Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Microsoft Purview's primary benefit lies in safeguarding sensitive and confidential data, thereby mitigating the risk of internal data exfiltration.""Purview helped us automate and control our data without having to rely on people to manually tag documents with specific retention periods.""My favorite features are eDiscovery and insider risk management, because these are the major threats to an organization that can't be easily traced.""The cataloging tool is definitely the most valuable... It tells you about all the data you have in your tables, which helps people understand our data. We now know what data we have.""The product has helped us save both time and money.""Microsoft Purview is scalable.""The e-discovery search is useful.""Purview helps mitigate risk and allows us to govern the information being shared among apps and devices."

"Veritas Data Insight has been instrumental in managing and categorizing data across our storage repository. The tool identifies valuable business data and distinguishes it from non-essential data. This capability empowers us to separate and exclude unnecessary data from our long-term retention strategy. Its valuable feature is alert mitigation.""Data Insight is a good product to do everything. It is kind of transparent to administrators. It is also a very good solution with regards to GDPR compliance and regulations. Veritas is a well-established company, and it has a long legacy. Veritas solutions have expected stability and flexibility. It supports most of the flexible solutions in the market and has support for data protection, data monitoring, and things like that. In these ransomware times, it is a very important company with good solutions.""The stability has been great.""The most valuable features of Veritas Data Insight are the ease of use, one console deployment for the administration, and backups that can be done in minutes. It is a very fast solution."

Cons
"The custom data classification for the African region needs to be improved.""Frequent daily updates from Microsoft can cause interface elements like buttons to appear and disappear, making navigation unpredictable.""As Microsoft Purview got a little more mature, the deployments got a little more complex, as we were kind of seeing that there are a lot of ways, like there were a hundred ways to do one thing or less.""The product must provide better integrations with OS X and iOS.""I'd like to see them improve the training for implementing this type of solution.""Overcoming certain control issues would significantly enhance our overall satisfaction.""The API needs some improvement when connecting to non-Microsoft API sources. This is a limiting factor.""I lose a little bit of that control when we're talking about third-party connectors. Compliance-wise, I would like to see more ability to audit from a user perspective, where I could extrapolate what the user was thinking or trying to do."

More Microsoft Purview Cons →

"Veritas Data Insight can improve the price.""The nature of both data processing and start processes often involves varying timeframes for retrieval, mainly dependent on the historical data being accessed. When the request involves pulling information from six months or two years ago, the process may take longer.""Its deployment can be a little bit complex. It should be easier to set up. The ease of use of this solution can also be improved, and it could have a cleaner, up-to-date, and intuitive GUI. There are a lot of competitors out there with much nicer GUI and easier setup. It should have a better connection with the cloud sources and much more monitoring. I would like to have a single management interface for on-premises and cloud deployments so that we don't have to switch between them. Its technical support can also be a little bit better.""The solution is not lacking any features at this time."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is moderate. It's not too expensive, but it's not the most competitive."
  • "Microsoft Purview is the best option I have encountered when it comes to price. Maybe some of my information is outdated, but Microsoft offered it so that you could use it almost without paying."
  • "There is some competition out there, but the other solutions are quite expensive. They are enterprise tools that are a bit more mature but the license costs $100,000 for some of them. Purview is pay-per-use and a lot of companies are interested in that."
  • "Aside from the complexity of the pricing model, the price itself is realistic. Features like AI components and automatic classification require additional licenses. Still, anyone can start using Purview with a basic E3 license if they're using Microsoft 365 and grow with additional licenses as needed. Overall, we're satisfied with the price."
  • "Its pricing is good in terms of the features that they are providing, but there are many competitors in the market who can easily provide you with similar services at a lesser cost."
  • "The categorization within the licensing could be improved. There are a lot of solutions within Microsoft Purview. If the licensing could be a bit clearer and the solutions could be better categorized according to function and across multiple environments, that would be excellent. The licensing is very confusing."
  • "Price-wise, I think it's very generous and accessible to not just enterprises but small to medium-sized companies as well. I think it's very fair in terms of how they break apart the storage and the actual computing, and that makes it very accessible. So, that is a very big plus for Purview."
  • "Some people find the tier licensing system complicated, but it offers a lot of value for money if we use the features."
  • More Microsoft Purview Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Licensing is based on the number of users or the usage in terabytes."
  • "It is my understanding that the license with one year of support is, per user, around 25 Euros."
  • "The price of Veritas Data Insight could improve, it is expensive."
  • "For Veritas Data Insight, the usage is based on a per-terabyte model. The annual cost for this usage is approximately one million dollars. It would be roughly 50,000 dollars to provide a more accurate equivalent."

    Reviews from Real Users

PeerSpot reviewer Kelly B., Solution Specialist at LobsterPot Solutions, says, “We're building a new system from scratch for our clients and wanted to include data governance. Their solution is hosted in Azure and it seemed logical to go with something that fits with that. Purview has a pretty good interface and I'm satisfied with what the solution does and the price it's being sold at. It integrates well with Azure technologies.” She also adds, “The initial setup was very easy, that's part of the appeal.”
