Current Technology Interests:
• Application shift from clustered servers with shared storage to shared-nothing architectures with replication / erasure coding (what business problems can be solved in this manner?)
• Shared compute/storage architectures to handle transactional and analytic workloads (greatly reduced compute duplication)
• Making systems run FAST (OK, I have always loved this) without breaking the bank
• Architectures to maximize application availability and performance yet minimize complexity and lifetime costs (time, power/cooling, $$)
• Leveraging personal technology where it makes sense (mostly friends and family)
