Fortinet FortiADC Valuable Features
FortiADC provides load-balancing capabilities needed for integration with other Fortinet platforms. It allows for the creation of virtual IPs and applying various algorithms for traffic management.
Although it offers fewer algorithms than competing platforms like F5, its capability to manage load balancing makes it valuable. The security features depend on the environment, relying on firewalls like FortiGate.

I use server load balancing and employ layer seven features, which provide more granular traffic shaping and detailed logs.
Additionally, I use load balancing technology like Round Robin or low weight to maintain session-based connections. This ensures that clients can connect to their applications without interruption. In contrast, using standalone solutions can lead to network conditions that disrupt user connectivity and necessitate additional components before deploying FortiADC.
Primarily, I use this setup for trading platforms.
View full review »I like the load-balancing components because they are very straightforward. The interface is easy to get around and follows a very logical pattern and the API's are very easy to follow. The basic OWASP protections it offers in the web application firewall are also useful.
The tool does what it says on the box. Setting up priority groups and using health monitors is easy.
We can do patches offline to application servers without causing outages that would affect the customer. The web application firewall features, especially those related to the OWASP Top Ten, provide easily integrated and automated protections. This helps with legislative compliance for our Apps and for compliance with the PCI security standards.
This allows more flexibility in patching the back end applications and it offers visibility into the requests being made to the applications - you can't protect what you can't see.

The solution provides high-level services such as availability, redundancy, and load balancing between servers.
Routing protocols are better than those in FortiWeb.
For example, CNN has one website but a lot of web traffic so we need more than one server for high availability and load sharing. The solution allows for load sharing across multiple servers or even multiple data centers where they run as active/active or active/passive. If we lose the primary data center due to natural disaster or a high global load, we can manipulate DNS traffic to the secondary data center.

Initially, I was intimidated by FortiADC. That said, it has a good user manual, allowing management even with basic knowledge. It helps with defining server load balancing tasks and managing SSL certificates, ensuring the communication flow through the Fortinet gateway.
View full review »Fortinet FortiADC is a good product because each and every piece of content is monitored by it. I can perfectly take control of the service provided to the end user. The solution's policy also works on the group level and individual level.
Fortinet FortiADC is easy to operate and has single-handed control.
The GSLB, the DR side, is the best part. Because we had our main side in one city, we created another, and we had a complete MPLS over the internet. We used the GSLB and data loss for our business applications.
View full review »The product has flexible and interesting licensing options. If you buy a low-end licensing plan, you get all the features with a lower version. You can buy an expensive version if you need advanced features, including security, web application firewall, etc.
View full review »Fortinet FortiADC is the most affordable appliance you can purchase from any vendor. From a technical perspective, it is the most scalable device from Fortinet.
View full review »I am impressed with the product's load-balancing feature.
View full review »Although FortiADC has multiple features that I like, the global DNS is the most helpful. It is primarily useful for customers with huge environments and at least two data centers. FortiADC can act as your DNS server. It can check which data center has the lowest latency, and route traffic to that one. It's an intelligent DNS.
It can also balance application loads between servers and reroute content. If a public IP address hosts multiple applications, ADC can steer the traffic to the specific server of that application based on the URL that you are calling. If you have servers that respond for one specific application, you can use the ADC to load-balance the sessions between those servers. Which server has the least number of sessions? Which server is responding the fastest?
View full review »The ease of use is because of the functionality across these devices currently in the market. Most of the features are the same that they are offering with the certificate, be it the offloading options, load-balancing features, which is a provision, and a set of rules that you can implement. That has been kind of a common standard, of course, depending on the money and the grade of the device. Ease of use in deploying and having it up and running needs minimal knowledge is another reason.
View full review »It's a good product because it supports all the features that ADC solutions in the market can support, like F5 solutions, for example, such as the LTM of F5.

The most valuable features would be content caching and content compression. It also has an inbuilt firewall. I doubt whether any other ADC supports this firewall feature. It also has a web application firewall feature.
View full review »The most valuable feature is the SSL offloading. TSL and SSL offloading are both very good features.
This solution improves security for servers by offering data loss protection.

My experience with Fortinet has been very positive. It provides a great layer when it comes to SD-WAN and other security capabilities. It offers many models for a host of environments.
I like the solution's load balance with DNS intelligence.

The main feature that we use is GSLB (Global Server Load Balancing). GSLB makes the customer's network more reliable by scaling applications across multiple datacenters. GSLB as a disaster recovery solution can direct traffic based on site availability.
View full review »Of course the troubleshooting tools. I think the troubleshooting command is easy and useful. Because ADC is the intermediary between the servers and the end-user application, it gives thorough information about the traffic, what the problem is.
View full review »Fortinet FortiADC’s basic feature is present in all models, providing control over load balancing. Additionally, extra features found in FortiADC include bridging, which enables load balancing for CDB, UDP, and SDP.
The solution includes all the features, as well as support for global traffic management and local traffic management tools. It offers forward compatibility to integrate smoothly with Sandbox environments.
The user interface is very easy and integrates with Sandbox easily. It has its own antivirus.
I like all the products in the Fortinet family, they are simple to use and you can integrate a virtual server in a couple of minutes. If you have the topology, if you have the network, you can make a virtual server batch in a couple of minutes. It uses the same FortiOS regardless of the product.
