Helps reduce alerts because it can correlate the data
Pros and Cons
  • "They provide a map, a process tree, and that is pretty good for analysis."
  • "It would help if they could get all the relevant threat information, the related events, in one place. Currently, we need to go to a number of places and do research. If they could have it all in one place, that would help investigations."

What is our primary use case?

We use it mainly for EDR, alert handling, and development. It's a detection and response tool. It is mainly for protecting endpoints and having response capabilities. We use it as the one endpoint solution for all departments and all operating systems.

How has it helped my organization?

We get a lot of data from SentinelOne about threats, and obviously that helps protect the organization.

It helps reduce alerts because it can correlate the data. It doesn't just depend on hashes. It can see the behaviors, and that helps a lot to reduce alerts. Compared to our previous tool, it is detecting 20 to 30 percent fewer false alerts.

In addition, because it has real-time detection, it helps decrease our MTTR. Within seconds, we'll get the data. And for mean time to respond, we need to collect the data, and most of it is available. So it takes us five to 10 minutes to respond after detection.

For our organization, security is very important. If a solution is protecting us, it is like saving money. With SentinelOne's features and the fact that it is in the cloud, that makes it cheaper. As an EDR tool—the best one—it helps to reduce risk; in our organization by 30 to 40 percent.

What is most valuable?

They provide a map, a process tree, and that is pretty good for analysis.

Also, it can be integrated with third-party threat intelligence tools. From that perspective, it's good. And we can ingest SentinelOne data into Splunk and correlate and provide analysis on that.

It gets data from all the endpoints, and we'll have that in a centralized place, and we can track those cases to detect the threats. It helps protect the organization in that way.

And Ranger provides network and asset visibility. We have network-level data visibility, as well as endpoint data and application layer data. It has a good feature to collect all the domains that are initiated. That helps us see if there are any malicious connections on the machines. And it's simple because Ranger requires no new agents, hardware, or network changes.

What needs improvement?

They could add more visibility on the network side. That is currently done via a plugin.

Also, it would help if they could get all the relevant threat information, the related events, in one place. Currently, we need to go to a number of places and do research. If they could have it all in one place, that would help investigations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with SentinelOne Singularity Complete for about one and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution and it is growing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It can be extended in the cloud, so the scalability is a 9 out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The tech support is really good. We get responses on time, as defined in the SLAs.

How was the initial setup?

The SentinelOne team helps with the implementation, and as it is a cloud SaaS application, we didn't have to do much. They have pretty well-defined documentation, and it is straightforward. And similarly, the maintenance is taken care of by the vendor.

What was our ROI?

We are seeing ROI because we are securing and protecting the company and, obviously, protecting its money as well. As an EDR, it's doing a good job of protecting the endpoints.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is comparatively cheap in the market and provides a good price point.

What other advice do I have?

In terms of maturity, SentinelOne is a good tool.

It can be used in any department in an environment with Windows, Linux, and Mac machines.

Use it, but start with documentation. Once you understand the basics, it is pretty straightforward.

Helps to concentrate on what is needed and provide a better response to our customers
Pros and Cons
  • "The overview is valuable. There are a lot of instances out there, but Singularity Complete cuts the noise down by giving us graphics and color-coding information instead of massive tech dumps. It helps us concentrate on what is actually needed versus just the noise."
  • "The improvement could be in terms of reducing more noise and continuing to cut that down. AI seems to be the big thing with Purple. We are excited to get our hands on that."

What is our primary use case?

We are an MSSP.

How has it helped my organization?

First of all, it helps us with a better response to the end users. Customers are depending on us to make sure we are making the right call, and then we are leaning on SentinelOne to make sure they are giving us the right call by giving us the right tools.

Singularity Complete has absolutely helped free up our staff for other projects and tasks. The amount of time that we are spending doing work that does not keep us on target is just a waste of time. The more it reduces that noise, the better it is for us and our customers. We have been using it long enough, so it is hard to tell how much time it has saved, but we feel that we have a better solution than most of the competitors that we are dealing with.

Singularity Complete has helped reduce alerts over time. We do not have a lot of the frustrations that some of our competitors do, which is our advantage. We have been using it for so long, so we do not have much to compare it to in terms of alert reduction. We are also partners with a competitor. We had to do that for a contract, and we get a lot of false positive noise coming out of that one.

Singularity Complete has helped reduce our organizational risk, but because we have been with it for so long, it is hard to compare it to others.

Singularity Complete helps us save on costs. We continue to get more volume, reduce our costs, and reduce our waste of time, but it is hard to compare the cost savings because we have been using it for so long. We have smooth operations, and we are just keeping it going. We are enjoying all the added features.

SentinelOne is our main strategic partner when it comes to the protection of our customer's data. We have not had a bad incident, and with the reputation that SentinelOne has in the vertical we deal with, it is the gold standard. We start with that, and then we are viewed as more of a serious partner than some of the lesser products that are out there.

In terms of Singularity Complete’s interoperability with other SentinelOne solutions and other third-party tools, we are an MSSP, so we have to deal with a lot of other tools. The integrations are huge for us. It sounds nice to say this is the only solution and you have to use x tools, but it does not work in the real world, so you have to have those integrations.

What is most valuable?

The overview is valuable. There are a lot of instances out there, but Singularity Complete cuts the noise down by giving us graphics and color-coding information instead of massive tech dumps. It helps us concentrate on what is actually needed versus just the noise. There is just so much noise. It brings us the information we need to look at quickly.

What needs improvement?

The improvement could be in terms of reducing more noise and continuing to cut that down. AI seems to be the big thing with Purple. We are excited to get our hands on that.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Singularity Complete since its inception. It was probably 2016.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Its stability is fantastic. We have no problems.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not hit the top end. We are probably running 10,000 agents and have not seen any degradation in the portal.

