We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One feature I like about CA Performance Management is the certification of the devices.""When we deployed it, right out of the box we were able to stand up Performance Management within two weeks, in our production environment, with full discovery and relevant information, actual information, that we could use in our command center, our 24/7 operations center.""Great dashboards and good integration with other solutions.""It is the gathering of the whole performance data in our environment and our network environment, for us and our customers.""It can be easily integrated with other systems and is powerful enough to collect data from a large number of devices.""One of the most valuable features is the ease of use.""What is most useful is visibility.""The integration to the other products that we use: NFA, we use ADA, we use Spectrum; and CAPM integrates all those into a single pane of glass."

"The most valuable thing that we have seen within our group is the ability to ingest all this raw data and have it organized in a certain way so that different groups can get effective alerting from this massive amount of raw data that is out there.""The most valuable feature in this solution is the log searching.""It's a very easy-to-use solution.""The solution's basic visibility is one of its most valuable features. So, it is a solution that is easy to use...The solution's initial setup process was straightforward.""We haven't really experienced any glitches or bugs.""The alerts are the most valuable feature.""The data collection from our VMs, containers, databases, and backend components is valuable.""I find the monitoring console very helpful. With one click, I can see how we are performing, and at the same time, I can see what data is flowing."

Cons
"Global synchronization errors. Sometimes it just doesn't finish in time due to the load.""It needs role-based administration.""I have mixed feeling about the scalability. I feel like there are things which are being put into UIM right now that are not being included in Performance Center that we need to see in Performance Center. We are kind of being driven to buy UIM, and I can't justify it.""Since we are out of registered IP space, we are moving to ipv6 and we expect our vendors to move with us, and they have not delivered yet.""There are some areas in the technology right now, like with VMs, where we are lacking with our abilities to get inside the VM to monitor traffic within the machine.""The solution could improve the database model. It is also not very good because they have a lot of interconnections with other data sources, such as NFA and VNA.""For CA PM, there should be a way of easily migrating the reports coming from eHealth going to CA Performance Center, since CA PC is replacing eHealth.""The quantity of views which are tied to specific metric families is too high. Also, the problem is the view doesn't tell you which metric family it uses, so you don't know why you don't see data."

More DX Performance Management Cons →

"Splunk could be better integrated with configuration manager solutions so we can automatically resolve issues without human interference.""A lot of customers had a hard time effectively searching within the data in Splunk. There is a learning curve from searches to indexes and using all the macros that we have created. It is a little difficult for somebody who has not used it quite a bit and does not have a lot of practice with it, but the AI features that we have been hearing about through Splunk will make it a lot easier for us to use human language to search this data. That is big. That is pretty powerful, and that will help a lot with our customers.""It would be useful if they provided some help pages. If you don't know too much about the tool, there should be more documentation readily available. It would be useful if they had a help button embedded in the solution so you could ask questions and get answers.""They do not have all the features that I expect right now.""They need more EDR functionalities.""In the next release, I would like to see more integration with other solutions.""The solution should have more sensors regarding fiber intelligence for security measures.""This solution is difficult to configure and the instructions are complex."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We were looking at other vendors in the marketplace for NetFlow, and CA just beat everybody else in price, cost, and the size to implement. "
  • "Do your homework and know how many devices you will be managing out of the gate. Be sure to project what your growth will be each year."
  • "They should provide more scalable licensing for the product."
  • "I like the licensing model because it's device-based."
  • "We purchase a license to use the solution every three years and we have multiple contracts. They have been increasing the price annually. We have a baseline for three years and then we need to pay the difference from the baseline, and we are in the process of negotiating a new price for all the licenses we need. The price overall is affordable."
  • "The tool's pricing is based on the number of network devices."
  • More DX Performance Management Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The product is a bit expensive considering the competition but the company may negotiate the price."
  • "This is an expensive solution."
  • "The solution's pricing is competitive. I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten. The price of the solution could be cheaper."
  • "Splunk has been fairly expensive, but it has been predictable."
  • "I would rate the price of Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring as an eight out of ten, with ten being the most expensive."
  • "I am not in that circle, but we are currently licensing based on our queries. That is working out for us. Previously, it was by volume of data, and now, we can store as much data as we want."
  • "It is expensive."
