We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"IBM Application Performance Management helped us increased our response time by 80% and cost 60% less.""Because we have partnerships with other partners, I can share a bit about what I've noticed with IBM APM compared to other vendor solutions. Specifically, with IBM, the visibility into detailed process information is more tangible. On the OS level, APM displays all processes (or the top 10 processes) that are consuming CPU or resident memory. This is the most important thing that is not always available with other vendors.""The most valuable feature is the breakdown that it provides, such as a description of the fields for a particular transaction.""The transaction tracking feature from IBM is the most important feature for us. It is something that provides a terrific value for us and our clients. It has a lot of data sources and agents that are collectors. It is also stable.""The initial setup was straightforward and took minimal effort.""I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten.""It's easy to use."

"The ability to track performance of an application or application suite over time is extremely valuable to our business partners and for our application development team with near real time results.""At a glance I can easily see what is going on with all of my VMware environments, including top consumers of resources.""With the APM you can replay the end user session and see issues quickly by viewing the session.""Dell Foglight does analyze and optimize your virtual infrastructure. It definitely reduces operational cost.""Intuitive, Single-pane-of-glass dashboards for real-time statistics and long-term statistics for capacity management and in-depth analytics""Capacity on database and file servers. I found the algorithms to forecast growth and concerns particularly intuitive.""Real time database monitoring and alerting are valuable.""It provides a history of the activities on our SQL servers."

Cons
"Its web user interface is a little bit old in comparison to other solutions, such as New Relic, and it should be improved. Its scalability and technical support should also be improved. Currently, it is scalable, but only in a vertical way. They provide good technical support, but the initial steps for a new case can be improved to fasten the resolution process.""The stability is not great and should be better.""They should focus on potentially enhancing the dashboard to make it more contemporary and adding some customization options. Furthermore, there might be room for improvement in the pricing policy.""It's still missing some platforms. For example, if you look to applications itself, it is missing the interface.""The demo that was provided to us is not working very well. At times, there are errors.""Technical support can be slow and needs improvement.""With APM, we noticed that the agent can cause a lot of issues for the application, making the agent very unreliable. Many issues are happening, and we've had to discuss it with support to try and get a fix. It affects application availability, and sometimes actions fail because of the agent, degrading the performance of the application."

"We are running a Webmethods stack (Software AG) and Foglight is unable to instrument. We are in a POC with Dynatrace and it was able to instrument with little effort.""I think installation and setup needs little more improvement especially when you are installing with external database.""I want to see mobile access application in the next release.""They need to improve the stability of FxM and FxV.""Being able to incorporate other bespoke monitoring into Foglight would have made the tool even more useful.""My only complaint from Foglight for monitoring is that you only get a plot for five minute average for metrics like CPU and Memory, on the application side I can see metrics more quickly at 15 seconds for metrics like active sessions, heap. I would like to see the same for CPU and memory.""It needs a more intuitive way to create and implement custom "Cartridges" to be deployed through out a Federated environment.""I want to see a new interface that contains HTML5 features. The current version of Foglight (on-premise edition) is so fusty in comparison with leaders of Gartner APM Quadrant - i.e. Appdynamics, NewRelic, Dynatrace."