How are customer service and support?

Their support is very good. We have not had anything come up against that, and our staff has learned to depend on SentinelOne, which, as management, is a little uneasy because we are operating without a net besides SentinelOne in some cases. What we are paying for it is worth it. There is this peace of mind. I would rate their support a ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Years ago, we were probably running four to five solutions, but then we kept comparing it with them. We were like, "This is the noise we are getting from X. Let us load SentinelOne." The noise reduced with SentinelOne. That proof of concept worked for us.

We currently have an agreement with a competitor where we have to pick up the remaining part of their contract. That is not a place where we are going to increase our expenditure, but we are waiting for that contract to come to an end. The customer knows SentinelOne, but they are tied into another solution till the end or mid of 2024. We are just waiting for that. What makes SentinelOne Singularity Complete different from others for us is the peace of mind. We know we are covered, and we feel that we are covered. Anytime we have had an incident or event, they have always been there for us. They have responded quickly, and we have not had any flashbacks or second attempts at it. Usually, we could stop it the first time, and that has worked for us in all the years we have been with SentinelOne.

How was the initial setup?

It is easier now than it was back then. We deploy it every month on somebody new. We have enjoyed that.

Just yesterday, we had a customer convert from a separate partner to us, and that migration from company to company within SentinelOne was flawless. It was just us doing the migration. We have been there for so long, so we just bring it straight across. The process is very straightforward and easy. This partner of SentinelOne was going to uninstall the agents, and I paused them and asked them to just transfer. They had never gone through that before. We took that over and moved all the agents over without any loss of coverage to the actual customer.

What about the implementation team?

For deployments, we have a staff of 40, but onboarding is a no-brainer.

What was our ROI?

We have seen an ROI. It is a very profitable investment for us. SentinelOne is very valuable, and with our price being lower than the expectations gives us a great margin.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have not been beaten in the market by pricing, so we have been feeling good about that. The discussions we have had over the years keep us at a very low price per unit. It can always get better, but we also know there is a cost to the backend.

What other advice do I have?

To someone who is researching Singularity Complete, I would say that you can read all the information, but the proof is in the actual work and the history that it has so far. We have got no complaints about the quality and maturity of this solution.

Make sure you are comparing it to whatever you have because that gives you comparative data. If you walk in, sometimes, you do not know you are getting the best of breed right there.

It is a ten out of ten for me, and it gives me peace of mind.

Provides good protection and helps with network and device control
Pros and Cons
  • "Device control and network control are valuable."
  • "The application management needs improvements, but I understand that they are working on it. We talked to them a few months ago, and it is something they are trying to get up to speed and fix. This way, we will be able to disable critical apps or vulnerable apps through SentinelOne. We will be able to patch applications or disable applications through the Application Management tab."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for endpoint protection. It is our antivirus and EDR solution.

We are also using it for device control, such as blocking USBs, and we also use it for network control. We are blocking port access on machines.

How has it helped my organization?

Singularity Complete has saved us time. I recently did the agent upgrade. I used their upgrade policy and just specified the maintenance window and things like that. The first two times I updated the agents, I used to sit there and highlight the endpoints and run agent updates, but this time, I used auto-upgrade. With auto-upgrade, it ran between 6 PM to 8 AM, and then it ran all day on the weekend, and it was up in there. In one day, it updated 1,000 endpoints. That was pretty cool. I did not have to sit there and do the manual work. I just watched the system to make sure that the endpoints got updated. That was pretty cool. It is nice to know that I do not have to sit there, and I can just create a policy and let it go. It definitely saves time.

Singularity Complete has reduced our mean time to detect (MTTD). I get an email pretty much right off the bat. When an alert pops up, I get an email from my ticketing system, so it is pretty quick. If I am on my desk. I take care of it pretty quickly. Currently, I am the main person running this, and other people back me up when I am not around. I am hoping I can get somebody else trained on this.

Singularity Complete has helped reduce our organizational risk. It is somewhere in the middle when it comes to contributing to our security posture.

SentinelOne has been a good partner. We mostly use Mac and Windows systems, and we were able to do device control and network control out of SentinelOne rather than through MDM. We are doing it all through SentinelOne. We did not have any conflict in the apps.

In terms of interoperability, we have plugged it into our Alert Logic MDR. It flags to our MDR. For example, if a threat cannot be mitigated or it is hard to mitigate a threat, then the MDR will notify us. Some of the things related to applications could use some work, but they are in the process of fixing this. We will then be able to update and disable applications through SentinelOne.

What is most valuable?

Device control and network control are valuable.

They updated the console, and on the incidents page, we can break down the incidents and see all attack attempts. It is pretty cool and in-depth.

What needs improvement?

The application management needs improvements, but I understand that they are working on it. We talked to them a few months ago, and it is something they are trying to get up to speed and fix. This way, we will be able to disable critical apps or vulnerable apps through SentinelOne. We will be able to patch applications or disable applications through the Application Management tab.

Singularity Complete has not helped reduce alerts. In fact, it produces a lot of false positives. It does its job, but I have spent the last week fine-tuning the system and trying to suppress false positives. I am getting a hang of it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SentinelOne Singularity Complete for about a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Its stability is very good. Recently, one person had an issue, and I had to reinstall the agent. They had lost their Internet connectivity. We put in some strategy work, and we had to go in there and figure out which ports are open, but other than that, it has been very good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Its scalability is pretty good.

How are customer service and support?

I have interacted with their support. They are always pretty easy to get a hold of. I never have to wait. They are helpful. They have resolved any issue that I have ever brought up with them in a timely manner. I would rate them a 10 out of 10.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

It is a cloud solution. I inherited it, so I was not there when they implemented it. It was implemented about six months before I got hired. It was probably deployed in late 2021, and I started in February 2022.

