Check Point Cloud Firewall (formerly CloudGuard Network Security) Reviews

We utilize CloudGuard Network Security for internet surfing and handle inter-sector traffic between VPCs. Specifically, we have over 200 accounts in AWS, each with its own VPC. The solution interconnects all the regions. 

The tool's most valuable feature is its scalability. You will only have to pay less for scaling up. Its notable benefit is deployment complexity. Regional deployment is simpler compared to on-premise setup. 

When upgrading the firewall, the old VPC containing the firewalls needs to be destroyed. After that, a new firewall is redeployed in the setup. Additionally, there's a need to separate the routing, and the routing from the old VPC has to be recreated in the new one.

I have been using the product for two years. 

We had issues with stability. We have an open ticket at the support regarding this. 

CloudGuard Network Security is scalable. 

The tool's support is good. 

CloudGuard Network Security is not too cheap. 

I don't see any difference in user experience between on-prem and the cloud setup. We have an MDS environment where we can manage the whole country. The tool enables us to manage policies on the same platform for branches and regions in the country. I rate the product an eight out of ten. 

We use CloudGuard Network Security to protect our customer's Azure environments. 

The tool's deployment is rapid. Its dashboard is also useful. It's easy to deploy both on-premises and in Azure. In an office with VMware running, deployment is a simple process. Similarly, in Azure, deployment is easy and scalable. Adding more CPUs is a straightforward task – just shut it down, modify the security, and restart. This ease of use translates into cost and resource savings, and faster deployment times.

Clustering in Azure is a bit different, not using the Check Point cluster but relying on load balancing. It's not as instant as I'm used to; in Azure, it might take around half a minute to a minute, and during this time, services could be down. The delay is attributed to Azure using its load balancing mechanisms instead of the Check Point cluster.

I have been using the product for three to four years. 

The tool's technical support is generally good. While there might be occasional delays, they usually manage to resolve issues.

In Azure, when we refer to "size," it could be in terms of factors like the number of instances, bandwidth, or users. We use cloud-native platforms but prefer Check Point solutions. It is easier to manage since we know Check Point is on-prem. I have a high level of confidence in CloudGuard Network Security. I am familiar with Check Point and Azure. I rate the overall product a nine out of ten. 

We use the solution to control all the emails that go out from the company. We also use it to protect our network by stopping unauthorized people from accessing it.

The product enables us to check the information that goes out of the company. We get to know if someone sends our sales emails to our competitors. We control the information that goes out of the company. It’s a good product.

The product must provide different features like antivirus.

The tool always performs very well. All the upgrades happen automatically. We haven't had a problem with it.

A while back, we deployed Kubernetes, and it was exposed to the internet, resulting in the environment being affected by malware. Check Point CloudGuard Posture Management has helped our organization prevent such attacks from occurring in our environment.

The most valuable feature is the single dashboard that enables us to manage the entire cloud environment from one place.

The dashboard customization has room for improvement.

Check Point CloudGuard Posture Management is an important component of a cloud environment that enables us to gain visibility across all areas and configure easily. I highly recommend this solution.

My clients were different small businesses, and they were migrating to the cloud. We've been using it as a general cloud security tool. 

The interface in terms of being able to have access for myself and the client so that we can easily observe and watch what is going on, has really improved the organization. 

We have seen time to value with this solution. We will continue to use more Check Point solutions in the future.

The versatility is the solution's most valuable feature.

We wanted to protect, analyze, and detect issues within the infrastructure that we have taken to the cloud. We were looking for ways that we can analyze and introduce a more complete internal forensic analysis so that if an intrusion did not happen, we could have a visualization in which we could be constantly learning how to detect and ee anomalies and provide analysis for detection in real-time. 

We needed a solution that could handle analysis and offer automated detection with process intelligence. We were interested in threat prevention in real-time to help us detect anomalies, attempts, and atypical actions in any of the activities of the teams or users. The goal was to take advantage of that learning and detection. Machine learning supervises and analyzes in an advanced way everything that is happening in the cloud. It works within any type of cloud and can be integrated more so if we want to migrate or scale tomorrow, we can carry out this detection automatically.

