It provides our customers with insights into what's happening in their environment to help them make decisions
Pros and Cons
  • "The license monitoring and management capabilities probably top the list of most valuable features in terms of everyday day utility. You can go to customers and say, "You have 100 licenses of Office 365 E3, but you only use 95, so we can adjust your licensing and save you some money.""
  • "The reporting is excellent, but it could always be better. Sometimes we'd like the reports to be in different formats. Auvik SaaS Management could also be better integrated with some of our other tools. It's like an island unto itself, but we're an Autotask shop. We use Datto RMM and Autotask PSA. It'd be great to see Auvik SaaS Management alerts in our Autotask tools."

What is our primary use case?

Auvik SaaS Management is part of a bundled solution we offer to all our customers. We primarily use it for two things: shadow IT monitoring and SaaS license management. We also use it for SaaS compliance, i.e., to ensure people aren't using tools they shouldn't be using. Auvik SaaS Management itself is a web browser extension we can deploy across all of our environments regardless of where they are.

How has it helped my organization?

Auvik SaaS Management provides our customers with insights into what's happening in their environment to help them make decisions. From our perspective as an MSP, Auvik SaaS Management allows us to demonstrate value to the customers. It shows them we're paying attention to this stuff.

It offers visibility into SaaS platforms and other software because it monitors all the licensing. It knows about all the software on a system. We know what software they're using and how they're using it. We can show a customer where you're overspending and buying more licenses than necessary. That's extremely valuable.

Auvik SaaS Management gives an excellent overview of our client's SaaS ecosystem. That's the primary reason for it. We can show our customers what is going on and all the licenses they're using. It lets us know if someone is using unauthorized apps or if they're using apps in a problematic way. We can tell them if their employees are copying files to a tool that they shouldn't be. Many of our customers are in highly regulated industries subject to a lot of compliance oversight. Auvik SaaS Management helps keep them out of trouble.

It's essential for compliance to understand where data is housed. They have to keep their data in a secure place and maintain control over it. It often has to be encrypted at rest. They can't have their data just anywhere. Auvik SaaS Management allows us to keep an eye on what's happening with our customers' data to stop problems before they start. It has substantially reduced customer risk.

Auvik SaaS Management has also reduced human error because people aren't always maliciously or intentionally putting data where it shouldn't be. Sometimes they don't understand that they're not supposed to use unauthorized solutions for work. It's just a human error kind of problem.

It's a huge time saver because everything is right there. We don't need to go to multiple places to find licensing information and how much they use. We can tell what's going on by pulling the reports and looking at the dashboards. It gives us a single pane of glass for managing multiple customers' entire SaaS environments. While I can't say we've eliminated any other tools, it's possible Auvik SaaS Management saved us from adding other tools. When we started using Auvik SaaS Management, it provided a service that didn't exist in the industry. There wasn't anything else out there that we could have used at the time.

What is most valuable?

The license monitoring and management capabilities probably top the list of most valuable features in terms of everyday day utility. You can go to customers and say, "You have 100 licenses of Office 365 E3, but you only use 95, so we can adjust your licensing and save you some money."

What needs improvement?

The reporting is excellent, but it could always be better. Sometimes we'd like the reports to be in different formats. Auvik SaaS Management could also be better integrated with some of our other tools. It's like an island unto itself, but we're an Autotask shop. We use Datto RMM and Autotask PSA. It'd be great to see Auvik SaaS Management alerts in our Autotask tools.

For example, if someone is utilizing a SaaS tool that we don't want them to use, I would like to see that on Autotask RMM dashboards. It would be great to have customer-specific licensing widgets in the dashboards.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Auvik SaaS Management since it was created. We were the first paying users.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Auvik SaaS Management is a highly stable solution. Most of our tech support interaction was in the early phase while working out how to deploy the tool correctly. It just runs now that the deployment is complete. We don't have issues. It doesn't crash. We don't get complaints from users about it. The majority of our users have no idea it's even there.

How are customer service and support?

I rate Auvik SaaS Management's support a 10 out of 10. They're excellent and highly responsive. One reason we got involved with Auvik SaaS Management so early is that we're located in the same town, so we've always had great access to the Auvik SaaS Management team. They have been responsive to our issues and open to our suggestions. There are some features that exist because we asked for them, and Auvik SaaS Management added them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

There weren't many competing solutions when Auvik SaaS Management came out. We were the first paying users of Auvik SaaS Management.

How was the initial setup?

I didn't set Auvik SaaS Management up because I'm the CEO. It requires little maintenance after deployment. Once the browser extension is in place, it updates when needed. We have a task configured in our RMM that automatically deploys it. We worked through that with the Auvik SaaS Management team. Once it's out there, we only need to pull the report for our monthly customer meetings.

What was our ROI?