It requires a little bit of maintenance in terms of fine-tuning the false positives and things like that. For example, because people use Logitech devices, I had to suppress the alerts because they kept popping up because the hash was always different. I have noticed that when a new agent comes, it can be a little aggressive in the beginning. I have to fine-tune the alerts a little bit, but that is a part of the process. I update the agents twice a year. I will try to do it more because now I know how the upgrade policy works. The only thing I am not yet good at is reviewing the Mac logs. Windows logs are easy because of the years of Windows experience and the use of Windows Event Viewer. I just got to be better with the Mac logs.

What was our ROI?

In terms of cost savings, I am starting to get into the budget, but we have not got any malware or serious incidents. There are money savings when you do not have serious incidents.

We have not had any downtime. We have not had anybody's machines compromised. It has been protecting the endpoints pretty well. It has been pretty quiet. We have not had anything that we would consider a major incident, so it is doing pretty well.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not know much about it. From what I understand, it is pricey, but it works. It is a very good product.

What other advice do I have?

I also used SentinelOne five years ago at another company, and I find it to be way better now. It is a much more refined product. It does not actively scan the system the way it used to. It has come a long way in terms of performance on the machines. It does not hinder the performance of developers' machines. I hear no complaints about SentinelOne blocking or grinding machines to a halt with scans when developers are doing builds and things like that. It has improved greatly. Five years ago, I used to hear complaints about SentinelOne slowing down the systems, but I have not heard that once here.

We tested the Ranger functionality a bit. We were demoing it. Ranger was pretty cool for the visibility of devices, but we did not find a use for it.

Overall, I would rate SentinelOne Singularity Complete a 9 out of 10.

Has a user-friendly UI, saves us time, and reduces alerts
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface, ease of maintenance, and the efficient way to identify the root cause of an incident to see all the factors that contributed to it are the most valuable features."
  • "The mobile agents need improvement, especially in their integration with the dashboard of the normal Windows Image-based agents."

What is our primary use case?

We use SentinelOne Singularity Complete as our next-generation EDR agent to block attacks in our environment.

We had some issues at one of the companies, where they were unable to block a ransomware attack. In my opinion, the EDR agent that we were using at the time was outdated and primarily relied on identifying malware by its signature or hash. This means that it could only detect known attacks. I believe that this was the main reason why the agent failed to block the ransomware attack.

How has it helped my organization?

We have integrated SentinelOne Singularity Complete with Azure AD and Fortinet, and we are aiming to integrate the system with Mimecast. The integration is seamless when we log in with enough permissions we are ready to go.

Ranger provides network and asset visibility. The installed agents can scan across networks that they are in. We can also set Ranger to require a minimum number of agents on a site before scanning begins. This prevents Ranger from scanning home networks when someone is working remotely with only one agent. In the pilot program, we set the minimum number of agents to zero, so Ranger began scanning for other endpoints on the site as soon as it was installed.

Ranger requires no new agents, hardware, or network changes. It gives us much more insight into what is actually happening on our networks, which is what we were looking for. Additionally, the way that SentinelOne allows us to isolate protected endpoints from unprotected endpoints is very nice. It is a very easy step into a network access control solution without all the overhead of doing that. It is a very basic way to get on the same level.

At this moment, we feel that we are in full control of the stages of managed endpoints. We didn't have that feeling before, but now we know that if we don't receive an alert from the system after a while, then we can be 99.9 percent sure that nothing is wrong. When we do get an alert, we need to take action. It may be a minor or major issue, but we need to do something. Regarding new installations of agents on new endpoints, we had some initial concerns that the agent would try to block applications running on those endpoints. However this issue only occurred on 8,000 endpoints, and we were able to resolve it by setting up an exclusion for the affected application. This was minor work, but it used to take a lot of time to install new agents on new endpoints with our previous solution. Now, both IT and other departments feel confident that we are in control. This is a huge difference.

Singularity Complete has helped reduce our false positive alerts. We used to receive hundreds of false positives each day until we implemented Singularity Complete, and now the false positive count is down to five per day. We also use the MDR services of SentinelOne. They are handling that for us, and we get a good insight into what actually happened. This is a huge difference.

Singularity Complete has helped free up time for our staff to work on other projects. Compared to the time we spent with the previous solution, we are now saving about 70 percent of our staff's time.

It has reduced our MTTD. It has also helped save our organizational costs. We are paying 20 percent less than our previous solution.

What is most valuable?

The user interface, ease of maintenance, and the efficient way to identify the root cause of an incident to see all the factors that contributed to it are the most valuable features.

What needs improvement?

The mobile agents need improvement, especially in their integration with the dashboard of the normal Windows Image-based agents. The goal was to achieve full integration support, but this has not yet happened. The integration is incomplete.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SentinelOne Singularity Complete for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is extremely stable. We have not had any downtime on the cloud.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is scalable. To scale, we simply need to install agents, and the rest is taken care of by SentinelOne.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is quick to respond and provide answers.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Trend Micro but switched to SentinelOne Singularity Complete after a successful ransomware attack. We were already looking for a different solution because Trend Micro was time-consuming to maintain, difficult to extract information from, and generated a lot of false positives. We never felt in control of our security posture.

How was the initial setup?

The initial deployment was straightforward. We first ran SentinelOne Singularity Complete in parallel with Trend Micro. This means that the agents can run in a monitoring policy or process, which sends us information about what the agent would block if it were in blocking mode. When we are confident that it is safe to switch to a blocking policy or policies, we can do so with a single click in the dashboard, and the agent or group of agents or all agents will start blocking. This is very easy to do, and we were able to deploy the agents to all endpoints in a matter of weeks.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a fair price.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate SentinelOne Singularity Complete nine out of ten.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is not a static platform, and new features are released all the time. This adds new value to the product on a regular basis. Compared to other systems, which can be difficult to understand, Singularity Complete is seamless and easy to use. We don't need to do anything to activate new features, and we are notified by email when they are ready to use. It is then up to us to decide whether or not to use them.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a mature solution, and our organization is booming because of it. We're not experiencing the issues that we typically encounter with new companies or solutions.

