We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Better than TeamViewer and useful for fixing problems remotely.""ConnectWise Connect is very convenient as we can remote to a PC even when it is not within our LAN.""I do love the monitoring page. If you are using ConnectWise Control, which is the on-prem version, when you are logged into the admin panel, there is a status page that checks network connectivity, the status of the license, and so on.""Unattended access is the most important feature.""Due to the fact that we can help our clients virtually, the solution has allowed us to reduce our travel costs by about 90%.""Valuable features include the responsiveness, ability to tune up and tune down the connection, and video.""The unattended access functionality is a valuable feature, because I can go in at any time that I want, deploy fixes, or do maintenance.""You can bring up a command prompt remotely and execute commands without having to disturb the user."

"The most helpful feature of OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is that it allows you to consume heavy applications that usually have a lot of latency. I also like that the solution is fast and has a friendly UI.""The solution is perfect for Linux users."

Cons
"Support for PAC files on the guest's side and support for proxy on the host's side. Currently, there is no support for guest-side PAC files or for the host-side proxy (which uses authentication).""Reporting could definitely use improvement. With LogMeIn Rescue, I used to be able to, for instance, at the end of the month, pull off a report of every session. It was very simple... I could see the name that was typed in, the IP address to the computer that it was connected to, if it was running Windows... It just doesn't seem - there might be but I haven't found it - to be a way of pulling that information out of ConnectWise.""The solution is a little bit complicated when you want to implement it.""There can be some complexities when running patches or when building up all the profiles, making them areas where improvements are required.""They could provide a toolbox for the plan I'm on.""There needs to be a way to run the agent without installing, like GoToAssist.""The recent redesign has made it slower and basically worthless.""We have had issues. We have had circumstances, for reasons we don't know, where the service will stop running, and when the service stops running that computer no longer becomes reachable. We haven't really seen that so much on desktops, but we have seen that happen quite frequently on server operating systems, Server 2008, Server 2012. You can install the product and then a week down the road it will just stop."

"The performance of the graphical interface needs improvement. They should add some CPU to speed graphic acceleration.""An area for improvement in OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is the installation process because you need some technical knowledge to install it. What's lacking in OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is a help portal for users to ask questions and seek assistance."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Good price and works well."
  • "Their licensing model is good, their pricing model is good, their service is good; bandwidth is excellent. They're consistent."
  • "I think the product's pricing is a good value. I paid $600 a year and that was fine for me. It was about $50 a month. Licensing is all very straightforward."
  • "It is priced well and it is still a great value. Although I have been reading a lot about Splashtop. They are getting pretty competitive on their pricing, including a fairly easy to use remote support for mobile applications, like iOS and Android."
  • "Pricing is fair for Control and the licensing is simple."
  • "The cloud version is relatively inexpensive, but the on-premise version is expensive if you do not need three technicians, only one or two for concurrent sessions."
  • "It is priced fairly."
  • "Make sure you have enough licensing for all the techs that you have."

  • "Pricing for OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is five out of ten. It's not that expensive, and it's not that affordable."
