Affordability and security improve our cloud experience while learning new systems
Pros and Cons
  • "I am very much satisfied with the technical support team at IBM Public Cloud."
  • "The connectivity and speed of IBM Public Cloud are much lower compared to the competition."

What is our primary use case?

Working with cloud solutions in general, specifically AWS and Azure.

I am completely new to IBM Public Cloud, so it is a learning experience here.

It has not been easy, and I did not have positive experiences with that tool compared to Azure or AWS, which I find more intuitive and better in some ways, such as performance-wise and stability.

It is more suited for hybrid clouds, hybrid and financial use cases in terms of architecture.

What is most valuable?

Feature-wise, financial industry and regulated industries are important, and it provides AI capabilities and workload management features.

IBM Public Cloud provides something that competitors don't: a part called DLDH, dedicated directly dedicated hosting. This is something that only IBM Public Cloud has, while all competitors don't have this capability.

What needs improvement?

The connectivity and speed of IBM Public Cloud are much lower compared to the competition.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with IBM Public Cloud for about 11 months.

How are customer service and support?

I am very much satisfied with the technical support team at IBM Public Cloud.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate them a nine, where one is worst support ever, and ten is best.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were actually planning to buy Juniper Mist, to be more specific, but we never used that solution.

Currently transitioning into cloud, I'm working on cloud solutions, so I'm moving away from SD-WAN now.

How was the initial setup?

The experience with the initial setup and configuration of this cloud is seamless.

It takes a couple of hours.

What other advice do I have?

I'm not working with any AI features in IBM Public Cloud, but they are in the process of building it.

I am very satisfied with the security that IBM Public Cloud provides.

I would rate IBM Public Cloud eight out of ten, where one is worst and ten is the best.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

IBM

Provides robust analytics and management tools but lacks support
Pros and Cons
  • "It provides robust analytics and management tools to give customers complete visibility into their environment and infrastructure."
  • "Support could be improved."

How has it helped my organization?

It offers services designed to meet a wide range of customer needs. It provides robust analytics and management tools to give customers complete visibility into their environment and infrastructure. With its diverse features, IBM Public Cloud aims to address various requirements and ensure a high level of service for its users.

What needs improvement?

Support could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IBM Public Cloud for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable and performs well. However, some issues may arise from time to time. Fortunately, they offer excellent support for both customers and partners.

I rate the solution’s stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Due to its competitive pricing and flexible solutions, it is well-suited for small and medium-sized businesses. Its cost-effectiveness and range of services make it attractive for businesses looking to scale and manage their cloud infrastructure.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support from IBM Public Cloud can be somewhat slow to respond, but overall, it is quite effective.

To receive support, you need to create a ticket. Response times can vary based on your subscription level, but it generally takes between 5 to 10 hours, or sometimes up to a day. This process is part of how you gain access to technical insights.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

AWS is more resilient and more robust than IBM.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is moderately easy due to its mix of classic and newer platform versions, including the VPC side. This combination can make it somewhat challenging to understand compared to other public cloud vendors like Google Cloud or AWS. As for provisioning VMs, it typically takes between two to five minutes, but not longer than that.

What was our ROI?

It provides a cost-saving solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The prices are relatively lower compared to others. It is a good option for medium-sized businesses. However, businesses should also consider other vendors to ensure they meet their specific security and feature requirements

What other advice do I have?

We also offer some managed services. Although we haven’t typically encountered issues as significant as the one we faced, after a thorough investigation, we were able to find a solution. We have implemented several services and have partnered with IBM.

The choice of solution often depends on the specific scenario, but if someone is looking for an economical option, I would certainly recommend IBM.

Overall, I rate the solution a five out of ten.
