We performed a comparison between Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse, Oracle Exadata, and Teradata based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Snowflake Computing, Oracle, Teradata and others in Data Warehouse."Data collection and reporting are valuable features of the solution."
"Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse provides good firewall processing in terms of response time."
"I like Data Warehouse's data integrity features. Data integrity is what databases are made for as opposed to spreadsheets."
"The solution's integration is good."
"The most valuable feature for me is querying."
"It is not a pricey product compared to other data warehouse solutions."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is performance."
"It is a very stable database."
"Oracle Exadata has very good hardware."
"Compression is a great feature, where one can really save a lot of storage."
"What I like best about Oracle Exadata is its good performance. It's also a very fast solution."
"It is the best solution for OLTP and data warehousing."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle Exadata is the smart scan. We have large TB sessions of approximately 100 per second for each of our three instances. The smart scan allows us the obtain data in time in the enterprise manager."
"Regarding features, there are so many that we can offer to customers. When we sell Exadata Cloud, there are many options to choose from, especially when it comes to enterprise database options. In my experience, the main features that are appreciated are various ones like GPS and the assortment of security options."
"Oracle Exadata is stable."
"Exadata's best features are its performance during redo logging and the elasticity of the database handling."
"Teradata has good performance, the response times are very fast. Overall the solution is easy to use. When we do the transformation, we have all of our staging and aggregation data available."
"Teradata can be deployed on-premise, on the cloud, or in a virtual machine, which means customers can move without having to create their architecture all over again."
"It has a solid set of tools and consulting services."
"Viewpoint, the detailed query logs and performance statistics are valuable features."
"A conventional and easily defined way to build a data warehouse or a layer of data marts."
"Their extensive experience in data warehousing, the platform's performance, and their strong reputation in the market are the most valuable."
"The key advantages are Performance when processing Terabytes of data and scalability."
"Things have started moving faster in my company, such as data retrieval happens more quickly."
"I would like the tool to support different operating systems."
"We'd like to see it be a bit more compatible with other solutions."
"The product must provide more frequent updates."
"It could be made more user-friendly for business users which would increase the user base."
"The solution is expensive and has room for improvement."
"In the future I would love to see a slightly better automation engine, just for the data integration layer, to make it slightly easier for end-users or junior developers to get involved in incremental updating."
"The product does not have all of the features that the native products have."
"I think that the error messages need to be made more specific."
"The solution lacks a visualized console."
"It would be nice to have a single click button to, say, migrate my VMware VM into the Oracle VM, or vice-versa."
"Exadata would be improved with single dashboard visibility."
"A room for improvement in Oracle Exadata is that it's not very easy to use in a microservices environment. It's not easy to split databases, and if this was easier to do in Oracle Exadata, it would make the solution better. What I'd like to see in the next release of Oracle Exadata is for it to become more modular, so you can use it in a context where the data layer is spread between many independent services."
"We need a monitoring tool which can in one place, where we can manage, monitor the entire Exadata components."
"We used the support from Oracle Exadata to complete the implementation."
"There is one aspect to Exadata that I dislike, and that's the inconsistency with other databases. When you try to get Exadata to function with another type of database like SQL, or others, there should be reliable and consistent operation. When this is improved on, we should start to see more applications growing the market."
"Oracle Exadata could improve by having faster data retrieval. We receive data at four or five seconds and want to reduce that number to one second."
"The solution is stable. However, there are times when we are using large amounts of data and we can see some latency issues."
"Teradata could improve by being less complicated. There are some aspects that are not available on the Unix server and a Unix system is required to access some data, such as in case of an emergency."
"I've been using the same UI for 20 years in Teradata. It could use some updating. Adding more stability around Teradata Studio would be outstanding. Teradata Studio is a Java-based version of their tool. It's much better now, but it still has some room for improvement."
"Teradata is an old data warehouse, and they're not improving in terms of new, innovative features."
"The cloud is the new challenge and the new opportunity."
"The SQL Assistant is very basic. This tool can be improved for usability."
"There is a need to improve performance in high transaction processes, as well as the reporting system."
"It could use some more advanced analytics relating to structured and semi-structured data."

You are asking about front end tools but you do not mention which ones. What you have are "database backends" and each has different features. The utilization will depend on what kind of expertise you have available else you will end up trying to implement say, Teradata on Exadata which may not give you the best solution. What are your criteria for success? Based on these you will have to evaluate each solution -- I am sure each vendor will be happy to set up the environment and work with your set of sampl,e data to show you have they evaluate against your criteria.
Given we partner with many or all of the above, or can get to them as we access all data, I have the following opinion - InfoBright is very new and probable to be sold long term. It is also an expensive subscription so presents highest risk to me. Exidata is Oracle - if you like Oracle and their style, it maybe ok, but then it is Oracle. Microsoft is Microsoft - tends to be cheap to acquire and expensive to implement and maintain. Teradata is pricey but of the group presents the least risk and the greatest number of front end partners. The product I represent is unique as it is designed for high complexity large numbers of users and data and runs inside Teradata taking better advantage of the architecture.
