I use the solution to expose fact files to have more latency. We expose the front end of applications using the product.
Software Developer 4 at WEX Inc. (NYSE: WEX)
A widely used, customizable solution with good support
Pros and Cons
- "We can personalize a lot of things inside CDN."
- "The product should be more intuitive."
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
We can personalize a lot of things inside CDN.
What needs improvement?
The product should be more intuitive. It should provide better descriptions of the fields. It can improve the cache and have some customization inside cache configurations. While the product is easy to understand for a developer, it is not so easy for a DevOps engineer like me.
How are customer service and support?
Support is good. Once, I wanted to increase the response time and did not understand which feature to use. So I requested support to increase the timeout. At that moment, it was intuitive because I searched the Internet and understood the use case.

How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
How was the initial setup?
The ease of setup depends upon the use cases. If you are using the most common use case, it's not difficult to set up. We can put our application in origin. We can put an S3 bucket as the origin and research and request from there. You can limit the request to be private inside the product and S3. When we need to go a little bit deep, like when we need to customize some things related to cache, the setup is not intuitive.
What about the implementation team?
We do not need to maintain the product after deployment and calibration. We customize the information from our application in the product and choose the use case. We do not need to worry about maintaining the solution after that.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Cloudflare is more simple, but it is more focused on other use cases. Most companies I work with use 90% CloudFront and 10% Cloudflare.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

Consultant Architect - Cloud Deployments, DevOps and Information Security at a tech services company with 11-50 employees
Has easy configurations and local hosting with extremely minimal downtime rates
Pros and Cons
- "Edge configuration and availability are vital features for easy content drop-off requests"
- "One of the biggest challenges with Amazon CloudFront is their pricing policy"
What is our primary use case?
The product offers content delivery network services. For instance, you might have a couple of applications hosted in the AWS cloud that need to be accessible through various regions, to ensure low latency rates in every location, a CDE is utilized with Amazon CloudFront to achieve it.
When you have a CloudFront solution, it may also require additional security components, which we support at our company with related web application firewalls and routing. I have experience in deploying multiple solutions on AWS as a consultant. In our company, we use eight to ten AWS solutions on a daily basis. Our company is a service provider for AWS.
What is most valuable?
Edge configuration and availability are vital features for easy content drop-off requests.
What needs improvement?
The policies and prices keep on changing frequently with AWS solutions, including Amazon CloudFront. One of the biggest challenges with Amazon CloudFront is their pricing policy, which if mishandled can land a user with huge bills.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have previously used Amazon CloudFront for five years, there was a gap in between when I was working on OpenStack, but I am back again with Amazon CloudFront for one and a half years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
At our company, we have never witnessed downtime with Amazon CloudFront for the failover zones and regions for global servers. I would rate the stability an eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten. Amazon CloudFront can meet all our company's scaling requirements.
How are customer service and support?
Our company received outstanding support from AWS for Amazon CloudFront. The quality of support depends on the license agreements. I would rate the tech support an eight out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before Amazon CloudFront, I used OpenStack with varying configurations for multiple locations. I switched to Amazon CloudFront as my new company prefers it.
How was the initial setup?
The Amazon CloudFront integrations that are available for our company's content delivery needs are well-driven through the applications. I personally have greater experience with AWS Command Line Interface than the front-end, I believe client commands can also be executed with Amazon CloudFront without any challenges.
I would rate the initial setup a seven out of ten. The solution is not used daily in our organization. Amazon CloudFront is used in our organization as per the use case by utilizing the excellent documentation available for the tool. The content configuration is implemented using the documentation.
Our company has published numerous solutions using Amazon CloudFront, but few experiments were conducted until we came across outstanding research. I think it's smart enough to find the right solution at the right point to get it quickly deployed. A wide range of configurations are possible with Amazon CloudFront. The solution is majorly deployed for public content delivery.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing structure is complicated.
What other advice do I have?
The use case of Amazon CloudFront in content delivery processes depends upon the application front of our organization. All the applications have their own configuration and customer locations, where the company's team can input a couple of static or dynamic websites that require attention. Our organization's team depends on CDL to ensure that the cache is available to the customers.
Amazon CloudFront has improved the global content delivery speed in our organization due to accelerated access. The solution can be locally hosted and managed. It's an excellent solution in terms of cost, technology, availability and reliability. Amazon CloudFront has extremely minimal downtime rates.
There are rarely any competitor management solutions that would have the same level of efficiency and advantages as Amazon CloudFront in our organization. The product isn't used in our company for heavy use cases such as live streaming, we use it for basic requirements from the customers.
One of the solution's best features is logging and monitoring, which provides all the alerts on time. The aforementioned features ensure that the available services are not only up and running but resilient as well. The product deals with one-time configurations.
Except for a few difficulties in the initial days after solution deployment, we haven't faced any challenges with Amazon CloudFront in our company. As the core function of the tool, deliverables are fixed, and the cache manages them accordingly. I would recommend Amazon CloudFront to other professionals, depending on their budget. Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Offers detailed documentation, ability to reduce latency and improves content delivery performance
Pros and Cons
- "The distribution aspect of CloudFront and its ability to reduce latency are most beneficial."
- "There is room for improvement in customer service and support."
What is our primary use case?
This product is used for website content distribution.
How has it helped my organization?
We implemented CloudFront for two of our clients, including one called NIS (National Administrative Technologies). They provide a platform for students to access classrooms, lectures, and examinations. The students required fast processing and content delivery, so we used CloudFront for that.
So, CloudFront significantly improved content delivery performance.
Primarily, it reduces latency. We only use CloudFront in certain projects, including some government initiatives.
What is most valuable?
The distribution aspect of CloudFront and its ability to reduce latency are most beneficial. It really helps reduce the time it takes for content to reach the client.
Compared to Google, where we work with some big clients like JSL (one of India's top ten companies), AWS offers smoother integration. Their services are mature and well-documented. This makes the process easier for us.
What needs improvement?
There is room for improvement in customer service and support.
We have a PDM [Program Delivery Manager], but we struggle to get help with things like competencies and documentation.
For example, we need business plan document formats, and they say we can't get that support until we're an Advanced-Tier partner.
Partners below Advanced-Tier aren't getting the resources they need. There should be something in place for partners who are still growing.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been working with it for about two years now. My company has been working with AWS for five to six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability an eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable product. I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
Sometimes, I find that the customer service and support are not easily approachable. Even as a close-to-Advanced Tier partner, we sometimes struggle to get the support we need regarding documentation. Overall, I'm not happy with their technical and sales support.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is not complex at all. I didn't have any difficulty or major issues configuring it.
Moreover, integration with other third-party solutions is very easy. Compared to Google, where we work with some big clients like JSL (one of India's top ten companies), AWS offers smoother integration. Their services are mature and well-documented. This makes the process easier for us.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Compared to competitors like Azure and Google, we find AWS pricing to be advantageous.
AWS excels in its detailed documentation and security features. That makes it a better choice for us.
What other advice do I have?
I would definitely recommend using this solution. We recommend CloudFront, which provides a clear benefit, not universally for every project.
Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?
The technical support team from AWS is excellent. They provide very good support and are responsive to any issues we encounter on their cloud platform. If we face any problems, we can easily raise a ticket with the AWS team, and they assign an engineer to help resolve the issue. Overall, there are no issues with their support. Configuration issues can arise within our local technical team, which manages our cloud platform services for customers. In such cases, the AWS platform provides a reliable solution, ensuring a hundred percent resolution.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I used to work with AWS and Azure, and we provided cost comparisons for customers to help them choose the right services. Azure tends to be more user-friendly and easier to understand, while AWS may take more time.
What other advice do I have?
I rate the overall solution a nine out of ten.