We have 800 users and Singularity Complete is deployed across multiple countries and locations.

For maintenance, we need to ensure our agents are always up to date.

We decided to start using the mobile agents because they were part of our initial purchase. We have already taken the next step and are now looking into Ranger AD. We will be looking into this next year to increase our security level. SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a very easy-to-use product that provides a high level of security and is very usable for us. This is how most security solutions should work. I am very positive about SentinelOne Singularity Complete as our security partner.

I suggest doing a POC to see if SentinelOne Singularity Complete is the right fit.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Provides immediate MTTD, and automatic remediation, but the support needs a lot of work
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the automatic remediation."
  • "SentinelOne's customer support is sluggish and frequently fails to deliver sufficient assistance."

What is our primary use case?

We use SentinelOne Singularity Complete for our endpoint security.

How has it helped my organization?

The visibility that SentinelOne Singularity Complete provides throughout our organization is good.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete's capability to intake and correlate across our security solutions is great. As long as we have configured everything correctly and are monitoring the logs to respond to potential threats, we have the assurance that the threats are being identified and thwarted. A year ago, we faced a malicious attack that was detected and halted by SentinelOne EDR, which played a pivotal role in saving me.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has certainly helped reduce the number of alerts we were receiving. Previously, I was using McAfee, and I had numerous threats and malware present in my environment that were only detected by SentinelOne Singularity Complete. This assistance facilitated the remediation of those threats and subsequently led to a decrease in security alerts.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has saved us time by identifying the threats in real-time saving us long investigation times.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete's MTTD is immediate.

The MTTR is good.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the automatic remediation.

What needs improvement?

The reporting dashboards require improvement. Currently, they lack customization options, preventing me from generating a summarized executive report for management.

SentinelOne's customer support is sluggish and frequently fails to deliver sufficient assistance. The quality of after-sales support is also subpar and requires enhancement. The support is not meeting the expected standards, and as a result, I am feeling dissatisfied.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SentinelOne Singularity Complete for one and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is stable.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support are unsatisfactory. I have been attempting to initiate the MDR services and have reached out to my account representative at SentinelOne for three months now, with no results. I am disappointed that I am unable to integrate any details into my environment, which would allow me to present information on a monthly and quarterly basis. I require this information to assess the performance with my MDR representative, but these matters are not progressing. I feel deceived.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Negative

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used McAfee but it was not able to detect some of the malware threats that SentinelOne Singularity Complete does.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward as long as we are not dealing with legacy systems. In the manufacturing industry, many systems utilize older operating systems like Windows 2000, which run traditional applications that cannot be removed. Deploying on Unix is also challenging, whereas Windows Ten is straightforward.

We deploy in large manufacturing environments and there were around 80 people involved in the deployments.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was completed by the SentinelOne team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete can be expensive for the SMB market but is suitable for enterprise-level organizations. The service provided by SentinelOne is not up to par with the cost we are paying.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I carried out a Proof of Concept with several Endpoint Detection and Response solutions, including CrowdStrike, Trend Micro, and VMware. However, none of them were able to meet my requirements in the same way that SentinelOne Singularity Complete does.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate SentinelOne Singularity Complete a six out of ten.

Currently, I have not yet completed the integration with third-party tools. However, I am utilizing the Sentinel logs as inputs for my Security Operations Center services, and I am gaining comprehensive visibility from this approach.

Offers threat hunting, visibility, and malware protection in one console
Pros and Cons
  • "I find the product very easy to maintain and troubleshoot. Their engineers are very helpful if you need additional assistance. It's one of the best products I've used. It's easy to use from my standpoint, both for troubleshooting and with the support we get from their team if necessary."
  • "It would be nice to be able to adjust the canned reports manually and choose the specific data we want to report on instead of being limited to their pre-set reports."

What is our primary use case?

We use the tool for malware protection and the XDR portion to track intrusions and possible exploitations.

What is most valuable?

I find the product very easy to maintain and troubleshoot. Their engineers are very helpful if you need additional assistance. It's one of the best products I've used. It's easy to use from my standpoint, both for troubleshooting and with the support we get from their team if necessary.

I find its interoperability with other solutions very good. When there are issues, because everything eventually has issues, the team is very good about running logs and finding out what portion is having issues. We can either exclude a portion of it or make it work. They find a solution.

We haven't had any issues with how we ingest or correlate data across security solutions. We use APIs and things like that to ingest data. For us, we haven't had any issues with the tools we use, but I can't speak for other organizations.

We now have threat hunting, visibility, and malware protection in one console. There are other portions we don't leverage because we choose to keep them separate, like our firewall, but we could if we wanted to.

The solution has helped us reduce false positives. We still get alerts, but I think they're more dynamic now. We have fewer issues with systems. It doesn't take as many resources, so we don't have outages caused by hijacking resources. We've probably reduced our issues with that by 90 percent from the previous program we were using.

The tool has helped free up our team's time. Especially when it comes to upgrades, I went from taking several months with the previous software to getting it done in a week or two for 15,000 to 17,000 assets. It's freed up months.

While I don't track mean time to detect specifically, I know it's very quick because of the way it detects intrusions. It's anomaly-based, not signature-based. It will flag something, review it, determine whether it's a false positive or actually malicious, and then quarantine it. It's pretty instantaneous. We've averted several ransomware attempts before they could infect anything.

