Good security that allows us to safely work from home, but it needs single sign-on support
Pros and Cons
  • "Especially during the COVID pandemic, this solution has allowed us to work from home without security concerns."
  • "I think that the addition of single sign-on functionality would be helpful."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case is secure remote connectivity of our on-premises applications.

How has it helped my organization?

Especially during the COVID pandemic, this solution has allowed us to work from home without security concerns.

What is most valuable?

I can't choose any specific feature that stands out against the competition. We largely implemented this product out of loyalty. We have been a Cisco shop for many years, which is what made us start using AnyConnect.

The security is good.

What needs improvement?

I think that the addition of single sign-on functionality would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for quite a long time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The platform itself is very stable. The problem that we've had lately is more around connectivity.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I do not have experience with scaling this product.

We have about 6,000 users and at this time, everyone is working from home. There are no plans to increase our usage at this point.

How are customer service and support?

The support can be fairly good. I would rate them a four out of five.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing costs are reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

As with most Cisco products, standing by itself, this solution is not perfect. However, if you take a suite of Cisco products then it will solve 99% of your challenges.

I would rate this solution a six out of ten.

Reliable, expandable, and has an easy implementation process
Pros and Cons
  • "Support does solve our issues."
  • "The cost could always be a bit less."

What is our primary use case?

It is primarily used for the occasional managers having to work out of office.

What is most valuable?

It's been fairly stable for us. I'm okay with it.

The language is fine. We don't have any issues as we're English and therefore don't come across barriers.

Support does solve our issues.

It can scale.

The initial setup is easy.

What needs improvement?

I haven't given improvements much thought.

Technical support could be better, especially when it comes to understanding the problems.

The cost could always be a bit less.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for around five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We don't have that many external users, so we are just using a few licenses of that, and we are okay.

The solution is scalable. However, we don't necessarily need to scale.

Less than ten people are using the product.

How are customer service and support?

I have made an occasional call to technical support. You don't always get a solution on a first call. That said, there's enough guidance to point in the right direction.

It takes time for them to understand what your problem is. So you have to spend much more time explaining the problem.

How was the initial setup?

It is easy to set up. It's not a problem at all. There are no issues with complexity.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We do pay for the solution. It's a bundled option.

I can't speak to the exact price of the product. I don't handle the licensing. My understanding, however, is that it is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I'm just a user. We don't buy directly. We use someone else.

So far, it meets our demands.

We are not at the latest version. We are either one branch or two branches behind. We are yet to update.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

I'd recommend the solution to other companies if they can afford Cisco.

Easy to set up with simple login capabilities and the potential to expand
Pros and Cons
  • "It is an easy system to set up."
  • "At times, the login process takes a lot of time."

What is our primary use case?

We connect and we log in to some server programs or some restricted areas, which can only be accessed to the VPN only. We cannot gain access to these systems over public networks for security purposes.

What is most valuable?

The login process is pretty simple. You just need to put your credentials and it logs in.

The solution is stable.

It is an easy system to set up.

What needs improvement?

At times, the login process takes a lot of time. If your network is a bit weak, on the weak side, it gives you a lot of trouble. That is one negative that I've experienced about it.

It is highly dependent upon the network connectivity, even a minor network disruption. While other applications do work a bit slow, they do work. However, I have faced significant issues with Cisco whenever there are some little network issues.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution in the past year.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have about 5,000 users on the solution. It is very scalable.

How are customer service and support?

While I haven't dealt with support for this solution, we have used Cisco support for Cisco WebEx issues. We found them to be very helpful in that instance.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward and simple to set up. It's not overly complex.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We do pay for licensing. I'm not sure what the subscription costs are. I don't deal with licensing aspects.

What other advice do I have?

I am an end-user of the product. I'm not a partner or reseller.

The version we are using would be the latest version only. As per my organization's policies it's always updated.

If you're looking for an easily configurable and accessible kind of solution, then I suggest that Cisco is the product to go to, hands down. The ease of use is the most valuable aspect of the product.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Lightweight and stable with good connectivity
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution works very well. You just click and it's working."
  • "The configuration from the client-side would be useful. Right now, it's not centralized. There should be a lock so that it can only be configured from one place."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for secure access the company's network.

What is most valuable?

The solution is very lightweight.

The product is stable.

There are almost no problems with connectivity when using a third-party system.

The solution works very well. You just click and it's working.

What needs improvement?

The configuration from the client-side would be useful. Right now, it's not centralized. There should be a lock so that it can only be configured from one place.

The solution could use some sort of graphic interface or some kind of monitor to showcase the current network to help visualize the information.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for quite a long time - about ten to 15 years or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable. We didn't have any issues with bugs or glitches that would make us concerned about its stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. It's suitable for a very large organization. You can use many connection points across your network. It's easy to geographically split everything.

The solution is constantly being used in our organization. It's always running.

How are customer service and technical support?

