Pros
"It's a very straightforward product that is well integrated with everything."

"When I started using Linode, I found its functionality easy to navigate, user-friendly and responsive to my needs. It provides clear reminders about services I'm not using, like DNS zones, which I appreciate.""When it comes to the Linode Kubernetes Engine and the amount of automation it provides, it's awesome, it's a game-changer. If a process randomly dies, it could take me a while to notice that it has died, if I haven't set up monitoring. With Kubernetes, it will just restart itself using Heartbeats.""The creation of instances is very good, as is their interface which is not complex and is easy to use. With the dashboard it is easy to create a new instance and add your favorite things. You can add Debian, Ubuntu, or CentOS, or any flavor of operating system. You can select the RAM for your instance as well.""The most valuable feature is the domain settings page.""Service availability is the most valuable feature. It gives every user 100 percent uptime.""Generally speaking, I have not found any faults using Linode. For what we wanted, they provided a complete solution.""The cloud management panel is nice.""Linode has many other cloud servers across the globe."

Cons
"In the next release, I would like to see better prices for the licenses."

More Cobalt Iron Cons →

"They recently changed the web interface and although the older one did not look as good, the new one is less responsive.""Its cost can be improved.""It would be nice if they had more data centers in Latin America.""I would like to see more seamless integration with backup, although it's pretty easy to do.""The only improvement in this aspect of the service which I can think of is perhaps a pool of developers who could be hired for those cases where the need goes beyond the support offered.""One thing that I'd really like to see is auto-scaling node pools for their Kubernetes. I don't think that they have that. That's a huge one and would be very helpful. Specifically, what I would like is auto-scaling node pools that would scale down to zero nodes, which is tricky. That's very important for certain use cases.""Before they changed the dashboard, I found some of the more granular options easier to find.""There is room for improvement regarding customer support."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I pay just over £20 per month and have done so ever since I started eight years ago, which to me is good value."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. I like the simplicity of it, starting at $5, then doubling as it goes up from there. That is a brilliant idea, and it is not complex at all. It is about as dead simple as you can imagine. So, if you want to double what you have, then you double your price, pay the money, and reboot. It is done. It's that simple. You can't beat that."
  • "One key difference is that pricing is very hard to come by and to understand with all the bigger companies. Their pricing models are so weird and it's hard to figure out exactly how much I am going to pay for this kind of service. Everything is piecemeal. With Linode, it's simple and straightforward. You know exactly what you will have to pay at the end of the day."
  • "Compared to other service providers, like AWS and Google, the cost of services are much less and more affordable. We are saving about 90 percent by going with Linode versus other cloud providers."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM."
  • "The value for the price is really good."
  • "Pricing is very good and flexible, according to the resources required."
  • "Being that they are small, their prices are slightly higher than the large providers like Amazon if you compare raw computing power."