Our mean time to respond has decreased significantly. The response is much quicker now, especially since very little gets reverted to us for handling. The Vigilance AI portion usually takes care of most of it, determining the severity of something and whether it needs human attention.

It has helped us save costs, particularly regarding fewer infections throughout the network. While I don't have exact numbers, we've had a reduction in costs associated with reimaging machines due to malware.

What needs improvement?

It would be nice to be able to adjust the canned reports manually and choose the specific data we want to report on instead of being limited to their pre-set reports.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In terms of stability, we have no downtime from SentinelOne Singularity Complete. We may have some complications with interoperability when we deploy something new that didn't get tested, but that's usually not SentinelOne's fault. It's usually because a third party changed something that had already been whitelisted.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We haven't had any issues with scalability. It scales very well from small to large. We're at 16,000 endpoints, and it's very easy to deploy and manage.

How are customer service and support?

I've contacted technical support myself. Their response time depends on the severity with which you submit the case. For low priority, it takes about a day or two. For high priority, it's within an hour or two, according to their SLA. They're very prompt.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We switched from Symantec to SentinelOne Singularity Complete mainly because of cost and technology changes. Symantec wasn't changing quickly enough as technology moved toward the cloud, and things were going faster. Broadcom was still using heavy, clunky on-premises agents that used a lot of resources. SentinelOne Singularity Complete was new, next-gen, smoother, and quicker with less downtime. They manage their end in the cloud, so we don't have to maintain our console.

How was the initial setup?

We saw the benefits immediately after deployment. The deployment was seamless, easy to learn, and easy to use—very intuitive. The initial deployment was pretty seamless and easy. It took us about six months to fully deploy, but that was because we did it in segments. We're a global organization with many different entities, so we had to do it segmented. It probably would have taken us a quarter if we had just set it out all at once.

The only maintenance we require is keeping our agents up to date. We do this manually because we go through a change approval process to ensure we don't introduce anything that will harm the system. We then test and deploy.

What about the implementation team?

We used SentinelOne's guidance, but we did the deployment ourselves in-house.

What other advice do I have?

My impression of SentinelOne Singularity Complete as a strategic security partner is that it's state-of-the-art, easy, and uncomplicated. As an engineer, I find the product easy to deploy, maintain, and efficiently. I rate the overall solution a ten out of ten.

I advise new users to read the manual before they start using it. Understand all the different modules to utilize them as intended and get the best out of them. Also, use their support if you have questions before you deploy. Get a game plan and follow their recommendations.

Robust security with efficient threat detection, minimal false positives and user-friendly features, empowering organizations to safeguard their systems effectively
Pros and Cons
  • "The platform is user-friendly, easy to administer, and aligns well with GDPR requirements, which is crucial for us."
  • "It primarily operates on local machines, monitoring processes, and not always providing detailed insights, relying on external information to determine the nature of a file."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use cases involve Endpoint Detection and Response and Extended Detection and Response.

How has it helped my organization?

My positive experience with SentinelOne lies in its comprehensive version, allowing for rollback and replay of events, which is especially useful for EDR. The strength of behavior-based solutions like SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, CyberArk, and others lies in their ability to reveal the consequences of opening a file. Witnessing the impact of a virus gaining control over a computer or understanding the ramifications of opening a file adds a layer of insight.

It stands out for its seamless interoperability with other SentinelOne products and tools, facilitated by REST interfaces. This integration is particularly potent when connecting SentinelOne as an endpoint solution to firewalls like Fortinet, allowing the firewall to receive insights from SentinelOne clients. In today's landscape, where file transfers often occur through encrypted channels, traditional firewalls face challenges in inspecting these streams effectively. SentinelOne's endpoint security addresses this by analyzing downloaded files in their decrypted form, providing a crucial layer of protection. The bidirectional information flow between the firewall and endpoint security, enabled by SentinelOne's REST API, empowers proactive threat prevention and detection, contributing to a robust cybersecurity posture.

Utilizing SentinelOne has significantly reduced the number of alerts for us. We might have experienced more false positives and missed potential attacks without it. Its alert system is efficient, with a low rate of false positives compared to other solutions I've heard about. Managing alerts is straightforward, and the platform allows for creating white lists to handle false positives, such as those related to old printer drivers. The administration is user-friendly, offering features like multi-factor authentication for secure connections to the console and automatic updates within the SentinelOne interface.

It has proven to be a time-saver for our staff, significantly reducing the likelihood of falling victim to various cyber threats. By addressing the spectrum of attacks, from initial malware infiltration to potential worst-case scenarios like Active Directory compromise, SentinelOne has played a pivotal role. It effectively diminishes the probability of becoming a target for attacks that exploit stolen passwords, infiltrate the company's IT infrastructure, and escalate privileges, ultimately leading to severe consequences such as a randomized Active Directory.

What is most valuable?

The platform is user-friendly, easy to administer, and aligns well with GDPR requirements, which is crucial for us. What makes SentinelOne stand out is its speed and efficiency, consuming minimal computing resources. It operates by checking data only when it's accessed, synchronizing with the process that opens the data which is well-designed and effective.

I don't actively use SentinelOne's Ranger functionality because we haven't implemented it university-wide. While we've employed it in specific cases, my experience with it is limited. However, it provides valuable insights into past events, allowing you to trace the history of a virus download or malware activity. For instance, you might discover that a virus was downloaded two weeks ago using the Safari web browser, saved to the computer, and later opened with Excel, triggering certain actions before SentinelOne intervened. The ability to roll back such ransom actions is a valuable capability provided by SentinelOne.

What needs improvement?

