Azure Cost Management Room for Improvement

We would like to see more flexibility added to this solution, such as being able to compare reservations, or compare costs across multiple financial years and report on the reasons for deviation in spend.

All the offers should be on the console. You shouldn't need to select from different tabs. You shouldn't need to go to each resource and check if it is there or not. You should be able to understand the reservation by doing it from one console. There should be a centralized console.

In terms of improvement, it would be beneficial if Azure Cost Management could automatically generate budget rules using AI insights, eliminating the need for manual configuration. This would make budgeting more efficient and advanced. In the next version, I hope for better AI to spot anomalies in our usage. Also, it would be great if the budget management could include a console for managing projects within departments and sub-departments, especially for cross-department projects.

There are certainly areas for improvement in terms of labeling the inventory. That's because right now, we use a number of services. But it's difficult when you look at the billing limiters and how they are named. We can't correlate those names to the actual services there. So, I can't click on an item and see if I'm still using this service or not. So it just rolls up and gives me values and figures, but I can't really correlate them to actual services on the Azure platform.

A more user-friendly interface that helps me associate the values I see with specific services on the Azure platform. It gives more options because there are probably services that I should not be using now, and that wouldn't have an impact on my overall cloud environment. But I can't really correlate it to the values I see on the metering with those particular services. So it's difficult for me to find the service. "I don't want to use this one, I want to add more of that," that kind of thing.

The solution could improve its APIs to access the customer application. This would help the user to integrate them into their current application itself.

The solution needs to improve its support management. The solution should exhibit ready-made templates and architectures for different problem statements, making it easy to understand the capabilities of the services. This would make it easy for the developers or architects to choose the right architecture.

There are significant issues with Power BI integration at the moment, particularly with built-in applications for course management. Multiple features don't allow for efficient report generation. This is one primary concern. The second issue relates to reporting, even when using Power BI templates for course management. There are problems with data import that require manual entry. So, these are the two main challenges I'm currently facing.

Another matter to consider is the removal of the markup option for partners. I'm not sure if it will be added back, but it used to allow marking up Azure usage for enterprise customers. I'm uncertain if there's an alternative way to achieve the same function. Partners need to mark up services when selling to customers, and it's currently unavailable for some products or services.

The product's foecasting needs improvement. The current approach, which uses the maximum incurred cost to forecast for an extended period, leads to freezing budgets unnecessarily. They could enhance the forecasting model by exploring alternative algorithms such as time series or other models. Additionally, they could expand the recommendation timeframe to allow for one-year plans, acknowledging that not all organizations may have a three-year workload plan.

The policy-based remediation is probably the biggest area where Azure is lacking and that's why we sell a lot of our technology to our customers.

We don't really use the Azure tools that much. We look at the underlying services themselves. I don't really go into the Azure console and therefore I don't know about specific missing features. It's actually quite good as a solution. It's actually pretty reasonable. However, it just doesn't have the automation that's required at scale.

The solution could use automatic emailing. That would help improve the product a lot, at least for our purposes.

If Azure could automate the creation of reports and have the system automatically email us on the solution, that would be ideal. It would even be acceptable to have them available on the dashboard so we don't have to go back and set up the same filters every time. That would be a time-saver for us. Just to have the solution automated to that extent would be good.

Overall, however, we've been pretty happy with the way the solution functions. There isn't too much missing, in my opinion.

For us, it only works for one provider. So we need to be more of a hybrid solution for any cloud. If it worked better with other cloud providers it would be better. I would like it to give you more. Not only a cost management review. I would like to see more insights into our cloud infrastructure. We use metrics like CPU, RAM and application utilization. So it could be good to have something like that. The interface is ok, but it could use some improvement.
