What is our primary use case?

Our clients utilize Sophos Email to bolster their organization's email security. Some of these clients integrate Sophos Email with their firewall, while others opt for the cloud email option.

How has it helped my organization?

Sophos effectively blocks phishing and spam to a significant degree.

The AI-powered threat detection in Sophos Email has significantly benefited organizations by providing them with a high level of protection against email-based threats.

The Sophos Email interface is highly user-friendly, featuring a simple design with just the right amount of features.

In terms of effectiveness in the outfall scenarios, I would rate Sophos Email at about seven out of ten.

What is most valuable?

The feature of Sophos Email that we find most effective for detecting suspicious emails is primarily based on their signatures. However, compared to other solutions like FortiMail and Trend Micro Cloud Email, we rate its effectiveness slightly lower. Overall, while the signature-based detection works well, some users have reported occasional false positives, especially when integrated with the firewall. Nonetheless, the majority of customers using Sophos Email are satisfied with its performance.

What needs improvement?

I believe that Sophos Email is not as effective as FortiMail and Trend Micro. To address this, improvements can be made in rule-based functionalities, offering more tools and options to customers. Enhancing rule creation and customization features would provide users with greater control over their email security settings. Specifically, adding more custom rules would be beneficial in this regard.

I have been working with it for the last five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of Sophos Email is very high, rating it an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our customers, who are typically small to medium-sized businesses, rate the scalability of Sophos Email as seven out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate the support at eight out of ten. Overall, it has been satisfactory, although there have been occasional delays in response times.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Sophos Email was extremely straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment process takes less than an hour, and the system starts functioning immediately.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding the price, I would rate it at five out of ten. It falls somewhere in the middle—it's not excessively expensive nor very cheap. For the firewall subscription, the cost is less than one thousand, specifically for the on-premises subscription. As for the cloud subscription, I don't recall the exact price, but it's also relatively affordable.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Sophos Email, especially for small and medium-sized companies, due to its excellent pricing, simplicity, and effectiveness. It's a solution that works perfectly well for our needs in this market segment. Overall, I would rate it seven out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

We use Barracuda primarily as an email gateway. It also integrates with the Microsoft 365 platform.

It provides anti-spam protection and all the various anti-spam aspects of email management. We generally use it with products other than Microsoft, so we're very happy to have Barracuda available.

How has it helped my organization?

We have a good experience with it. We consider Barracuda very efficient and easier to manage than other products, especially Microsoft products.

What is most valuable?

I like that I have less work to do analyzing the spam and overall email flow. And when I need to analyze the traffic flow, I can always find answers to any issue.

I'm quite satisfied with the graphical user interface for Barracuda products.

Moreover, it has AI protection. Based on the results I've seen, I'm quite satisfied with the product. 

What needs improvement?

Regarding Barracuda Email Protection specifically, I'm quite satisfied. I think there's room for improvement in their other products, especially their cloud firewall protection and ZTNA offerings.

Moreover, prices could be more granular, especially for the small business area. Typically, in Italy, the majority of our customers are small businesses. It would be better if the prices could be adjusted for small businesses.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Barracuda products and have been for some years. We (my company) started with their on-premises solution and are generally trying to move to a cloud version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I consider it quite stable. Barracuda has efficient support in case of incidents, and we're satisfied. I'd rate it a nine out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'd rate it a nine out of ten for scalability. We have three customers, and we are trying to move other customers from on-premises solutions to Barracuda.

How are customer service and support?

The  customer service and support could be improved if the support were available directly in Europe. Currently, the support is often managed from India, so we sometimes need to wait due to the time zone difference. It would be quicker and better if the support were provided by European staff.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use Sophos mobile with one customer, and so far, we're satisfied.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is quite simple, but it does require a little training, as with all other products. Fortunately, Barracuda offers resources for that.

The deployment takes a day. It is very easy.

However, Barracuda integration's capabilities depend on the specific infrastructure. If you have Microsoft protection, the integration is quite good. We haven't had any problems when customization was needed.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Barracuda licensing model is good. The price could always be better.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Barracuda Email Protection to others, especially compared to Microsoft products.
