Centralized workflows have streamlined HR tasks and save significant time in daily operations
Pros and Cons
  • "Around 30 to 40% time savings have been achieved in HR-related tasks such as onboarding, approval, and report generation."
  • "Workday can be improved in terms of reporting and customization. Sometimes it is difficult to create custom reports and requires extra effort or support."

What is our primary use case?

Workday is primarily used for HR operations such as employee data management, payroll processing, leave tracking, and requirements. On a daily basis, it is used to manage employee records, approve requests, and generate basic reports.

A recent example occurred when a new employee joined the organization. Workday was used to check the onboarding workflow, verify employee details, and ensure all required documents were uploaded. Coordination with HR was completed to ensure payroll and system access were properly set. On a typical day, I log in to Workday to review pending requests such as leave approvals or employee data changes.

Within the team, Workday's automation features are utilized to reduce manual coordination between HR and IT, especially during onboarding and role changes. Everything is tracked in one place, which makes the process faster and more transparent.

How has it helped my organization?

Workday has had a positive impact on the organization by improving efficiency and reducing manual work. Since everything is centralized, it has saved time in managing employee data, payroll, and approvals.

Around 30 to 40% time savings have been achieved in HR-related tasks such as onboarding, approval, and report generation. Processes that previously took hours or even a full day can now be completed much faster.

What is most valuable?

The best features of Workday are its centralized system, real-time reporting, and automation. Everything such as HR, payroll, and employee data is available in one place, which makes management easy.

Having all employee data in one place has helped the team save time and reduce errors. Previously, multiple systems were required for payroll and leave, but now everything is centralized in Workday.

Another useful feature is workflow automation. It helps automate approvals and reduce manual follow-ups. Notifications and alerts are also very helpful as they keep the team updated on pending tasks. Overall, these features make daily operations smoother and more efficient.

What needs improvement?

Workday can be improved in terms of reporting and customization. Sometimes it is difficult to create custom reports and requires extra effort or support. The user interface can also be confusing in some areas, especially for new users. Additionally, integration with other systems can be complex, and the pricing is quite high. Improving these areas would enhance the overall experience.

One challenge is that the system can be slow at times, especially when generating reports or loading large data. Additionally, some workflows require multiple steps which could be simplified.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Workday for the last three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Workday is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Workday is highly scalable and works well for growing organizations. Since it is a cloud-based platform, it can handle increasing data and transactions without major challenges.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support is good, though it is sometimes delayed.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

An on-premises system was previously used. The switch to Workday was made to move to a cloud-based solution that offered better scalability, automation, and centralized data management. The old system required more manual work and had limited reporting capabilities, so Workday helped improve efficiency and provide better real-time insights.

What was our ROI?

A good return on investment has been achieved with Workday. Around 30 to 40% of time has been saved in HR-related tasks such as onboarding, approvals, and reporting. It has also reduced manual work and the need for additional people for these repetitive tasks. ROI is primarily seen in time saving, around 30 to 40%.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Workday, other options such as SAP SuccessFactors and Oracle HCM Cloud were evaluated. Workday was selected because it offered a more user-friendly interface, better integration capabilities, and a strong cloud-based architecture compared to other options.

What other advice do I have?

Clearly understanding business requirements before implementing Workday is important, as it offers many features and modules. Proper planning and configuration are important to get the best value. I would rate this review as an 8 out of 10.

Decades of use have delivered secure, customizable control for public sector operations and finance
Pros and Cons
  • "I have not found another product that even comes close to PeopleSoft."
  • "First-level support is poor, but second-level support has been fantastic."

What is our primary use case?

I work with many industries, and my most recent work was in the public sector. Currently, I am helping a public sector client manage the supply chain and operations. I deal mostly in operations, inventory, supply chain management, as well as on the finance side, including general ledger, accounts payable, and purchasing.

What is most valuable?

The customizability to exactly match the requirements of the customer is what I appreciate about PeopleSoft.

PeopleSoft is entirely flexible internally within the ecosystem and is completely customizable with delivered integrations to many other third-party products.

PeopleSoft enforces the rules, so nobody can bend the interpretation of any regulatory requirement.

I have not found another product that even comes close to PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft can secure a page, a table, a process, down to the field if required. It is fantastic at security.

What needs improvement?

More delivered artificial intelligence functionality in operations and finance would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have worked with PeopleSoft for more than twenty years.

How are customer service and support?

First-level support is poor, but second-level support has been fantastic.

I would say their support is not only through person and email response but includes invaluable documentation. Everything in PeopleSoft is documented, and quite often, I can find my answers through the documentation. I have not found any other enterprise resource planning systems that are as well documented or as easily searchable as PeopleSoft.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not used JD Edwards in the last year. I am familiar with it, but not as familiar as PeopleSoft.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is customer-specific, so I am not generally privy to what the pricing for licensing is. However, generally, I think PeopleSoft is certainly cheaper than cloud solutions.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I moved away from Dropbox, Dropbox Sign, and Dropbox Enterprise a while ago, so I have no idea what they are doing now. I am in the last month starting to look at Odoo, which is a financial enterprise resource planning system.

What other advice do I have?

I have just completed three assessments: one on inventory demand planning, another on using artificial intelligence to bring supplier contracts in portable document format directly into PeopleSoft.

PeopleSoft works both internally as well as with third-party products that integrate seamlessly with PeopleSoft.

PeopleSoft operates both from a need-to-know-only basis as well as being able at the same time to do group purchase and realize large quantity purchase discounts.

My clients have used marketplaces, and it is really industry-specific whether they use one or not, or if there is even one available.

I would rate this product nine out of ten.