It primarily operates on local machines, monitoring processes, and not always providing detailed insights, relying on external information to determine the nature of a file. This limitation becomes apparent in more complex scenarios, such as analyzing or assessing the content of files at the byte level, especially in cases involving files like Excel, where there may be some difficulty in discerning potential issues. They should consider incorporating a cloud-based service where users can upload suspicious links, documents like Excel sheets, or ambiguous files to observe their behavior in a sandbox environment. Currently, with SentinelOne, the process involves setting up a separate network and machine for this purpose, requiring users to upload the file and monitor its behavior on the dedicated machine. Offering a free and accessible service like this would be a noteworthy enhancement to their product, providing users with a convenient and efficient way to analyze potentially harmful content.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with it for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate its stability capabilities ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate its scalability abilities nine out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I am highly satisfied with their technical support; it is truly excellent. I would rate it ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Comparatively, SentinelOne has certain drawbacks, particularly when measured against CrowdStrike. CrowdStrike offers a free sandbox at hybrid-analysis.com, allowing the examination of links and downloaded files on a virtual machine. This proves especially valuable in assessing potential phishing emails. Uploading the file or link to hybrid-analysis.com provides a detailed analysis, complete with screenshots of what transpires on the virtual machine. This includes actions like the opening of links, prompting CEO impersonation attempts, and other background information. While SentinelOne may lack these specific features, its advantage lies in being an all-encompassing solution, whereas CrowdStrike functions primarily as a managed service, which may not align with specific preferences.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment of Singularity Complete involved some consultation, as we collaborated with a partner who facilitated the onboarding process with SentinelOne. While the partner occasionally provides support, larger issues are infrequent, and overall, the deployment has been relatively smooth. We have implemented it across various locations. There is some maintenance involved in managing Singularity Complete.

What was our ROI?

It's challenging to quantify precisely, but the implementation of Singularity Complete has significantly reduced organizational risks. Currently, we employ it on critical systems, constituting approximately fifty percent of our infrastructure.

What other advice do I have?

Creating separate groups for various types of computers, like Windows servers and clients, enables efficient management and customization of security configurations tailored to specific needs. Overall, I would rate it ten out of ten.

Great real-time alerts, deep visibility, and threat-hunting modules
Pros and Cons
  • "I am particularly interested in the new app vulnerability module that is included with the Singularity Complete edition."
  • "I would appreciate it if they would consider providing a comprehensive vulnerability assessment report that goes beyond just application vulnerabilities."

What is our primary use case?

We deploy SentinelOne Singularity Complete as an EDR on our customers' endpoints for real-time monitoring and incident response.

How has it helped my organization?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has reduced our alerts by up to 15 percent.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has enabled our staff to redirect their time toward other projects and responsibilities. We do not have a dedicated SOC team, but we utilize SentinelOne to manage security incidents. The incident volume is manageable for our team to handle, and we do not require full-time staff solely dedicated to security tasks. Instead, we rotate incident management and response responsibilities among our team members.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has reduced our MTTD and MTTR. The initial and immediate response required to collect foreign evidence or logs is handled by SentinelOne. This provides us with the locations or parts where the infection spread and where the incident originated, which helps us in troubleshooting or at least getting a vague idea of where to start. We can then dive into the threat setting to see what kind of information we can gather from the logs. So, I would say that SentinelOne has assisted us in this way. Additionally, we have Proofpoint in our environment because we use it as a backup defense.

What is most valuable?

The real-time alerts, deep visibility, and threat-hunting modules are the most valuable features.

I am particularly interested in the new app vulnerability module that is included with the Singularity Complete edition. We are currently evaluating its capabilities to determine its suitability for our needs.

What needs improvement?

Given that SentinelOne is primarily a host-based intrusion prevention system, I would appreciate it if they would consider providing a comprehensive vulnerability assessment report that goes beyond just application vulnerabilities. Currently, the scope of the vulnerability assessment seems limited, and I don't believe it adequately covers the full spectrum of vulnerabilities that may exist on endpoints. This is a capability that I feel SentinelOne is still lacking, and it's the reason why users still need to rely on other tools for certain isolated cases. If SentinelOne could provide this functionality, it would eliminate the need to look beyond their solution for vulnerability assessment. Apart from the vApp component of Singularity Complete, I believe SentinelOne is already excelling in other areas. However, this is one area where I believe they could introduce additional features to make SentinelOne a truly comprehensive security solution.

I would like to generate a vulnerability assessment report that leverages the national vulnerability database or, if possible, calculates the CDSS score by conducting an endpoint assessment using the SentinelOne agent that is already deployed and resides on endpoints 24/7. I prefer not to deploy additional applications solely for information gathering, as the SentinelOne agent provides ample data for this purpose.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SentinelOne Singularity Complete for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of SentinelOne Singularity Complete nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability of SentinelOne Singularity Complete nine out of ten. I have not encountered any issues when deploying for our clients.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is generally good, but there are instances when they need to consult with the development team before providing a resolution, which is understandable. However, there have been occasional issues with the IVR system not functioning properly.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience using Cisco Nexus and the Nmap Scripting Engine to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen security postures. I have also used Wazuh, primarily for its comprehensive PCIBSS SOC and GDPR compliance reports, which provide detailed vulnerability listings and mitigation strategies. I believe this focus on compliance is crucial as cybersecurity standards become increasingly mandatory for businesses.

We discontinued using Wazuh because we were unwilling to pay $25,000 annually for a product that provided only CIS benchmark support, a basic vulnerability report, and essentially replicated capabilities we already possessed. I believe a Nexus subscription would be a more cost-effective alternative, costing only a quarter of Wazuh's price while still fulfilling our vApp exercise logging requirements. I am capable of conducting vulnerability assessments, applying patches, re-scanning for vulnerabilities, and proceeding to penetration testing. Our primary goal is to provide vApp capabilities to our clients, and that is where we are seeking a solution. If SentinelOne offered this functionality, we would not need to explore alternative options. However, since SentinelOne lacks this crucial capability, we must seek solutions elsewhere.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment is straightforward. We have scripts to do the automatic installation while onboarding. The deployment takes no more than ten minutes.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate SentinelOne Singularity Complete eight out of ten. I've been using the solution for three years now. It's been generally reliable, but certain capabilities are needed in today's environment that are lacking.

