Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Dell EqualLogic, and 3PAR. I like the 3PAR, but it is very expensive. Instead, I just spent money for fast SSD drives, installed FreeNAS, and you have a better solution then 3PAR.

How was the initial setup?

It's easy to install. You download the program, and click through the wizard which - very simple. At the end, you just browse the IP and configure your storage the way you want to.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented it in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You have to pay for your hardware, but FreeNAS itself is open-source.

What other advice do I have?

After using FreeNAS I will never spend money for commercial products like Dell or 3Par.
