Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, Nutanix, VMware and others in HCI."The primary purpose of this software is to create a virtual SAN between local storage on Hyper-V hosts. I find this feature most valuable since it accomplishes this quite well."
"I save both physical and virtual space."
"A great feature is that I basically set it and forget it, as everything is automatic."
"It has great free trials that allow end users to test a large variety of their products before deciding to buy the full product."
"It also provides a seamless and efficient solution for personal storage requirements, showcasing the versatility and scalability of my Virtual SAN configuration."
"Ten gigabit Ethernet compatibility, support, ease of use, and management are some positive features."
"The install itself is easy as pie."
"The StarWind products have enabled our organization to modernize stations where larger and more expensive equipment was not an option."
"It allows you to take advantage of the unique platform of computing, cloud management, storage, and integrated networks, as well as software-defined data management, which is easy to use. "
"The whole backup capability, where we are able to create backups and restore backups in typically 40 to 50 seconds, has been great."
"The most valuable features of this solution are the backup rate and the backup transfer."
"I have saved time and money by moving to the platform."
"The most valuable feature for us is its integration, as it provides an entire solution in a single box."
"SimpliVity works well in a UAT environment.."
"The solution has eliminated the need for overprovisioning. It is designed to take advantage of deduplication strategies, which means we don't have to have as much disk in the system to do the job that we used to have to do."
"The HyperGuarantee is unique and the accelerator card is the primary IP with the product."
"The single-pane-of-glass VMware interface makes configuration and management easy so you do not need IT specialists."
"I found that certain browsers are not fully compatible with the administration web access portal."
"The documentation is good. However, if compared with competitors, it could be enhanced and made more professional."
"The documentation can be better for the free tier."
"In the next release, they could make some graphs of the real-time loading, speed of storage, and interfaces. Of course, these can be viewed in other places. But, in the event of a malfunction or troubleshooting, this would be convenient."
"The only point they should improve is the amount of documentation available for the user, especially in the first preliminary phase in which we were testing the product on our own."
"The reconnection of the attached drives upon a reboot could be improved."
"I wish there was online support because email return takes a long time and a faster solution should be found."
"They need to invest more in the support documents for real issues happening when integrating the solution with the hypervisor."
"SimpliVity needs to improve the support for native backups, like SQL and Exchange."
"Once you select the size of SimpliVity, it could be risky for you to downsize it because you may need maybe to reimplement some things."
"It crashes often. When one particular VM has random, large IOPS requests, it will bog down the node, and there isn't enough time for the replica to be brought up. So all the VMs on that one particular node will essentially become offline."
"There is a file size limitation when you want to do an individual file restore, but they might have resolved this in newer versions. As I'm taking backups at the VM server level, I can restore a file from any one of those without standing up the VM, and I can restore it to any mounted VM that I want. The problem is that there is a file size limitation. It becomes problematic when I'm trying to restore. When I want to restore a backup of a SQL database, my backups are considerably larger than 10 gigs. So, the only way to restore that backup file is to mount the entire VM somewhere and then copy it, which doesn't take long at all."
"There is room for improvement in the operations area because the support for that server space is minimal."
"The centric management could be simplified or more user-friendly."
"Integration with external solutions outside the HPE posed challenges."
"The technical, commercial, and marketing support is not at the level that it should be. They are not structured well. Other vendors provide better support, such as Dell."
"A new company took over the product and now the support for Maxta has gone way downhill."