Our clients primarily utilize Office365, we also assess Microsoft Defender for 365 to ascertain if it might be a more viable option, especially if clients intend to enroll with Intune and MDM. This option would be more cost-effective as it is already included within their existing licenses.

Most of our clients are small to medium-sized businesses. This is why the logs and the number of endpoints are not very high. So, unless we specifically require the use of Ranger, we don't need it. However, cybersecurity compliance standards are becoming increasingly stringent. As a result, we are looking into obtaining a solution that can help us perform at least the vulnerability assessment and patching tasks, along with complaint handling.

SentinelOne is an innovative cybersecurity solution. In terms of reputation, SentinelOne excels, particularly in passing third-party and independent audits. Having SentinelOne in our environment gives us the confidence to say that our EDR capabilities are well-managed. So, in that regard, SentinelOne is outstanding. Feature-wise, while SentinelOne's patch and new feature releases aren't always perfect, I would rate them an eight out of ten.

SentinelOne is a well-established product in the market. The addition of new features and modules to the existing platform is a significant step forward. The positive reviews of the product further reinforce its value.

The maintenance revolves around moving to the next stable version. Our standard practice is to always test the version before rolling it out. Therefore, internally, we generally update all the endpoints as soon as we have identified the next stable version. This is the only maintenance that is required, as we are using the cloud version.

SentinelOne is a reliable tool that we rely on. However, when it comes to strategic solutions, we need a tool that can provide us with the capabilities to have a broader discussion with the company's management. I'm not sure if SentinelOne can export reports that could be presented to upper management. If we are seeking management approval for a security budget, we can't simply base our conversation on an EDR solution. We need to address a wider range of security concerns as well. Another drawback of SentinelOne is its lack of support for SysLog from network devices. This is a limitation that often leads people to consider integrating SentinelOne with other solutions, such as a SIEM. My feedback is that if I have to deploy SentinelOne and pay $70,000, I would expect it to provide comprehensive capabilities so that I don't need to look for additional solutions. Otherwise, it becomes tough for technicians and the company as a whole to manage multiple solutions for different security modules.

Integrates well, reduces organizational risk, and saves our staff time
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable aspect of SentinelOne Singularity Complete is the protection it provides."
  • "Everything is now offered as a service, so the console and the licensing model can be improved to make things easier, especially when updating new versions of the software."

What is our primary use case?

We use SentinelOne Singularity Complete to protect all of our servers and cloud workloads, whether they are on-premises or hosted in the cloud.

We were transitioning from our legacy antivirus protection system, which required a lot of overhead to maintain, ensure they were up to date, and verify their performance. It also tended to hurt system performance. We therefore sought to move to a modern EDR solution that did not rely on that type of outdated technology. We migrated to SentinelOne, which gave us better protection without the adverse consequences of legacy AV products.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is deployed on workstations, data centers, servers in the public cloud, and all of our mobile devices, which are very numerous.

How has it helped my organization?

The integration between SentinelOne and IBM QRadar, our security operation center SIEM, is important and works extremely well. It means that if there are any alerts on the SentinelOne platform, they will be sent to QRadar, where a stack analyst will review them. This allows us to start working on incidents quickly, without having to have people continuously monitoring the SentinelOne console. Another benefit of the integration is that it makes it easy to deploy new or upgraded versions of the SentinelOne software to all of our endpoints and servers. We simply notify the data center run by the customer success team, and they take care of the deployment. This eliminates the need for IT overhead to keep everything up to date, which is important from a governance perspective.

The integration with other SentinelOne products and third-party tools is very good.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete's ability to ingest and correlate data from our other security solutions is good. If we look at a diagram of our security operation systems, we can see that the SIEM is at the center of everything. All other products, such as SentinelOne, Chain, patch management, and abnormal security for email, feed into the SIEM, which is where the stack measures everything. Therefore, SentinelOne does not integrate with other solutions directly, but rather through the SIEM.

In the three years since we began using SentinelOne Singularity Complete, we have not had a major security incident. We have observed malware entering browsers through websites, but SentinelOne has always dealt with it effectively. Therefore, we see the benefits of the platform in the absence of any significant events. As long as SentinelOne Singularity Complete continues to operate quietly, we are happy with its performance.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete alerts when it should, and those alerts are sent to the SIEM. I don't approach EDR or SentinelOne from the perspective of wanting to reduce alerts, because I want those alerts. I rely on peripheral systems like SentinelOne to always tell the SIEM anything it needs to know. So, I'm not approaching this from an alert minimization perspective. Instead, I approach it from this perspective: If we have a high, medium, or low alert, it's up to us to decide how we're feeding our highest rate and mediums, but we don't need to feed in the lowest alerts because we don't see the benefit of that. It's up to us to make that judgment. And obviously, our high and medium alerts will be smaller, and our lows will be higher. It's up to the customer to decide how much they want to send over to the team.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has helped free up our staff time around one day per week.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete helps reduce our MTTD.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has reduced our MTTR by 25 percent. It is a more reliable product, so we receive alerts and respond to them more quickly than we did with the previous product.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has reduced our organizational risks by five percent.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect of SentinelOne Singularity Complete is the protection it provides. We get endpoint protection without the IT team workloads and the negative impact on end-user rotation servers. This is because of the way SentinelOne has implemented the technology.

