We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The machine installed without difficulty.""Efficiency of data management (Tier-X tiering, and NoDup inline dedupliclation and compression) provide for quick response time (+150k IOPS) during regular usage.""Reduxio allows you just spin a dial and go back to just about any time… in most cases (depending on the policies you’ve set) to go back within one second granularity for a couple weeks in the past.""By using the BackDating option we can restore volumes based on time. It also reduces volumes and maintenance time.""Reduxio requires zero upfront setup for backups. I get backups every single second for as long as I want with zero impact to performance.""Write latency is averaging way under a millisecond.""With only a few clicks, I can provision or modify storage.""Reduxio delivers a self-contained system with all of the features rolled in and functional."

More Reduxio [EOL] Pros →

"We are happy with Veritas Backup Exec's stability.""The initial setup is easy.""This solution works well and has good integration with technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.""The solution is stable.""The implementation is straightforward.""The solution is very scalable. Whenever we grew, it was just a matter of adding new licenses, so it's easy to grow.""The product's most valuable feature is scalability.""The disk-to-disk paid backup feature is quite good, and file locking is a very important feature."

Cons
"The only critique that we have is it needs the ability to have local users added. You have to log in as one built-in admin account. You can't create your own.""Would love to have role-based access and an active directory integration.""Scalability. Reduxio has only one product, they don’t have an option, for now, to expand the storage product.""Scalability is a little unusual. We came from the NetApp world where, if you needed more disk space, you just added more drives into the chassis, whereas with Reduxio, if you need more disk space, you have to buy a new chassis.""If Reduxio could manage multiple Reduxio systems within the same dashboard, or manage them as a single mode, it be very, very helpful for us.""There is only thing I can think of at the moment, that would be detailed printable reports.""The only thing that I would point out would be the basic administration management of the machine. Everything has rights, meaning that there's either all control or no delegated control. So to sum that up, it would be a feature request for delegated management in the administrative console.""I am waiting on a feature set in the new version which should allow me to replicate between Reduxio iSCSI SANs for disaster recovery and also to 3rd party iSCSI SANs which are cheaper for an archive or DR target."

More Reduxio [EOL] Cons →

"Compared to other vendors, there are features that you will find not included in Veritas.""The solution lacked local support, which became an issue for us and our customers. They needed to have more presence on the ground.""The deduplication feature can be improved.""The pricing is an area of improvement and the mode of marketing it.""The scalability could be improved even though the solution is targeted to small customers.""More stable environment in a WAN infrastructure.""Veritas Backup Exec should be more user-friendly. The costs should also be much lower and it should be easier to go through the disaster recovery process.""At the moment, we have a very complex environment. It would take some time to deploy an environment like ours from scratch."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Veritas Backup Exec users.

An IT Network Analyst at a manufacturing company says, “The backup potential of the solution is very good. It's protected us in the past very well and allowed us to get up and running after an attack with minimal loss. As far as if we need to restore a file, the solution absolutely has improved the way our organization functions. It saves us a lot of time. We're backing up all of our servers with it.”

PeerSpot user Masoud G., Senior Network Administrator at MapnaBE, mentions, “I prefer to use a tape library and Veritas Backup Exec is fully compatible with different tape libraries. So I prefer this software. It also has easy user and file recovery.”

Kayode O., Chief Technology Officer at a tech company, explains, “This solution creates a differential backup to reduce storage requirements. This solution is not complex and you do not have to be too technical to use it. Veritas offers granular restore, which is an option that many other solutions do not have. It allows you to restore, for example, a single SharePoint document, rather than an entire site.”

Rowland G., Product Brand Manager at Epsidon Technology Distribution, states, “The one thing for the last 12 months which has been very good for Veritas was the instance-based license. This means that you're able to license per instance, not only per physical server. And also, the incremental backup which they introduced for virtual servers, where it makes it much quicker to restore, it just automatically is able to mount it back to the original backup. This makes it much quicker when you're doing the restore.”
