We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Technical support is good.""I find the comprehensive Privilege Access Management features valuable, including automation, and the ability to integrate with applications and the Windows operating system.""The asset discovery feature is the solution's most valuable aspect. It's very easy to pull assets into the database of the solution manager.""I find the solution’s features like section management, password management, and analytics valuable.""I would say session management on the go is the most valuable feature. When the session is going on, you can stop the session without terminating it for justification. You can cancel it. The recording takes very little space. Those are some things which the customers are worried about when they talk about session recording.""What I liked about this solution is that it can also integrate for tracking malicious use or sending analytics to a host that can process them. I don't know if CyberArk, Centrify, or Thycotic can do that. The analytics was something the client really wanted, and they already had BeyondTrust. It is very scalable. The agent on the workstation is very thin, and the processing power required on a server is nothing out of the ordinary. It is also very stable and easy to deploy.""It is straightforward. It is a good technology, and it is made to do one single thing.""The tool is easy to use and deploy. It has PAM capabilities like privilege access. The solution helps with the management of third parties and vendors. It is an effective solution compared to other alternatives."

"The tool's support is the best.""I love the push-button authentication on FortiToken Mobile. It's also great that the soft token automatically reloads the OTP at intervals, so I always have a fresh code to enter.""The token-based authentication is good and modern aspect.""We like the mobile FortiToken.""The initial setup is easy. You receive a QR code via email, scan it, and add it. No complicated procedures involved.""The solution is pretty solid.""The product provides secure access to our internal server.""The deployment is quick and simple."

Cons
"The deployment process should be clarified or made simpler. It would be helpful if the solution had in-app tutorials for users to look at as they progress through the system. Sometimes we get lost and need to go back to check what exactly the function was. There should be small hints around major key functions. It would go a long way in speeding up the deployment process.""Reporting analytics is one of the areas that can be improved. It is a new cloud-based solution. So, many more specific reports can come out natively. Currently, we get all the events, and we put them in plug-ins. From there, we generate our own design of reports. If there is a much more solid or robust reporting analytics framework within the product itself, it would be helpful.""We use a program to automate all of this, but it's not a default feature of BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management.""There is room for improvement in having the solution align more with standards. We're always shoehorning the product into the standards. It's not that it doesn't work for standards, it does. But Quick Start Policies are pretty close to what we need. The vendor needs to keep looking at GDPR, 27001, and 27701. That's why our clients buy the product.""There are three types of endpoints. If we need to use them in the solution, then we need to purchase the licenses separately. The tool needs to improve its licensing.""It only has limited support for Mac.""Their technical support could be more responsive and helpful.""How the accounts are presented in the solution's UI can be improved."

More BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management Cons →

"The tool could be a little cheaper.""Its reporting should be better. The reporting feature is missing. I don't have any reporting of who has done what, what has failed, and what didn't work.""You need your mobile just to enroll the tokens, and sometimes, it's difficult to use for someone who is not knowledgeable""I would like to see complete OAuth support. Also, if they can support it from a SaaS (Software as a Service) or cloud platform, that would be great.""Configuration can be confusing due to the lack of community and context-sensitive help. We've had to rely on technical support, which slows down the setup process.""Fortinet support has some room for improvement. It has taken a long time to resolve some issues or find a workaround.""Support is a pain point in Bangladesh because there aren't many experienced Fortinet engineers in this country. It's easier to find one certified in Cisco, Palo Alto, or Juniper.""Maybe the price could be improved, and the integration could be better. But the integration is different from the authenticator side."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I'm sure everyone should have the cluster environment, which means more expensive, anyway, cheaper than the other solutions."
  • "PowerBroker for a Mac client is three times the price of the Windows version."
  • "What BeyondTrust was providing was user-based licensing which was a great benefit from the client point of view. Recently, I don't know why, the licensing model has been changed, and that is the reason that they have lost a bit of their edge when it comes to the PAM, against our competition. The asset-based licensing, from the user's point of view, is not beneficial. The licensing should be based on the users. The greater the number of users, the greater will be the load and the greater the scalability problems. I presume that is why the licensing model has changed."
  • "This solution is expensive compared to its competitors."
  • "Price-wise, it is very competitive. In our area, government entities and banks don't go for the monthly payment. It is a headache even for us in terms of finance and procurement to go for monthly payments. Quarterly might be more logical and reasonable, but the minimum that we go for is one year, and sometimes, we even try to compile and give one offering for three years."
  • "Its pricing and licensing are okay. We were in the perpetual model when it was on-prem, and now, with the SaaS service, we have a subscription model. As a customer, I would always like to see a lower price, but it seems to be priced at the right model currently, and we are trying to get the maximum benefits out of it."
  • "The product’s licensing is different for Windows, Linux, and Mac. The tool’s licensing is yearly."
  • "It was very expensive."

  • "It is included as part of our firewall license."
  • "Overall, it's cheaper than other solutions. Of course, we evaluated it five years back, and I haven't checked to see its current market position, but one reason we adopted FortiToken is its lower cost of ownership relative to other solutions we evaluated."
  • "I would rate the pricing as an eight out of ten. We purchased the solution at a reasonable price in 2019."
  • "On a scale of one to ten, where one is the cheapest, and ten is the highest, I rate the pricing an eight."
  • "The solution’s price is good."
  • "Fortinet FortiToken is not an expensive solution."
  • "The pricing is not very high, so I'd rate it around six out of ten, where one is high and ten is low."
  • "From an Indian perspective, it's definitely costlier."

As we've seen, passwords alone don't keep unwanted guests out of your network. Password-only authentication has led to security breaches, malware infections, and policy violations. With two-factor authentication, a password is used along with a security token and authentication server to provide far better security.  Authorized employees can remotely access company resources safely using a variety of devices, ranging from lpatops to mobile phones.
