It's cost-effective and simple
Pros and Cons
  • "Basically, I set Wasabi up and forget it. I'll monitor it every once in a while just to make sure that it's working correctly."
  • "I don't have enough experience to understand the nuances of where they might improve."

What is our primary use case?

I use Wasabi for cloud backup. I don't what else you can use it for.

What is most valuable?

Basically, I set Wasabi up and forget it. I'll monitor it every once in a while just to make sure that it's working correctly. It's cost-effective and simple.

What needs improvement?

I don't have enough experience to understand the nuances of where they might improve. You can sign in to your account and monitor it. Beyond that, I don't know if there are any other bells and whistles that I could subscribe to. I don't use my cell phone to monitor it, so I couldn't comment on that.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Wasabi for a couple of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I'm going to assume that Wasabi is stable. I haven't had the chance to try it out extensively, so I really can't comment one way or the other. I trust that it's good because software vendors recommend it.

How was the initial setup?

Wasabi is much easier to set up than the AWS solution.

What was our ROI?

I've used Amazon Web Services S3, and Wasabi is considerably less expensive. You save a lot of money for the same capabilities, and it's also easier to set up than Amazon Web Services. So this is my go-to solution for cloud storage.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I can only tell you that Wasabi costs about half what Amazon Web Services is charging. Now, the cost per month is a more difficult question. That varies depending on the capacity, the services you're employing, and that type of thing. So it's a question that doesn't have an answer without a specific case study. But, all in all, it's also easier to understand how much they will charge you for storage.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Wasabi 10 out of 10. The only advice I have for others is to choose a backup software solution that will integrate with Wasabi, so you have that capability.

Top 5
Used as primary repository, compatible with Veeam Software at minimal pricing

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution as our primary repository. We also use local repositories as servers and local storage, but Wasabi is our first choice on the cloud.

What is most valuable?

We have at least one Petabyte of Wasabi. It is very cheap. It is 100% compatible with Veeam Software. It is a piece of cake to do it to work. It's plug-and-play, but we don't pay for the transactions. One of the best features is that all the data is stored in the air. We recover the data the moment we want. It's different from AWS in that it's code storage. You send the data to AWS, and the moment you need to recover, you need to warm up that data so you can recover.

What needs improvement?

It's an opportunity to have a data center in Brazil because, nowadays, all data centers are outside Brazil. So, if you can have a data center inside the field to work, it's an excellent opportunity.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Wasabi as a repository for four years.

How are customer service and support?

Support is nice. The response time is very fast whenever we need it, and they usually solve our problems. We have very few problems with Wasabi, but when we need to talk to them, they provide a very fast response, and we usually need to exchange one or two emails to address our problem.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. We have a local backup when we deploy a new environment with GEM software. It easily integrates with GEM software for sending and recovering files.

What other advice do I have?

The first one concerns the price. The second is that it's on hot storage. We don't need to wait to recover our files. It's just a matter of asking to recover, sending a command to Veeam, and starting to recover files. The third is compatibility, as it was one of the first cloud storage systems compatible with Veeam.

Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.
