We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Its big data and archive data features are the features that I have found most valuable. I can use it in a big virtual environment.""It's very regimented and fast. It does local backup, cloud backup, long-term coverage, and disaster recovery."

More Cohesity Imanis Data Pros →

"The backup and replication capabilities are quite good.""With Replication, Veeam allows us to have a duplicated VM on standby.""No problems with stability.""The user interface is good and it is very easy to use.""The most valuable feature is how reliable Veeam Backup is. It has the normal expected features that allow you to ensure that everything is backed up completely.""They introduced a new feature called the Immutable Repository feature, which helps protect environments from malware attacks that target backup file extensions.""There are many valuable features, for example how Copy Job is controlling the band with accelerators. The Enterprise Manager is a valuable feature. There are many very useful features. We can push in the market, because we have an advantage over the other solutions.""From my experience, Veeam is very good. Its interface is user-friendly. We can restore it whenever. It's not complicated. It's very easy to manage and administration is very easy."

Cons
"The initial setup can be complex, depending on the environment.""The limitation that I see in Cohesity is that the minimum sized node is 36 terabytes, which is more than a small customer needs."

More Cohesity Imanis Data Cons →

"If they could add more support for all of the modern hypervisors, that would make Veeam much better and more flexible to work with. For example, there is no solution for VM to VM replication when it comes to Oracle OEM servers.""It would be ideal if users could know that their data is backed up and have some security functionality where you can actually use the backup to spin up a new cluster and take it from there.""It needs to support more applications. In terms of supported applications, Oracle SQL and Office 365 are supported, but I am not sure if it supports Linux-based applications. That's why I'm looking for an alternative. I am currently testing Commvault. The advantage of Commvault is that a lot of applications are supported with it. I am not sure if CIFS is currently supported. It would be nice to have this feature in case it is not already supported""It's hard to answer because managing cloud storage in our version could be better, but now that they have improved it in the recent version, I cannot say it's a better point because I know it should be already fixed.""Its native capability for talking to the public cloud needs improvement. Connecting to a public cloud is a little bit more of a challenge when it comes to Veeam than it is with Rubrik or Commvault. There are still some hoops that you got to jump through in order to send Veeam backups out to public cloud repositories. It is not as simple as it is with other products.""The initial setup could be simplified.""They need a better solution for backend storage.""My main concern about Veeam is that I hope our backups will still be secure in the event of a security incident such as a ransomware attack. In Veeam version 11 they do state that there is ransomware protection, but until it has been proven to be effective, I don't have any assurance that it will prevent data loss."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It's priced properly for the market."
  • More Cohesity Imanis Data Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "If you have Exchange, Oracle, SQL, or a supported SAN, then I suggest getting at least an Enterprise edition. It’ll pay for itself in no time."
  • "The pricing and licensing is better than the competitors, but it could be better."
  • "Room for improvement is actually more in the way of licensing. The really good and useful features are in the Enterprise plus edition, and that one is really expensive."
  • "Since pricing is per socket, it is not expensive to add capacity as you go along."
  • "The licensing is based on the number of cores you have in your ESX or Hyper-V environment."
  • "The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy."
  • "I think the price is good when you choose the Essentials Suite, but when you buy a full featured version (for instance the Enterprise Plus) the price is a little bit expensive."
  • "Setup cost and licensing of Veeam are nothing to complain about when compared to similar products for enterprise backup recovery solutions."

    Reviews from Real Users

Veeam Backup & Replication is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Some of its major advantages are its ease of set up, the fact that it is agentless, and that it has an intuitive dashboard.

A Network Operations Manager at an educational organization says, "Integration with VMware is excellent with very granular recovery."

An Inside Solutions Architect at a tech services company mentions, “I like that it's agent-less, easy to set up, and hardware-agnostic.”

An Account Manager at a tech services company states, “The dashboard is very, very easy to understand. We do demonstrations all the time with customers just to show them. If they've lost particular files because of a server going down, we can retrieve those files for them and quickly bring those files back up.”

Kerem C., Director of Professional Services/Senior Solution Architect/Trainer at a tech services company, explains, “It's good for backup performance management and backup window management.”
