  • "The interface usability needs improvement. It should be more user-friendly and easier for customers to use."

What is our primary use case?

I help my customers to install and integrate NetApp SnapCenter. The solution is used for central consolidation of NetApp devices and for snapshots and restore.

What is most valuable?

NetApp SnapCenter is valuable for its central administration of all NetApp systems. Additionally, it facilitates central consolidation and managing snapshots and restores. The product is very stable and easy to install, which saves a significant amount of time during deployment.

I have been using the solution for six years.

Enables us to save data for data projection but could improve its integration with other backup solutions
Pros and Cons
  • "You can quickly deploy new virtual environments. It provides efficient and easy-to-use data protection. If a file goes missing or corruption occurs, you can restore it swiftly using the snap restore feature, allowing you to return to work almost immediately."
  • "SnapCenter could improve its integration with other backup solutions, such as Veeam."

What is our primary use case?

SnapCenter is mainly for the backup environment, allowing you to save data for your data projection.

What is most valuable?

You can quickly deploy new virtual environments. It provides efficient and easy-to-use data protection. If a file goes missing or corruption occurs, you can restore it swiftly using the snap restore feature, allowing you to return to work almost immediately.

What needs improvement?

SnapCenter could improve its integration with other backup solutions, such as Veeam. While SnapCenter works well for backup, some users prefer to use their existing backup products. Although integration with Veeam is possible, there can be occasional issues where the process does not work as smoothly as desired.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using NetApp SnapCenter as a contract deployment engineer for six to seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

I rate the solution’s stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is very scalable. It is very flexible and scalable in a cluster environment. Three users are using this solution.

We use it weekly because of its automation capabilities. It regularly checks to ensure everything is backed up and snapped. Additionally, it provides monitoring and reporting features.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy enough, but you get stuck on some of the menus. Otherwise, it's fairly easy enough to get to work.

Depending on customer requirements, if they have a schedule in place and clear objectives for how they want to use it, the process can be completed within a day. Otherwise, it might take a couple of days.

I rate the initial setup a seven out of ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy.

What about the implementation team?

I did the deployment in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

NetApp SnapCenter is highly efficient because it allows you to automate the creation of snapshots. Instead of manually creating snapshots using IMS or HMS, you can schedule and automate them, specifying the timing and frequency. This eliminates the need for daily manual intervention and streamlines the process. SnapCenter also enables you to assign specific user roles to manage these tasks, enhancing efficiency.

SnapCenter ensures that your LPOs and RTOs are extremely quick. Although it may seem expensive initially, after using it for a while, you'll appreciate the efficiencies and gains it provides.

I recommend the solution.

Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