A solution that provides security and needs its users to go through an easy setup phase
Pros and Cons
- "Feature-wise, I like the solution's signed URL because it provides security for me."
- "During the setup phase, there were some hiccups in terms of security, the user role, and the permissions."
What is our primary use case?
I have been using Amazon CloudFront to create and then set up a signed URL, which is something I need for my project.
What is most valuable?
Feature-wise, I like the solution's signed URL because it provides security for me.
What needs improvement?
I don't know yet what can be improved in the solution. I don't have time to dig into it.
During the setup phase, there were some hiccups in terms of security, the user role, and the permissions. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Amazon CloudFront for one of my recent projects. I am a customer of the solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
For scalability, considering AWS, I can say for the Docker container, I can launch multiple instances.
How are customer service and support?
I haven't contacted customer support yet. I'd use online pages, YouTube, and all kinds of sources, but I won't prefer calling customer service directly.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward.
What other advice do I have?
I think everything in the solution looks fine to me because I've been back and forth between Azure and Amazon's UIs. So, I think I'm okay.
Since I haven't explored the solution yet, I rate the overall product an eight out of ten.

Solution architect at a integrator with 51-200 employees
Easy to install, stable, and scalable
Pros and Cons
- "It is stable."
- "They should have more Edge locations so that CloudFront can be used much more. If they can make it a little bit cheaper and better than other networks, we will be able to use it more."
What is our primary use case?
We use it for media content delivery to different geographical locations. We have its latest version.
What is most valuable?
It is stable.
What needs improvement?
Its price is really high and can be improved. From the technology perspective, they should have some multi-platform integration. When you are configuring something on top of it, it is geoblocking. There are some limitations for the IP addresses, which other solutions don't have.
They should have more Edge locations so that CloudFront can be used much more. If they can make it a little bit cheaper and better than other networks, we will be able to use it more.
They don't have a lot of PoPs in Asia-Pacific. That's one of the reasons why there is some latency. They can reduce this latency by adding multiple PoPs. If we are concentrating on markets, such as Vietnam, the Philippines, where we don't have PoPs, we have to ride on other providers.
For how long have I used the solution?
We started to use it six months ago.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is scalable.
How are customer service and technical support?
I've never interacted with them. Normally, with the help of the documentation, you can manage it on your own.
How was the initial setup?
It took about half an hour to install it. Its installation is not a big thing, but setting up rules and everything else takes a few hours.
What about the implementation team?
We are a consultancy company. We used to do the installation, and we also used to have a consultancy with other companies.
For its deployment and maintenance, three to four guys are required. One architect is there, and then there is one manager and two engineers.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Its price is really on the high side. It should be cheaper in general.
What other advice do I have?
I would definitely recommend this product. We like Amazon products.
I would rate Amazon CloudFront a nine out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
