We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"You can create intelligent alerts so you have enough time to replace the router or interface before it's full. The same is applicable for CBQoS channels.""One of the most valuable features is the ease of use.""There is a good amount of vendor certification which comes with the product. That's all factory-loaded, no need to load any custom-made files. Most of the metrics are calibrated and captured from the devices based on the defaults available from vendor certification.""It is very easy to add devices; just be aware that it requires SNMP to be enabled.""The integration to the other products that we use: NFA, we use ADA, we use Spectrum; and CAPM integrates all those into a single pane of glass.""The ability to very quickly and graphically navigate around, being able to zoom in to a timeframe, apply it to all the other panels... are all very intuitive.""Scalability is the reason we bought the product to begin with. It was designed from the ground up for carrier-grade services, and we are in effect a MSP ourselves. So we were really interested in looking at something to be able to handle the multi-tenancy and scale as large as possible. This was the only solution that we really considered at that level.""We're able to present data from multiple back-end collection sources into a single dashboard for the users. So they don't have to go to multiple locations to get data about a particular item, or device."

"The security features, for example, URL filtering, AMP, and advanced threat protection, are very valuable.""I have found the SD-WAN, flexibility, and security the most valuable features.""The ability to manage everything from the cloud is going to be the most valuable by far with this solution.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the stability, it's actually tailored for that.""I have found centralized administration, cloud UI, and visibility and security on all networks valuable features.""It's quite easy to use, and it's easy to find the necessary information from the web.""The most valuable feature is the inspection. It inspects before we have any traffic stops intrusion.""The sandboxing feature is very important."

Cons
"It could be a little easier to integrate new metrics.""When it goes through discovery, or whatever it is doing in the back-end that slows it down, sometimes we get some failures with it. ""I'm not a fan of many extra features since they usually burden the software and reduce its reliability.""I would like to have more tasks, graphs, and possibilities for linking to the graphs and reports added to the solution.""CA PM Business Hours Filtering: I understand that all monitoring systems have defects. The Business Hours Filtering does not always function properly. Sometimes, when applying business hours to CA PM reports that are 30 or more days in duration, the report generation times out and does not display results. We have other CA PM reports that, when we apply Business Hours Filtering, the report results displayed are the same as without the filter. We are not sure if this is a defect in CA PM or if it is a result of our complex configuration (folder structure) and application of business hours.""This solution's implementation process could be quicker. They could also optimize the hardware requirements.""For CA PM, there should be a way of easily migrating the reports coming from eHealth going to CA Performance Center, since CA PC is replacing eHealth.""The quantity of views which are tied to specific metric families is too high. Also, the problem is the view doesn't tell you which metric family it uses, so you don't know why you don't see data."

More DX Performance Management Cons →

"The command-line interface could definitely be improved in future iterations. It's lacking right now.""The interface and dashboards should improve in Fortinet FortiGate Cloud. Other solutions have better graphical interfaces.""Fortinet could improve FortiGate Cloud by providing better integration with third-party applications and features.""We need some integration or communication between the endpoint and the firewall.""Reporting is an area that can be enhanced.""They're still trying to digest that Meru acquisition and need a plan.""The licensing is a little bit confusing and needs to be improved.""I would like to see Wi-Fi management inside the firewall."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We were looking at other vendors in the marketplace for NetFlow, and CA just beat everybody else in price, cost, and the size to implement. "
  • "Do your homework and know how many devices you will be managing out of the gate. Be sure to project what your growth will be each year."
  • "They should provide more scalable licensing for the product."
  • "I like the licensing model because it's device-based."
  • "We purchase a license to use the solution every three years and we have multiple contracts. They have been increasing the price annually. We have a baseline for three years and then we need to pay the difference from the baseline, and we are in the process of negotiating a new price for all the licenses we need. The price overall is affordable."
  • "The tool's pricing is based on the number of network devices."

  • "The price is over $1,000 USD annually."
  • "The pricing is mid-ranged, it's not very expensive but it's not the cheapest or most affordable in the market."
  • "The license does not include many of the features that are necessary, which means that you have to pay extra for them."
  • "It is expensive."
  • "The price of the solution is high compare to competitors."
  • "As with us, our customers need not pay for a license. One brings one's own."
  • "When comparing this solution to others it is less expensive and there is an annual license required."
  • "The pricing is competitive."
