We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We can take something from crontab, something that's very nitty-gritty and low-level, and be able to put it into a nice interface, and be able to track it at every junction along the way, add alerting, interdependencies.""Number one, A+, is the scripting language, and the ability to go in, and take an already robust, consistent, strong tool, and turn it into an incredibly scalable, flexible tool, that you can literally do anything you want to with.""We have seen a cost improvement from it.""I like the script engine of CA, where you can build everything you want.""The most important and critical process business in the bank, including COB, closed or business, which has to run on a daily basis, is automated.""We do not have to use a broad variety of agents to connect to different types of systems.""The Zero Upgrade feature is the most valuable.""Stability has been great. My team, we call ourselves "the invisibles" because things run so well that sometimes you almost feel like you have to try to break something to actually get acknowledged."

"The product is simple for encrypting data transfer of all the assets in our system.""It’s very flexible.""It is an easy-to-use and stable product.""It makes a logical link between the inbound/outbound transfer, and makes it clearly visible. This is a very important feature for managing transfer with different environments, and it's very helpful in case of troubleshooting.""AMPLIFY has all the essential features for managing file transfer.""Axway consolidated all of our communications into one platform, simplifying network and port management. Now, all we have to do is open one port to this application, and we can remove all the firewall rules on that port. It's much more straightforward to manage from a security perspective. We used to rely on an archaic FTP solution, but Axway features SFTP, so it was an improvement security-wise."

Cons
"There are some scripting elements that could be added.""There were many bugs in the last version. For example, we could only use capital letters for searching for agent names. Also, we had a problem with ONE Automation where we couldn't use the PGA and SGA in Oracle Databases for resolving RAM because the last version didn't have this capability.""It is a bit of a problem, because they like to do email ping-pong via their web page. Sometimes, it would be much easier if someone would call you on the phone.""The web-based edition is missing a lot of the most important features available in Automic, we have absence. For example, when I'm scheduling a job, there is normally a flag that you can toggle to activate and deactivate the task, but that doesn't work properly in the web version. It's missing a lot of the calendar and scheduling features.""There are certain jobs that are triggered one after another. It would be helpful to have a more user-friendly way of seeing how these jobs are connecting from one server to another.""I would like a good AWI in the next release. The AWI is not fully functional at this time.""A little less button clicking, in the navigation of the tool itself would also help. There is a lot out there, and I understand that's what keeps the tool robust. It keeps our options open, but it's a bit click-y sometimes. To get where you need to go, you have to go through 10 levels.""There is a problem with the installation translation. It is some type of hybrid. We have some parts in German and some in English. It should be completely in German and completely in English. It should be better in the future."

More Automic Workload Automation Cons →

"Sometimes, the application's embedded databases couldn't perform well for a higher volume of data.""The initial setup was quite complex.""One area of improvement is troubleshooting. When a transfer fails, they provide little information about the login, which makes troubleshooting difficult. Also, file transfer scheduling is primitive. By that, I mean you can't define a complex schedule, like scheduling a job to run at particular hours multiple times in a day.""Improvement in Data Encoding would be very appreciated (I'm thinking of ASCII-EBCDIC, ASCII-ASCII, etc.).""We only hope that they continue to keep updating the solution and improving the offering. They could always do more updates and releases.""It is complicated to manage multi-operations, particularly in handling file name changes within file transcripts.""The areas in need of improvement are the monitoring and the cut-off management, when needed. Today you have at least two solutions: Buy the other Axway suite, Sentinel, or integrate it into your monitoring system."

  • "Automatic is heavily integrated in our organization. The cost to change would be a huge factor for us, and we have not found any other product that is better out there."
  • "Do your own proof of concept. Make sure you know what you want. Be clear about what you want the product to do for you. Go out and meet with the vendor, then test it."

  • "It costs to scale. While, it is scalable, the add-ons are expensive."
  • "It has helped us reduce costs."
  • "You do not need any humans to start jobs, so you can save a lot of money."
  • "We have received a lot of time and cost efficiencies from using the product."
  • "We cannot use all the functions because they are too expensive."
