We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The dashboard is very simple. It has an easy to use interface.""The solution is very good at preventing intrusions. You can definitely rely on this solution to cover your security.""The biggest thing, for us lately, has been their cloud tools. They're like Intercept X from Sophos, where they'll test for ransomware. Fortinet has the same sort of set up with their cloud devices. So your firewall picks up something suspicious, it sends it up to the cloud for analysis. We also have their in-house antivirus. Having different antivirus checkpoints throughout the network is a good thing as well.""We use it to protect files and to prevent users from browsing them while they are being used.""It is extremely stable, and can expand as per our needs due to its stability.""The most valuable features of this solution are the security aspects."

"The ability to track activity including the SQL statements is definitely valuable. I really like how the database is laid out. It's straightforward. I can query the back-end tables. I've made a few of my own email alerts based on the data and the tables. It's accessible.""The tool can track logins and login failures. I made my own alert so that if there is a certain number of login failures for a server, it emails me. That is really useful. If I want logins to automatically lock out after a certain number of failed attempts, I can know when that happens.""The initial setup was straightforward."

"Oracle Audit Vault has a lot of great features, but what I find most valuable is the database firewall.""The feature that I have found most valuable is that it can help us secure our databases.""The most valuable feature of Oracle Audit Vault is that it is agentless and enhanced user interface.""Our clients can see all of their past actions or the wrong activity done on the network. We can load the diagnostics for the business.""It has provided us with a unique opportunity to automate risk discovery.""Out-of-the-box policies ensure our compliance with standards like SOX, ISO 27001, and so on.""This solution acts as a complete data warehouse for our audit data.""A powerful, flexible solution for database traffic monitoring."

Cons
"I'm an old-school guy. I really don't like web GUI interfaces. They're always slow and laggy and their design is restricted, whereas a binary deployment for an admin tool is always faster, easier, more flexible. I would like that kind of functionality from Fortinet.""We had some issues trying to fix some critical bugs, such as the SSL encryption.""The pricing of this solution is a little bit on the high side and can be improved.""Some use case analyses could be improved.""They need to improve the web filter to make it more user-friendly.""I would like better APIs and integration with other products, like Python and SQL."

"I submitted a ticket (last year) about archiving/grooming of old records because the GUI functionality was not working. Per their recommendation, I ended up using a command line to do it.""The set up is kind of clunky, in my opinion. It's not really intuitive. If they had either a smoother install or better instructions, that would be nice.""There is an agent that collects the data on SQL Server. Sometimes it will stop collecting. I'm not exactly sure what's happening but I have to go in and manually restart the agent. It would be nice if the central collection server could send a request to the agent to restart.""Its filtration and navigation are not the best.""What would really a good thing is if you could refer to an external list or table for filtering on, say, certain applications, IP addresses, or host names; or perhaps even combinations of host name and application name."

More IDERA SQL Compliance Manager Cons →

"Customized reporting is something that we are struggling with, and it is quite tough for us.""The performance of Oracle Audit Vault could be improved, especially in handling large data collections and generating reports on time.""I hear from many people that say IBM Guardian is better than Oracle Audit Vault when it comes to performance. IBM Guardian works transparently in the database, but Oracle Audit Vault consumes some ratios on the server.""We would like to see the ability to administer and manage the solution through Enterprise Manager 13c, and development of the dashboards that are generally missing.""They should simplify the integration and work with different vendors and mechanisms.""This solution doesn't audit the network.""An easy, friendly user interface would be nice to have, since this would enable administrators to identify important events with a prompt response.""Stability could be improved, we have had some challenges"

    Overview

FortiDB software is a comprehensive database security and compliance platform that helps large enterprises and cloud-based service providers protect their databases and applications from internal and external threats. Its flexible policy framework allows you to quickly and easily implement internal IT control frameworks for database activity monitoring, IT audit and regulatory compliance.

SQL Compliance Manager helps database administrators to monitor, audit, and alert on SQL Server user activity and data changes. Unlike its competition, it provides quick configuration of audit settings, a broad list of regulatory guideline templates for audit settings and reports, before and after data values for both regulatory compliance and forensic data investigations, differentiation of data access and between regular and privileged users and applications, easy specification of and reporting on sensitive data columns access and changes, and extensive customization of audit settings for databases and servers.

Oracle Audit Vault monitors Oracle and non-Oracle database traffic to detect and block threats, as well as improves compliance reporting by consolidating audit data from databases, operating systems, directories, and other sources.