We've never had to contact technical support in the past. For us, it's been working fine.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used a mobile prospect from previous generation Cisco VPN clients. AnyConnect ended up replacing the Cisco VPN Clients, so we didn't switch per se. We've always had Cisco products.

How was the initial setup?

From the handling side, the initial setup is quite easy and straightforward. From a customer endpoint, deployment only takes about two to three minutes. To deploy the solution centrally, usually, a company can expect to spend four to five hours on it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing is based on one, three, and five-year terms. It's a one-time fee with no hidden costs. For example, you won't find that you'll have to pay more for support later.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We didn't previously evaluate any other products. We've always used Cisco.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is perfect for both large and small companies.

I'd advise other organizations to choose a subscription for the maximum period. The longer period is cheaper in price. Users should also keep it running all the time for the best results.

I'd rate the solution ten out of ten.

Stable and secure with a straightforward setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is quite stable."
  • "We were going to use the Cisco AnyConnect with hardware tokens. However, right now, it's very complicated in terms of delivering the hardware token to the customer. That's why we are looking for a software token right now."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for remote access to the on-premise server. If we are off-site, we are still able to connect when we need to.

What is most valuable?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward and not overly complex.

The solution is quite stable.

So far, the scalability has been good.

The solution is very secure in general.

What needs improvement?

We were going to use the Cisco AnyConnect with hardware tokens. However, right now, it's very complicated in terms of delivering the hardware token to the customer. That's why we are looking for a software token right now. I'm not sure how it's going to work. It's under review right now.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using the solution for about two or three years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable and reliable. I haven't experienced any bugs or glitches. It does not crash or freeze. The performance is quite good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

So far, the scalability has been good. We have not faced any issues. If a company needs to expand, it should be able to.

Currently, we have 50 or 60 people using the product.

How are customer service and technical support?

Tech support has been good overall. I have no complaints about their service. We've been happy with the help they've provided to us. They're great. That said, we've had very few problems with e product in general.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also have a USB token for the hardware.

By the time I joined the company, they were already using this product. I can't speak to what they used before.

How was the initial setup?

It's my understanding that the initial setup was pretty straightforward. It wasn't overly difficult.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'm just one of the users. I can't speak to the price as I was not part of the decision-making process and I don't directly deal with licensing or payments.

However, it's my understanding that the licensing is quite expensive.

What other advice do I have?

We use the solution ourselves and are end-users. However, we also resell the product to our clients.

We upgraded a few months ago. It's my understanding that we are on the latest version of the product.

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. For the most part, we've been very happy with the solution and its capabilities.

  • "Sometimes when you disconnect or switch from one wireless network to another, it's necessary to re-login."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use AnyConnect SMC to connect to clients' networks.

What is most valuable?

AnyConnect SMC's best features are that it's secure and connects seamlessly to clients' networks.

What needs improvement?

An area for improvement is that sometimes when you disconnect or switch from one wireless network to another, it's necessary to re-login.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for over fifteen months.

Enables me to connect to open cases, the internet, and my internal repository
Pros and Cons
  • "The VPN is the most valuable feature. In general, I like the solution and it helps me connect to my corporate site."
  • "We don't have the correct visibility to see the quantity of licenses we are consuming or not consuming."

What is our primary use case?

I use this solution to connect to open cases, the internet, and internal repository.

I'm using version 4.10. The solution being deployed on cloud.

What is most valuable?

The VPN is the most valuable feature. In general, I like the solution and it helps me connect to my corporate site.

What needs improvement?

I would like there to be more license consuming data. We don't have the correct visibility to see the quantity of licenses we are consuming or not consuming. Some of my clients complain about that. For example, they buy 1,000 licenses and cannot see if they are using 1,000 licenses or not.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Cisco AnyConnect for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is completely stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's scalable. We have a lot of staff, and the company is growing. I haven't heard any complaints about it.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate technical support 10 out of 10.

How was the initial setup?

Installation is very easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is okay.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution 10 out of 10.

Simple to install and is reasonably priced
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is straightforward."
  • "They can redesign the reset password, reset function, and user interface."

What is our primary use case?

We use the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for all the enterprise VPNs.

Our system is primarily based on a VPN. And then we connect to VPN, and we have three-factor authentication to log into the applications that we work on for development.

What is most valuable?

One thing I've noticed is the price in comparison to other VPNs.

What needs improvement?

They can redesign the reset password, reset function, and user interface.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been working with Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for three years.

How are customer service and support?

I did not have any contact with the technical support as I am from the development team, our internal team handles that.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Our internal team uses Slack for communication.

This GlobalProtect is used on Palo Alto Networks. It assists us in connecting to a gateway. We have access to our applications and not through Okta. We access Okta and use it.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. In my opinion, it was not complex.

What other advice do I have?

One issue I've encountered is that if you try to connect using a mobile hotspot during a pandemic, you will encounter connectivity issues.

I would rate Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client an eight out of ten.