The solution learns day by day. It learns from behavior, attacks, management, detections, captures packets, real-time analysis, et cetera. It's generating knowledge from a variety of sources for an excellent analysis. 

This allows us to move faster and have more efficient responses to incidents. It provides alerts for all these types of activities, achieving more objective management for packet capture and a combination of activities within the cloud environment.

I'd like to see more advanced encryption for local features, which is not present right now. We'd like to have more defined control when implementing intelligent analysis on the cloud. We'd like to extend analysis not just to crowds but to local teams for more granular analysis and advanced searchability.

The initial setup of Check Point CloudGuard Posture Management difficulty depends on how you want to set it up. There are always some problems when you have to connect it to your cloud systems. However, this will only add time to the process.

Check Point CloudGuard Posture Management is always known as a good solution but an expensive one. When you're using Cisco, Check Point, or Palo Alto, you know that you will pay more, but you know that it will work.

I rate Check Point CloudGuard Posture Management an eight out of ten.

We are integrators and implemented this product for a customer to monitor traffic and secure a network on cloud. This is a threat prevention solution and I'm the enterprise security lead. Our company is based in the Philippines and we are customers of Check Point. 

Deploying this solution has made it easier for our security analysts to monitor the network on cloud. Based on compliance, we can easily give evidence to different auditors or regulators on how to protect our cloud infrastructure. 

Advanced check prevention is a great feature that provides threat intelligence at speed. We can easily identify malicious activity and check for any vulnerabilities. The solution has great functionality and we can see the movement of data. If there's any malicious activity, we can easily stitch or make a story out of that data. I think when it comes to functionality, it's a good monitoring tool. 

The cost is a little high, it doesn't suit every budget. I'd like to see the ability to integrate with other security solutions which is not currently possible. If you need to integrate, you have to buy a Check Point product as well so you're paying for features. 

The solution is stable. 

The solution is scalable and I think they might increase their scope on different virtual, private clouds or private subnets. Monitoring involves anywhere from three to five people. 

When it comes to Check Point support, we just file a ticket on the portal. They respond based on the severity of the problem. They've been very responsive on inquiries and issues that we encountered although we haven't had any major issues.

The initial setup was pretty straightforward. It's like running our VM on cloud, just speeding it up. When it comes to implementation strategy, we need to list all the assets or the traffic VLANs or network segmentation we want to monitor. From there, we assess how many nodes CloudGuard Network Security needs to monitor all those VLANs. It then takes two to three weeks to implement, given the likelihood of some challenges along the way. Deployment is carried out using a mix of Check Point engineers and in-house IT people. 

In terms of security solutions and return on investment, it's really about the total assets you're protecting.

If you're managing a large cloud infrastructure this is an expensive solution. Check Point has different bundles when it comes to CloudGuard and it's a modular system.

Before purchasing it's important to assess the size of your cloud infrastructure. You need to have a concrete plan for which virtual or private network or clouds you have to scope and to do that before deciding which solution you want and what functionality you need. 

I rate this solution eight out of 10 since there has been some improvement with regard to integrations.

We resell the CloudGuard Workload Protection product. If a customer comes to us looking for a CSM tool, for example, we evaluate their needs and suggest a good option, like this solution.

The way they offer container security is a big highlight that I have noticed. The solution is also agentless, so the scanning, runtime, really everything is offered directly by CloudGuard.

The technical support could be better, but I do not know of any other needed improvements.

If your company's environment is more developer-focused, meaning it has more containers and is running on Kubernetes, I would certainly recommend choosing Checkpoint.

The most valuable feature is posture management, which gives you complete visibility of all your assets in the cloud and allows you to do governance and compliance.

CloudGuard could be improved by including integration with vendors other than AWS, especially Azure, especially in permissions. In the next release, I would like them to include some kind of online scanning on code in the development phase.
