Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"There were no concerns with the stability. This product is very good from a stability perspective."

More Actian Pervasive Data Integrator [EOL] Pros →

"It is a go-to tool for data virtualization. The virtualization and data catalog are the features of why we chose Denodo.""Data mining is one of the valuable features. We're able to connect all of the data sources with the installed driver, so that is a good advantage in Denodo. Being able to join the tables and view them is also valuable.""The most valuable feature is the performance. Denodo is very useful, especially in this huge pharma environment. I've found that older SAP solutions were very tightly coupled to each other, which resulted in data restrictions. Getting data from different sources was tough and tedious. Compared to these old solutions, Denodo is very easy to work with for the analytical team. Now that we've implemented this virtualization layer, we are capable of getting the data very smoothly. We implemented a very small unit, but the performance and integration have been very good.""Denodo is lightweight in terms of how it leads you to combine your discrete data systems at one spot.""Overall, the product works quite well and has a good set of features.""The most valuable feature is Data Catalogs.""In general, it's good for us to make tests so we can scout the data.""The most valuable aspects of this solution are the short time frame in which you can deliver and connect."

More Denodo Pros →

"The most valuables features are the relatively short learning curve, and the automation capabilities provided through the BIML add-in for SSDT.""We can connect with multiple data sources easily using an external connector in SSIS.""We like that this solution includes a developer edition, free of charge, to allow for training.""The solution is easy to use and developer friendly.""It's a competent product.""I have used most of the standard SQL features, but the ones that stand out are the Data Flows and Bulk Import.""The most valuable thing is that it is easy to connect with Microsoft tools. In Europe, particularly in France, a lot of companies use Excel, SQL Server, and other Microsoft tools, and it is easier to connect SSIS with Microsoft tools than other products.""Built in reports show package execution and messages. Logging can also be customized so only what is needed is logged. There is also an excellent logging replacement called BiXpress that provides both historical and real-time monitoring which is more efficient and much more robust than the built-in logging capabilities. And none of this requires custom coding to make it useful unlike many other ETL tools."

Cons
"I am not sure if there are various connectors available in the recent version of Pervasive DI to support the wide range of sources available (e.g., big data, cloud, EME)."

More Actian Pervasive Data Integrator [EOL] Cons →

"I would like to see a proper way to avoid killing the sourcing systems.""We can't scale it to meet digital requirements.""Monitoring event logs can be improved. In the older version, there was a monitoring schedule to get event reports and properly audit the reports. In the newer version, it is not there, and we have to manually configure data and audit events.""There are a couple of areas that can be improved in Denodo. From a stability point of view, sometimes we see issues in the data management functionality. This only happens now and then, however, and usually takes place when we add in our own customization.""It would be beneficial to make sure that the team that will be using Denodo has some kind of training on how to use the product at least a month beforehand, and there could even be some kind of feedback or Q&A sessions to go along with the training. If Denodo were able to provide this kind of training, it would be very helpful to users in insurance and banking companies because the staff are typically older and not always technically-minded.""The support is not the best and should be improved.""Lacks integrations with AWS, GCP and the like.""The solution should have its own acceleration technology."

More Denodo Cons →

"The security could be improved, as it is more important in our context.""We purchase an add on called task factory primarily to allow bulk delete, update and upsert capability. I'd like to see this be part of the standard package.""I would like to see more features in terms of the integration with Azure Data Factory.""At one point, we did have to purchase an add-on.""The solution should work on the GPU, graphical processing unit. There should also be piping integration available.""Improving the login procedure would make our reporting easier on monitoring our ETL processes.""Options for scaling could be improved.""A change in the metadata source cripples the whole ETL process, requiring each module to be manually reopened."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "The licensing should be improved, as the cost per connector is quite expensive."
  • "I don't know the actual cost, but it's tens of thousands of dollars per month."
  • "The licensing charges for this solution are payable annually."
  • "The pricing is pretty good, and I would rate it at four out of five."
  • "Cost wise, on a scale from one to five, with one being the cheapest and five being the most expensive, Denodo would be at three. We get all the features in a bundle."
  • "Depending on the size of the client you want to work with, it can be prohibitively expensive at times."
  • "There is an express edition and a licensed enterprise edition."
  • "Talking with my manager and others, nobody has complained about the pricing so far which is a positive sign."
  • More Denodo Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "This solution has provided an inexpensive tool, and it is easy to find experienced developers."
  • "My advice is to look at what your configuration will be because most companies have their own deals with Microsoft."
  • "This solution is included with the MSSQL server package."
  • "It would be beneficial if the solution had a less costly cloud offering."
  • "Based on my experience and understanding, Talend comes out to be a little bit expensive as compared to SSIS. The average cost of having Talend with Talend Management Console is around 72K per region, which is much higher than SSIS. SSIS works very well with Microsoft technologies, and if you have Microsoft technologies, it is not really expensive to have SSIS. If you have SQL Server, SSIS is free."
  • "We have an enterprise license for this solution."
  • "It comes bundled with other solutions, which makes it difficult to get the price on the specific product."
  • "All of my clients have this product included as part of their Microsoft license."

Technology has made it easier for businesses to organize and manipulate data to get a clearer picture of what’s going on with their business. Notably, ETL tools have made managing huge amounts of data significantly easier and faster, boosting many organizations’ business intelligence operations There are many third-party vendors offering ETL solutions, but two of the most popular are PowerCenter Informatica and Microsoft SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services). Each technology has its advantages but there are also similarities on how they carry out the extract-transform-load processes and only differ in terminologies. If you’re in the process of choosing ETL tools and PowerCenter Informatica and Microsoft SSIS made it to your shortlist, here is a short comparative discussion detailing the differences between the two, as well as their benefits. Package Configuration Most enterprise data integration projects would require the capacity to develop a solution in one platform and test and deploy it in a separate environment without having to manually change the established workflow. In order to achieve this seamless movement between two environments, your ETL technology should allow the dynamic update of the project’s properties using the content or a parameter file or configuration. Both Informatica and SSIS support this functionality using different methodologies. In Informatica, every session can have more than one source and one or more destination connections. There are… Read more →
