The security could also improve.

In future releases, I would like to see security features, so Aruba might need some firewalls, like other vendors. 

For example, Fortinet gives the same feature, but it's gives the feature, that we can use the firewall as well. But, inside the Aruba, I didn't see this feature, secure device, I didn't see the feature. 

Although it's secure, we established a secure tunnel between all the branches, but still, Aruba might need some security features to be enhanced inside this product. It might be that Aruba doesn't need that one. But the vendor, if they are giving some extra security feature availability, they also give that feature.

Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform needs to improve integrations with other vendors. 

This solution is suitable for small to medium-sized companies. If we have large-sized companies it is better to use Cisco or Palo Alto.

The development software could improve the integration with cloud-based environments.

The network intelligence could be improved. It provides valuable insights. This network intelligence is important to get more information. There could be more improvement in module issue tests and Internet connectivity.

They need to improve the switching solution.

The scan controller can be introduced in the next release.

I expect automation in the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform's next release. 

At the moment, for us, it is a very good solution because it has all the features we need and it is not so expensive. Hence, it seems to be a good solution for us.

The support, which is the direct support from Aruba, has shortcomings and needs to be improved.

There were issues, but now it is improving.

More technical sessions should be offered for deploying the solution. There are different circumstances for each customer. One might need the solution virtually and one might need it as a hardware. Demo implementations showing a variety of options would be beneficial. Data sheets, guides, and videos on the portal are good but not enough because we need to know more about the solution. We want to be strong technically with regard to deployments. 

We want more information on the add-ons and the solution's deep advantages. For example, our customer has experience with Riverbed WAN optimization. We have a trusting, long-term relationship with the customer and want to be able to guarantee the solution is better. With the solution being new to Egypt, we see the features and capabilities but need to know they will work in our customer's environment. 

We would like to have better features for path selection. For example, if we know the network is going to go down then we would like to set up an alternate route for data packets in real-time.

The firewall should be enhanced because the one that is included is very limited in terms of features.

There are some functional limitations that could improve.

The security can be improved, with the firewall for example, because they supply a basic one but not a UTM. This is why you always need another product to go with it, such as one by Fortinet or Check Point.

We would like to see a VPN included.

Their WAN optimization in terms of wireless connectivity doesn't have a very good cellular capability. I know of another company that does a much better job called Peplink. I have not specifically used Peplink but I am hearing from a lot of my clients who say Peplink has a great product and does things similar to the way Silver Peak does, but they had a better EdgeConnect type of device that functions very well on cellular connectivity.

I like this solution and I work well with it. But they have to implement more security with it. The security, mainly their firewall functions, have to be included in the firewall features.
They have to work on their integration with other vendors, like Versa does, integrating some little appliance inside of the boxes with a firewall feature. I think that they have to work the other way. It's not within their firewall feature.

The only thing I can point to is their lack of security integration.

I would like to see better documentation for the integration of STDP traffic acceleration. That's one of the major things that people do not have good documentation for, and do not know how to deploy. Maybe a feature deployment guide is something that they can create.

More specific knowledge base articles would be of benefit. They have a CLI guide, but it does not come handily when it is time to deploy.

When it comes to features, there is no documentation that lists the details concerning them. They need to create a feature guide. For example, if somebody wants to know if a feature is supported, or what the benefits of it are, or what the loopholes are that they should be aware of, there is no documentation for that.

Reporting is something that they can improve on. Specifically, I would like a bandwidth monitoring tool. They have brilliant graphs that show bandwidth savings, but I would like to see it on a per-application basis.

Another thing that I find is that many people do not know about this solution. It should be marketed better so that people are more aware of it.
