We performed a comparison between Microsoft Power BI, TIBCO Jaspersoft, and Windward Core based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Microsoft, Tableau, Oracle and others in Reporting."It is useful for bringing visualization to data. It calculates counts, ratios, etc."
"Technical support is quite good."
"The querying capabilities are the most valuable because they allow me to build many automations. We have many workflows and many databases that we work on a daily basis. They need to be updated quite quickly. In order to not to take much of our time doing these updates manually, I have set up these automations using the systems. The process is just to ingest the data and reprocess it. Every time I click a button, everything is updated in almost real time. It is by far the easiest system not only for querying but also for data modeling, data visualization, and deployment. It is light years ahead of Tableau and even Microsoft Excel to do these kinds of things. It is very easy to use and set up, and it has a lot of videos on the internet."
"We have found the product to be scalable."
"It is very good, and it supports the Microsoft ecosystem, including Excel, etc."
"Microsoft BI's most valuable features are the user interface, which is easy to use and light."
"It's a pretty scalable product."
"Users already using Excel can generate new reports and dashboards within minutes."
"With the online view, it's easier to create Ad Hoc reports. It has inbuilt reports so we can easily get data from the system and customize the fields."
"The growth time is the most valuable feature of TIBCO Jaspersoft."
"You can do quite a lot with it in terms of automated reports and dashboards."
"The end-user reporting is very handy and the standard reports that can be achieved by using Jaspersoft Studio are quite impressive."
"We can set any property dynamically."
"The designer is the most valuable feature."
"The feature that I like most is the drag and drop capability."
"I give the stability of the solution a nine out of ten."
"The most valuable features are the ability for it to be integrated into our software solution and the AutoTag tool that allows us to quite quickly create and update the templates themselves."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that it uses Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel as base templates, so when you generate, it's easy for clients to upgrade, and maintain, and generate out either a PDF or an actual Excel spreadsheet."
"It has the ability to easily integrate into existing apps with little code. If you know how to use MS Office, you can create a report."
"From an integration perspective, they provide the code for you to easily integrate with existing applications."
"We can develop any report at least five times faster."
"Technical support is very good. They reply immediately and follow-up with any questions."
"Some of our clients are looking at the nested filtering which is coming out. That's going to be a huge benefit for them because they're going to be able to nest and loop while they're also looking at filtering out certain data elements."
"One of the things they added in the last two or three years is PODs, Portable Object Doclets. One of our clients said they wanted to use PODs. They're a good way to make some constructs modular and keep things in one place."
"BI is scalable, but there are some problems with limited online storage."
"The solution doesn't integrate well with third-party tools."
"It needs more analytic tools."
"We would like improvements made to the paginated reports so that it produces quality similarly to SSRS."
"Microsoft should offer additional features for visualization and have additional features for slicing and dicing that data."
"Power BI doesn't support some open-source data sources that are new, such as SnowSQL, Iceberg, or ClickHouse."
"Microsoft BI has its own challenges in terms of user interface and how quickly somebody can learn how to use it."
"They can improve the user interface a little bit to make it more user-friendly. When creating a dashboard, it is not very user-friendly. You have to click on a certain style and use your keyboard keys to move it. You cannot drag and drop it."
"TIBCO Jaspersoft would benefit from enabling you to run multiple reports in one file and incorporating more options related to multiple reports."
"Currently, JSON format is the main format we use, however, in TIBCO Jaspersoft, XML format is the default and JSON did not work because TIBCO did not fix it."
"The Ad Hoc Report Writer does not include as many features as Tableau and needs to be improved to meet expectations."
"Customization is an area with certain shortcomings in the solution that needs improvement."
"The stability of TIBCO Jaspersoft needs improvement."
"A better focus should be put on self-service reporting."
"There might be some compatibility issues with the dashboard if we're using the latest version and some clients are using the older version. Some features might not be supported."
"I would like to see better support for big data."
"It is software, so there are always times where things don't work. Most of the time issues happen when trying to move to a new version. There might be problems with reports that were created in an older version, so either we have to make a tweak to the templates or we report it to them and get them to make an adjustment to their software."
"Their PDF needs improvement. We've run into some issues when we tried to generate a Word document. If we try to generate the same document in PDF, sometimes it doesn't look exactly the same."
"I'm still working in Office 2016, and we have had some issues, but Windward is very quick to react when there is a problem. We are also going to switch over to Office 365 and that will solve a few of the problems."
"The reason it took us so long to get the system up and running is that the APIs could be improved a bit. It could be a little bit more interoperable with software, without having to do a lot of the heavy lifting that we had do to get it in."
"The error reports also need improvement. If you don't key it in right, it's a little hard to find the root cause. It gives you information as much as it can, but it doesn't really hone in and tell you explicitly what you should do to correct the problem."
"They should add a document distribution solution on top of the document generation capability. It should allow us to send the generated document to a certain recipient (e.g. customer contact’s email address) based on a business-rules management system. That system would allow the end-user to manage a relationship between a document template and its recipient."
"The next release could benefit from a cloud-based environment."
"About six months ago, we raised the possibility of improving the way they manage the HTML 5. Sometimes, when you insert a lot of data in the data source, you get an error because it is not managing HTML 5 features well. I believe they have addressed this in later versions of their product."