What needs improvement?

One of my criticisms of SentinelOne is the Ranger functionality. If Ranger were part of the core product, we would be able to identify endpoints or servers that need to be protected with our licenses. However, to get Ranger, we need to buy more licenses, which doubles our costs. I would like to have Ranger, but I challenge the way that SentinelOne licenses it. I believe that Ranger should be a core part of the product. If we run Ranger today and find that 100 devices on our network are not protected by SentinelOne, we would then need to add on those 100 licenses to cover them.

The licensing model is too complex, whether we agree with all parts of it or not. Everything is now offered as a service, so the console and the licensing model can be improved to make things easier, especially when updating new versions of the software.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SentinelOne Singularity Complete for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is highly scalable.

How are customer service and support?

We are happy with SentinelOne's technical support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used a legacy solution. The migration over to SentinelOne Singularity Complete was relatively trouble-free.

How was the initial setup?

Once all testing was complete, the deployment was straightforward. Eight part-time employees completed the deployment in three months.

What was our ROI?

The only return on investment we can point to with any EDR is that we have not been attacked.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is reasonably priced. Compared to other products I've used in the past, such as CrowdStrike, it is significantly less expensive. I can easily find evidence of this price difference, so I believe that SentinelOne is a fairly priced product.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate SentinelOne Singularity Complete eight out of ten.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a mature solution of the highest quality.

We have deployed SentinelOne Singularity Complete worldwide in airlines from Australia, throughout Europe, and across Africa in a complex environment.

We have 4,500 endpoints and around ten active users.

The maintenance level for SentinelOne Singularity Complete is relatively low.

SentinelOne is good as a security partner. They do exactly what we expect of them and it protects us.

I would always conduct a proof of concept for these types of products, as each environment is different. Even though SentinelOne Singularity Complete works well, a POC should always be done.

Uses low resources, reduces alerts, and reduces organizational risk
Pros and Cons
  • "The external drive scanning is great."
  • "I am not a fan of the UI and feel it has room for improvement."

What is our primary use case?

We have deployed SentinelOne Singularity Complete on all of our internal employee workstations. It is our endpoint solution for extended detection and response and all of the components within that scope.

We implemented SentinelOne Singularity Complete to help us address our cybersecurity challenges, mitigate threats to our machines and organization, and protect our data.

How has it helped my organization?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete integrates well with other third-party solutions, such as Palo Alto Networks, which we use for VPNs, and Zscaler, which we use for content filtering. The fact that it is not an invasive program is great. Therefore, staying in alignment with what SentinelOne is currently doing with the platform is something I would definitely recommend. Something to avoid when choosing an endpoint protection solution is resource consumption. People develop a bad reputation for a product when they detect it impeding their workflow. So, as long as SentinelOne can avoid this, they are on the right track.

It ingests and correlates data across all of our security solutions. It is a modern solution that I am extremely satisfied with.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete has helped us consolidate our security solutions. It is an extended detection and response solution that provides us with detection and response capabilities, as well as heuristic-based protection. It is a very modern endpoint protection solution. I think it is very competitive with other software such as Trend Micro.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a modern endpoint protection solution that addresses the cybersecurity needs of the organization realistically and from a compliance perspective. Since I joined the team a year ago, I have seen the benefits.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete reduces the number of alerts because it is an easy-to-manage solution without thousands of data sources. When we do receive alerts, Singularity Complete provides concise and actionable information.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a manageable solution that scales and does not require a dedicated person to handle it.

I am satisfied with SentinelOne Singularity Completes MTTD.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete helps reduce the MTTR because it provides actionable steps when something is detected. It also helped us reduce our organizational risk. It uses modern techniques to identify threat actors and helps us maintain compliance. As a large international company involved in governance, it is important to us that Singularity Complete reduces our organizational risk.

What is most valuable?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete does not consume many resources compared to the competition, like McAfee. The external drive scanning is great.

What needs improvement?

I am not a fan of the UI and feel it has room for improvement.

Heuristic analysis can always be improved. Many companies need to work on this. So, I think the sooner SentinelOne, for example, can get ahead of the curve on that, the sooner we can count on it as a realistic enterprise solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SentinelOne Singularity Complete for over one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is one of the most stable solutions we have in our stack.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The few times I have used the technical support it has been a good experience.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What other advice do I have?

I would rate SentinelOne Singularity Complete eight out of ten.

Although we can use a multifaceted approach with different products, this has both advantages and disadvantages. For example, if one product fails, the entire system does not. However, it would be an advantage if SentinelOne offered other tools, such as VPN and encryption. SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a cutting-edge, modern solution that offers a multifaceted approach to XDR. It is not outdated like many other programs. As long as SentinelOne continues to innovate and evolve in the cybersecurity landscape, it will remain a leading solution.

One of the things that really impressed me about SentinelOne Singularity Complete compared to other solutions was their commitment to taking cybersecurity practitioners seriously. This is anecdotal, as I met some of the most technical professionals working at their booth at Black Hat, while many other booths were staffed by sales representatives. As a practitioner, the fact that I can't ask many sales representatives very technical questions is not a good reflection on the company. SentinelOne was different. I was able to have very technical discussions with their staff, which shows that they take their approach very seriously.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is at the forefront of cybersecurity protection. I consider it a great solution option, and I strongly recommend comparing it to other offerings. I believe it will stand up well against the competition.

We are a Fortune 500 company, and SentinelOne Singularity Complete is deployed on tens of thousands of endpoints.

SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a set-and-forget solution when it comes to maintenance.

I have good impressions of SentinelOne as a strategic security partner.

Organizations should research any solution before implementing it. The price of one product may make sense for some organizations but not others. Apply the same due diligence to any solution that will affect the organization's overall security posture.
