Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I have found the most valuable features are business intelligence and reporting.""User-friendly look and feel.""The most valuable feature is the user-friendly set of tools that the customer can use to develop their own business dashboards.""It doesn't have many frills and is definitely older technology, but it is undeniably a workhorse.""The dashboard and analysis are the most valuable features of this solution.""It's the connectors, the adapters. Built in connectors with different ERPs, you can plug in XL, other sources of data. It's very easy to configure. It's very easy to use.""The setup isn't too difficult.""Can utilize SQL queries to generate reports directly."

"The most valuable feature of QlikView is the integration with other third-party tools.""It's pretty easy to deploy.""The integration with Salesforce has helped us gain access to crucial sales data in real-time.""I had the option to prepare data myself instead of always having to depend on the data team.""Data transforming with scripting, and the associative model that lets users browse data in an easy way, are the most valuable features.""This is a very cool application with endless options of creativity and visuals.""The in-memory feature gives us better insight. It's also easy to drill down into the information and select information.""It is useful to use a tool like this to have a view of data at a point in time. You can extract and create little data sets that you can store, and then over time, you can have a view for tracking changes. Especially when you work with a relational database or a database that's a production database, the data is dynamic, but if you use QlikView, you can take a snapshot of different datasets. In your own time, you can then get insights and report, build, analyze, and draw whatever you need from the data, which is quite useful."

"Great capability, performance, flexibility, visuals, and the solution is also very cost effective.""I am looking forward to testing their full graphics that are available, as they looked very interesting in the demo."

Cons
"The documentation in Oracle OBIEE can be more user-friendly.""The performance and the complex setup are the main reason for switching to Qlik Sense.""Warehouse and business intelligence are two different things, but OBIEE also has some warehouse features in it. I would like to see some of those capabilities improved.""OBIEE doesn't have audit logs.""Supply chain and finance.""Essbase integration needs to be worked on.""In the on-premises version, the feature for connecting and selecting the data between the databases looks a bit cumbersome, but I am not sure. The person who is using it takes a lot of time to design a data warehouse. When I ask him why is it taking this long, I get a response that this is something that he has to design, and there are different tools that are available. He has to write the ETL and design the warehouse according to the customer's requirement, which takes a lot of time. Its visualization should be enhanced, and there should be a feature where you can easily create your custom data warehouse.""BI Server"

More Oracle OBIEE Cons →

"I would want them to have more options as a user. It would be nice for them to create their own dashboards and add fields.""There is a challenge on the frontend when it comes to browsing data through QlikView, as it isn't entirely compatible with other platforms we use.""Improvements are required in the hide and unhide functionality that falls under the layout container feature that has been used in my company in recent times.""Syntax editor needs some work, it's frustrating to have valid syntax being flagged as incorrect.""It is really old. We are moving towards converting everything into a Power BI environment. We want to have a self-service type of BI environment where different levels of users in organizations can log onto a portal and retrieve the data they need or get the necessary insights for decision-making that's important for them or their business unit. They have built a new version of QlikView called QlikSense, which probably competes with newer BI tools, such as Power BI, but they are far behind. That's why we are moving towards a newer tool that's easier to use and has more visualizations to represent the data.""There could be a feature to analyze the sales and accounting data of the client.""If a user wanted to see something not included in the application the new object had to be created by a power user or developer because Qlik view's scripting has somewhat of a learning curve.""There is a lack of static PDF report generation and automatic resizing of the dashboard to fit the device."

More QlikView Cons →

"There should be a better or an easier way to establish that connection to external sources.""Would like the ability to be able to benchmark."

    Reviews from Real Users

Sandeep V., Process System Engineer at a comms service provider, tells us, “This solution is very easy for people who are building ad-hoc things. It's an enterprise solution so it can be deployed for a lot of users. There are some great new features that come with the 12c like data visualization, desktop BI Publisher, automation, and interactive dashboards. The product has good features. “

A user who is a CEO at a consultancy relates, “The most valuable feature is the visualization. The data warehousing, data storage, and data wrangling are all features that are in there, and it's one of the better products out there. A good thing is that for large datasets, it's very stable, especially when you have an Oracle database.”

A user who is a Principal Business Intelligence Architect at a computer software company suggests, "It is very biased towards Oracle infrastructure. One of the major red flags we have at the moment against Oracle is that it doesn't support deployment on other cloud providers. We're quite heavily vested in AWS as our infrastructure, and Oracle is yet to formally support deploying on those virtual infrastructure instances. That's quite disappointing, and it also cuts them out of over 70% of the market."
