Particularly helpful in securing sensitive data shared among students and teachers in the educational sector
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Microsoft Copilot for Security is the protective sensitivity labels. This feature is particularly helpful in securing sensitive data shared among students and teachers in the educational sector."
  • "The pricing and setup costs are a big struggle in the Netherlands. We have an educational school agreement for seven years, but there are additional charges for the setup of licensing, especially for students and teachers."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Copilot for Security in the educational sector to secure students and teachers. We are running a pilot with 20 teachers and 100-150 students. The next step is to scale it up for the rest. We have the educational school agreement, and we utilize Microsoft Copilot for Security to protect sensitive information.

How has it helped my organization?

We are in the first phase of our maturity model, so we haven't reached the evaluation stage. Copilot is one building block in our whole security system. It's a single brick in a solid security base. I think it has reduced our resolution time, but I don't know yet.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Copilot for Security is the protective sensitivity labels. This feature is particularly helpful in securing sensitive data shared among students and teachers in the educational sector.

At the moment, I have not identified any areas for improvement. I am aware that security features are planned for further development next year.

I have been using Microsoft Copilot for Security for two years.

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We only use Microsoft Defender with the E5 licensing for security and also Copilot Security.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup involves some challenges due to the additional pricing for students and teachers as part of the school agreement.

What about the implementation team?

We are cooperating with Microsoft in the Netherlands and MVPs for the Copilot situations.

What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment from using Microsoft Copilot for Security.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing and setup costs are a big struggle in the Netherlands. We have an educational school agreement for seven years, but there are additional charges for the setup of licensing, especially for students and teachers.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate Microsoft Copilot for Security an eight out of 10. There are some areas where it can be improved, but I am satisfied.

Offers good security and integration capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "We find it secure. The security guardrails that have been set for it to explore and get the required information are working flawlessly."
  • "It has been wonderful for us with Microsoft Copilot, especially when trying to find information within the organization."

  • "One of the pain areas I have with Microsoft is that most of the security gets checked in only with E5."

What is our primary use case?

We are one of the earlier adopters of Microsoft Security Copilot. The security piece of Microsoft Security Copilot has not been operationalized.

We are primarily targeting our IT project managers and program managers with Microsoft Copilot to make their lives easier. Especially from an implementation standpoint, we have got reports feeding and capturing minutes of meetings. This reduces the manual effort.

What is most valuable?

We find it secure. The security guardrails that have been set for it to explore and get the required information are working flawlessly.

Integration with email and documents is valuable. It has been wonderful for us with Microsoft Copilot, especially when trying to find information within the organization. It is doing a fantastic job and has established how securely it can process the data.

What needs improvement?

One of the pain areas I have with Microsoft is that most of the security gets checked in only with E5. There is a very limited set of things one could do with E3. For a large customer, moving from E3 to E5 is a significant investment. I do not have that luxury today to switch, but Microsoft needs to give at least some kind of à la carte option between E3 and E5, maybe an E4, to cherry-pick from E5.

Excel calculation is something I would want Microsoft Copilot to improve. It cannot do every calculation that OpenAI can do when given a problem statement. Considering that Excel is the home ground for Microsoft, we should be able to do a lot more in Excel. That would benefit us largely. I find myself often going back and forth, solving problems. I have to use ChatGPT, which is pretty accurate, but when I try to give the same commands with Microsoft Copilot integrated into Excel, it is less effective.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would assess the stability and reliability as a nine out of ten. It is very reliable for us.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's pretty light. We started off with 500 users, and we might go up as we are roughly about 40,000 users with a couple of use cases. We have plans to expand. There has been a lot of interest among people in both the IT and business sides of the organization. This gave us a fair idea of the sweet spot in terms of the licenses we might end up with.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate their customer support a nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using a different solution. That was the beginning of our AI journey.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate it an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud
