We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable aspect of this solution is the integration with their other systems. It's easy to understand and it points out the relevant problems in the enterprise.""Synthetic transactions, WMI and SNMP query capability.""The product is very useful to find problems in middleware for the application servers, especially agent instrumentation and management is user friendly.""Transaction Tracing is the most useful. Being able to have the transaction stitched together so we can see where the problem is has proven invaluable.""Browsermetrix, which is real-user monitoring via JS injection and linked back to TTW via cookie. It allows us to see the experience of every user hitting our sites and analyze performance by region, browser, etc.""The capability of analysing each individual transaction captured to a very low level detail (method call/line of code).""We just control on the backend of AppInternals what we want to instrument and what we don't want to instrument.""I like it that one can match IPs with the application name."

"I like that it gives you a wide range of data where you can see the application outage response from concurrent locations and the number of stalled jobs.""The most valuable feature of Broadcom DX Application Performance Management is its very light model with monitoring of servers and network items.""The CA tools allow to me to get into detailed transactions for custom ranking, and be able to make predictions. It also gathers data. Some other tools may be good at one area, but not good overall, including the mainframe.""The executive dashboard we created gives a lot of visibility. There's no working on something for a little bit before someone knows.""The deployment was easy.""I have found Broadcom DX Application Performance Management to be scalable.""It's a very stable product.""The most valuable feature of Broadcom DX Application Performance Management for me is transaction monitoring. The technical support provided for the solution is also an advantage."

More Broadcom DX Application Performance Management Pros →

"The availability of the solution is its most valuable aspect. I can also Google anything I want and upload it on the cloud. I can do that using the mobile app. It is very helpful.""ORUEI lets you create a dashboard that shows you insight into the user experience.""The customers requires redundancy work to achieve a 99.999% uptime. To accomplish this, we installed this solution into storage. This setup ensures that if one node goes down, the system remains operational through another node. So that's the core aspect of the setup. Additionally, the schedule and the rental database run on servers, and behind these servers, we have storage. This storage operates as a single storage cluster, although there might be another storage option that costs around $30.""The most valuable feature is the ability to Drill down to webpage actions."

Cons
"I would like for it to have automated updates, the way the product updates itself should be all automated, as opposed to what it is now.""We'd like to be able to find out performance problems on application class and methods.""Support for PHP, DB and other applications need to be supported.""Deployment and agent patch management is not managed centrally, resulting in a large level of effort to update.""The technical support is not very good and should be improved.""It would be great if the solution could offer fixed bundles and more features.""The recording mechanism for synthetic transactions could be improved as well.""We have put in a request as an enhancement that we would like to search for items. If we're searching for a URL and we want to know was it a get or was it a post."

More Aternity AppInternals [EOL] Cons →

"The solution still needs the administrator of APM to know a lot more to configure and control everything. So it's a headache for the administrator to do the daily jobs.""The APM SQL feature doesn't perform like we would like it to. I know that's a new feature with 10.5, so it may be one of those things that gets a little better, but it should run faster.""You can sell licenses and install the full tool on service, you can show customers how to install, but how to use it and solve issues cannot be done without the experience.""In order for the tool to be successful, at least in our organization, it will need to have more self-serve features for implementation, instrumentation, and then modification of metric data from the APM.""Support could be much better.""I would like to see intelligence, deep intelligence or deep analytics.""Improve the targeting interface is to make it more user-friendly and current.""I would like them provide more guidance on specific tuning of monitoring options to avoid unacceptable overhead."

More Broadcom DX Application Performance Management Cons →

"The application resource usage has increased due to using RUEI.""It would be nice if the solution could be integrated with Outlook. If I'm signing any quotation, any proposal, or any of my communications, I should be able to update that Oracle application as well.""There are instances of imitation, like with processors. As customers, we aim to develop this area, particularly focusing on the networking facility and connectivity. The challenge lies in the connection between the DC and MDR, which is quite distant. The link between them needs to be reliable. When direct fiber isn't available, they resort to using dark fiber, which can lead to some limitations. This situation presents another layer of complexity, requiring approximately 11 feet of additional infrastructure. This is essential for ensuring that applications have minimal latency. In the event of any issues, an account is set up for cache memory to ensure that the system remains operational and can recover data from the cache as needed. Additionally, I have a secondary aspect to consider.""Currently, it monitors web applications well, but ORUEI doesn't monitor mobile applications yet. It would be nice if they also added the ability to monitor mobile apps."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The licensing model is expensive compared to its competitors, but the service it gives to your business, and the data quality, means that it's worth it."
  • "The licensing model for v9 is better where it is an individual license per server, while v10 licenses are per JVM/ .NET and server instance. The latter model appears to be the model that other APM vendors are using."
  • More Aternity AppInternals [EOL] Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Depends on the size of the product you need."
  • "Althougth it is a bit expensive, it is really worth it"
  • "There is some research needed to determine licensing costs, based on the number of DataPower instances for the Nastel agent, for example."
  • "Negotiate a lot, but do not forget to buy the product because it is worth it."
  • "Pricing and licensing are not issues."
  • "On pricing, CA is very competitive. I think that's going to help in the long run."
  • "Setup costs are quite competitive relative to other solutions, and simpler."
  • "Dynatrace is the most expensive of these tools followed by AppDynamics which is "medium-expensive." CA APM is a bit lower in price than either Dynatrace or AppDynanics... In my opinion, if you can afford it, go for AppDynamics instead of CA APM."

    Reviews from Real Users

“The most valuable feature of Broadcom DX Application Performance Management for me is transaction monitoring. “ A Peerspot user who is an Applications Engineer at a financial services firm.

“The most valuable features are the low overhead, the ability to monitor production on 24/7 principle, the ability to decrease time to discover the point of failure in the IT infrastructure or the application environment in a short period of time, reporting for analyzing the performance of the application for improving the code optimizing process.” A.Jurisic, CEO at Pio Pet d.o.o.

“What is most valuable about this solution is that it completely monitors code-level visibility. We benefit from this as we're able to capture any performance issues from an application, then raise and forward those issues to the applicable team more quickly.” S. Doddi, APM consultant at Tech Mahindra Limited
