We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The platform is reliable in identifying the core system issues.""We can view the server activities, including issues in the process, with a single click.""This solution gives us quite good insights that we might otherwise overlook, or it might take a really long time to debug those issues.""I like Business iQ the most, so far. It has great analytics configurations and I can get real-time updates. We have eCommerce releases every week. So the one use case that I use Business iQ is to compare before and after release performance using AppDynamics.""The solution offers great visibility that allows you to track where errors originated.""The product has the ability to drill down to the errors whenever we have issues.""The auto-discovery of the logs is the most valuable feature. It requires minimal configuration, we just need to set up on once and it automatically detects through the code.""It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I don't see any problems in the solution...The solution's technical support was good."

"The alerts are the most valuable feature.""It is a great resource for us because we have so many different data sources and to be able to aggregate that and put it through a concise dashboard or an alert really helps.""The solution's basic visibility is one of its most valuable features. So, it is a solution that is easy to use...The solution's initial setup process was straightforward.""The tool is efficient in collecting, monitoring and evaluating logs.""The Add data feature lets you gather any type of log and easily analyze it.""Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring gives us complete visibility without the need for storage.""It can monitor, get the data, and then report on the data.""The product retains a lot of log data for subsequent analysis."

Cons
"The tool should provide information like the number of connections and processes utilized in real time.""Things are being done differently in the industry now, and many of these problems are being solved with cloud databases.""I could not find a user-friendly interface for querying, and analytics sometimes gives the wrong results...I feel that analytics could have been better in searching and running the analytical queries.""The solution has performance issues after we deploy the agent.""The product’s dashboard could be more easy to implement.""In the next release, I would like to see the configuration of the data and more support for new applications. It should support new languages.""I would like the ability to choose from some pre-defined dashboards and reports because as it is now, you have to define them separately for each implementation.""If we consider the implementation of alternative solutions, such as Dynatrace, there is a notable difference in the approach to agent-based service monitoring. For instance, Dynatrace employs a single-agent solution, which can pose security concerns. When installing Dynatrace, granting the agent ld pro payload rights is a requirement. In contrast, our solution ensures a more secure approach by not requiring root and administration access. While we currently utilize an agent-based solution, there may be a shift in the next one or two years, possibly with the adoption of Open Telemetry. It's anticipated that many APM vendors, including Dynatrace, may alter their structure or strategy for implementation. However, as of now, the trend is towards an increasing number of implementations daily."

"We still use Splunk Enterprise licensing. A lot of the newer features go into Splunk Cloud before Enterprise. We're not looking to switch our licensing over, so we're falling behind on the newer features.""The cost needs to be re-examined. It's extremely expensive to run. It's also expensive to expand. That's the number one complaint all of my customers have when it comes to Splunk. It's way too expensive compared to other solutions.""The solution should have more sensors regarding fiber intelligence for security measures.""The price has room for improvement.""A lot of customers had a hard time effectively searching within the data in Splunk. There is a learning curve from searches to indexes and using all the macros that we have created. It is a little difficult for somebody who has not used it quite a bit and does not have a lot of practice with it, but the AI features that we have been hearing about through Splunk will make it a lot easier for us to use human language to search this data. That is big. That is pretty powerful, and that will help a lot with our customers.""There is a lot of room for improvement with the automation.""Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring's data analytics can be improved by including suggestions for various types of continuous monitoring.""It would be useful if they provided some help pages. If you don't know too much about the tool, there should be more documentation readily available. It would be useful if they had a help button embedded in the solution so you could ask questions and get answers."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "My understanding is that the price of this solution is quite high, compared to other products."
  • "The pricing for AppDynamics Server Monitoring in Africa and the Middle East is too expensive, so it's very hard to sell it to customers. If there could be different pricing or package for the region, that would be great. My company pays for the license of AppDynamics Server Monitoring on a per-agent, per-server basis. It's $700 to $1000 per server, and it's paid annually. My company is on a subscription model for the solution. On a scale of one to five, where one is expensive and five is cheap, my rating for the price of AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a two."
  • "The solution has a high cost."
  • "AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a very expensive product, but if you negotiate well, you get value for money...My company used to make early payments toward the licensing costs of the solution, but now my company has opted for a different licensing model."
  • "The tool is expensive."

  • "The solution's pricing is competitive. I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten. The price of the solution could be cheaper."
  • "Splunk has been fairly expensive, but it has been predictable."
  • "I would rate the price of Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring as an eight out of ten, with ten being the most expensive."
  • "I am not in that circle, but we are currently licensing based on our queries. That is working out for us. Previously, it was by volume of data, and now, we can store as much data as we want."
  • "It is expensive."
