Detection capabilities improve threat identification while timeliness and accuracy need enhancement
Pros and Cons
- "Amazon Route 53 offers decent detection and low false positive rates."
- "Amazon Route 53 should focus on timeliness and work towards better accuracy. They need to ensure that the threats reported on are actual threats, as the software might miss catching them timely."
What is our primary use case?
Many customers purchase Amazon Route 53 to have a way for their signals and products to be led into a platform that allows for better detection and response capabilities. This includes the reduction of false positives. Amazon Route 53 is used by industries across the board, including small, medium, and large enterprises.
What is most valuable?
Amazon Route 53 offers decent detection and low false positive rates. The data comes into the platform, and Amazon Route 53's detection engine uses proprietary logic to sift through the noise to identify important or actionable threats. They do not alert on non-actionable items, making their alerts reliable and focused on concerns that matter.
What needs improvement?
Amazon Route 53 should focus on timeliness and work towards better accuracy. They need to ensure that the threats reported on are actual threats, as the software might miss catching them timely.
For how long have I used the solution?
I was there for five years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
Some challenges depend on products being integrated into the platform. While integration of EDR products is straightforward, connecting identity cloud environments presents more challenges.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability of Amazon Route 53 as strong, somewhere between seven and eight.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability became more challenging as they expanded the product line. They want to achieve growth, but keeping pace with scalability has been a challenge. I would rate them around a six or seven for scalability.
How are customer service and support?
I have been involved in support and would initially rate it as a ten. However, due to staff changes, the service decreased but remained strong, around a seven or eight.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I used Carbon Black before it was acquired, and recently worked for Huntress.
How was the initial setup?
The setup varies. As an implementation manager, I helped customers onboard. Amazon Route 53 relies on other tech vendors, which can pose challenges. EDR integration seems simpler, but challenges emerge with identity cloud setups.
What about the implementation team?
Amazon Route 53 does not require a deployment team. They integrate with existing tech rather than deploying their own, except for a Linux EDR agent.
What other advice do I have?
Amazon Route 53 should ensure a baseline understanding across the board. Improving organizational understanding would enhance customer support. I would rate them around a seven to 7.5 overall.