All our customers benefit from Auvik SaaS Management, and it's priced low enough that it doesn't significantly reduce my margin. There's a lot of value in it. We get an excellent return on that investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Auvik SaaS Management is priced well. It's a no-brainer for us to implement it.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Auvik Auvik SaaS Management a 10 out of 10. It's one of our favorite tools. Users need to know that it operates as a browser extension and looks at all the software used on an end-user's computer. If they have a good relationship with their customer, that shouldn't be a problem.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

It gives our cybersecurity program an advantage because we can demonstrate that we have a sophisticated solution for shadow IT
Pros and Cons
  • "When we offboard an employee, we know which applications that employee used. For example, let's say Bob left the company, but we don't know all the applications he used. We can run a report showing everything Bob accessed, giving us some leverage to go back to the client and say, "Hey, these are all the applications he used. We manage these, and you still need to take care of these." It gives us expectations to provide to our clients."
  • "Before Auvik bought Saaslio, we struggled with the single sign-on because it would sign you off quickly. I would be presenting to my clients on the software or categorizing, like, "Hey, what is this app used for?" When I was inside Saaslio, it would kick me out, so I would have to log back in."

What is our primary use case?

Before Auvik SaaS Management, our biggest challenge was asking clients to compile a list of all the software they used. It was such a pain because it was so time-consuming for the clients. If you don't stay on top of it, you don't have all the software for the onboarding phase. Auvik SaaS Management enables us to put an agent on their computers and let it run for a month. Instead of asking the client for that list, we can provide them with a list of applications they use.

How has it helped my organization?

Auvik SaaS Management gives our cybersecurity program an advantage because we can demonstrate that we have a sophisticated solution for shadow IT. We can impress the clients by showing them that we see changes they're making that they haven't even reported to us.

It helps reduce risks, especially when our clients terminate an employee. They gain visibility into what needs to be shut off. A specific example is an employee who was using a general email for the company for accounting. We could identify that using Auvik SaaS Management and change the password for an account that multiple people were using. If it weren't for Auvik SaaS Management, we wouldn't have known that this employee had access to a shared email account, and something terrible could have happened.

Overall, Auvik SaaS Management made the process of onboarding and offboarding smoother. We replaced another network detection tool, but we weren't using it. We thought Auvik SaaS Management provided a better overall solution.

What is most valuable?

When we offboard an employee, we know which applications that employee used. For example, let's say Bob left the company, but we don't know all the applications he used. We can run a report showing everything Bob accessed, giving us some leverage to go back to the client and say, "Hey, these are all the applications he used. We manage these, and you still need to take care of these." It gives us expectations to provide to our clients.

The reporting features are critical, especially during employee offboarding. If we display that to the client when somebody's offboarding, it makes us look great because they know that we're not just saying, "Oh, what are they doing?" Right? We can provide them with, oh, look, they have everything that employees used to do, and give them peace of mind.

What needs improvement?

Before Auvik bought Saaslio, we struggled with the single sign-on because it would sign us off quickly. I would be presenting to my clients on the software or categorizing, like, "Hey, what is this app used for?" When I was inside Saaslio, it would kick me out, so I would have to log back in.

I believe this was fixed when Auvik took over, but I would go into an application and note that this is a critical application and is used for this. I would come off that application screen, and it only took 30 seconds for the window to disappear. It's a little nerve-wracking when you're presenting to your client. I just had to write down the application's purpose for them and go back to update it later. I think they are making changes, so it is improving.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Auvik SaaS Management for nearly a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I had some issues with stability before Auvik's acquisition. It seems like they needed to fix a few glitches in the system. Currently, they're at about 60%, but they're making a lot of changes for the better under Auvik.

How was the initial setup?

The initial deployment was effortless. We use Synchro MSP for our RMM, and that was one of the things that were incredibly smooth. We've used a lot of third-party solutions before, some of which make it hard to deploy the agent. We did the onboarding with a rep who showed us how to deploy the agent. It took us around five minutes to get the script on Synchro and deploy it. It was installed on all the devices we needed and worked seamlessly.

Deployment only required one person because everything was already organized on our RMM. It was simply a matter of getting that script and deploying it to all the computers. That probably took 10 minutes for all the client companies. Auvik SaaS Management requires no maintenance after deployment.

What was our ROI?

We don't see a direct return on investment, but it benefits our clients and expands our cybersecurity offerings. It's easier to sell our product with Auvik SaaS Management than without it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is great. Hopefully, it doesn't keep jumping up, but I think it's an appropriate price point for MSPs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We went right to Auvik SaaS Management. I know Microsoft has its own system, but Microsoft products are too complicated.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Auvik SaaS Management a nine out of ten. Go with Auvik SaaS Management. Once it is deployed to all the clients, make sure you have a package together. Obviously, you're paying more for this solution, so your clients should be aware of the expanded features you're offering. Once you get it onboarded, meet with all the clients to ensure they categorize the software correctly the first time. That's probably the only time you need to spend real time on the software. After that, it's just reading about the changes in the environment. It's an easy sell for anybody trying to provide cybersecurity features.
