We value the data replication and data sync jobs. We would like to see stable connectivity.
Pros and Cons
  • "Replication allows us to fully replicate all objects from Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) to in-house/on-premises database in one job."
  • "Performance also needs to be significantly improved, especially when connecting to SFDC for read and write operations."

What is most valuable?

I particularly value data replication and data sync jobs. Replication allows us to fully replicate all objects from Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) to in-house/on-premises database in one job.

I also appreciate the flexibility of the reset target option to reflect the source object structural changes to be implemented on the target database table side. This is awesome.

How has it helped my organization?

It helped the organization to always have the backup of SFDC data in-house for data warehousing purposes.

What needs improvement?

  • Stable connectivity: No matter what, our business requires steady, stable, and consistent connectivity. Regardless of how many columns in an SFDC object or how many rows in an SFDC object, we must have steady connectivity.
  • Performance also needs to be significantly improved, especially when connecting to SFDC for read and write operations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used this product for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are stability issues, especially when connecting to SFDC. At times, we do see connection time-out errors, though we have changed the properties in Informatica secure agent properties. We have also noticed that sometimes it does not cooperate well with SFDC read and write operations.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We did not encounter any scalability issues.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support can be described as average.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The client was using data loader, but as the demand increased to replicate the data and frequency of data replication, they moved on to Informatica Cloud.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was pretty straightforward. You just have to login to the server where you want to download, install, and run the Informatica secure agent

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing structure is good, but having to pay for extra drivers to be used in an ICS environment makes me a little nervous.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The client had already purchased this solution and it was up and running in all of their different environments

What other advice do I have?

It’s a great product which allows the connection to a number of cloud based technologies such as Workday and Salesforce.

We will be continuing to use the solution.

We have dealt with technical support and they are very good. We are quite satisfied with their level of service.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did previously use another solution.

The initial setup is not complex. The implementation is quite straightforward, actually.

As a cloud solution, the deployment doesn't take too long.

  • We need not be in the office to perform tasks
  • We use it to run jobs, even at midnight, based on the requests of the business users.

What needs improvement?

It needs lot of improvement from the admin to the development side. There are many known issues while mapping. The error information provided is not informative, as compared to Power Center.

There used to be performance issues. Throughput is slow when we do not have the Informatica Secure Agent running on the DB instance.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It has not yet been identified.

How are customer service and technical support?

I would give the technical support a rating of 2/5. Informatica doesn't provide on-call or technical support for AWS instances. We need to rely on responses from the forums if we raise any queries.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Power Center. I switched to the Informatica Cloud (IC), as it is cheaper compared to Power Center. It gave us a chance to explore a new tool and technology.

The setup is straightforward

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is cost effective and an easily accessible tool.

What other advice do I have?

It totally depends on the business requirements and the budget. I have been working on Informatica for more than nine years, and I recommend using their products.

What is most valuable?

I like the fact that you can find almost any product connection that you need and the list is always expanding.

How has it helped my organization?

Basically, it just allows connections with Amazon AWS/S3/Redshift.

Data synchronization tasks, mapping designer tasks and scheduling are valuable features.
Pros and Cons
  • "Data synchronization tasks."
  • "Error reporting and debugging need improvement."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are:

  • Data synchronization tasks
  • Mapping designer tasks
  • Scheduling

How has it helped my organization?

We are using this for integration of on-premise Oracle EBS, Navision and cloud applications, such as Salesforce, BigMachines, etc.

What needs improvement?

Error reporting and debugging need improvement.

They need to improve on the upgrade testing process from their end so that it does not cause any issue to existing functionality/setup.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for 36 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Sometimes after upgrades, it gives some trouble for already working tasks. We need to report bugs to get a solution from Informatica.

We have not had scalability issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

I rate support 8/10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Excellent mass ingestion functionality and great elasticity
Pros and Cons
  • "The mass ingestion functionality and the elasticity of the solution are great."
  • "The price modeling could be more flexible."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case of this solution is for data integration; integrating cloud warehouse or cloud layout. Cloud Data Integration offers capabilities that didn't exist in the on-prem version. I'm the company product manager.

What is most valuable?

The mass ingestion functionality and the elasticity of the solution are great. It enables you to leverage the elasticity capability that the cloud provides. You can build a process, scale-up and leverage all the elasticity and the automatic provision the cloud has. What took 10 hours to do in the on-prem version, takes less than an hour in the cloud. It's a huge difference. The solution is designed for a cloud-native approach with native components and connectors for all the cloud-ready solutions we need nowadays.

What needs improvement?

I think the price modeling could be improved. Currently, the IPU consumption is defined on a monthly basis and if you don't use all the IPUs available in a particular month, they are lost. A more flexible pricing model is something Informatica should look at.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good, we raise the tickets in the Informatica Support Portal.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is great once you have a clear roadmap of migration to the cloud. In the cloud migration journey, it's important to be clear of the entire process.

I rate this solution nine out of 10.

Reliable, scalable, but integration could improve
Pros and Cons
    • "I have received feedback from certain teams and there is a steep learning curve to use this solution."

    What needs improvement?

I have received feedback from certain teams and there is a steep learning curve to use this solution.

In a future release, there should be better integration with other governance tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Informatica Cloud Data Integration for approximately three years. We have been using it consistently for one year in a large project.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    The solution is reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Informatica Cloud Data Integration has a strong enterprise customer base and this is one of the main reasons why we choose to work with them. The solution is scalable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use other similar products similar to Informatica Cloud Data Integration.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not easy.

    What about the implementation team?

The implementation would be best to be done by experts.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our customers sometimes are able to negotiate a much better price for Informatica Cloud Data Integration based on their relationship with the vendor.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Informatica Cloud Data Integration a seven out of ten.
