Stable, secure, with good deployment
Pros and Cons
  • "We have had no complaints about the stability."

What is our primary use case?

We use Collibra Catalog for the business glossary.

    What is most valuable?

We have found that Collibra Catalog is very easy to use. We suggest a small proof of concept because businesses look at things differently in different parts of the company.

    What needs improvement?

I think they can bring a few more features and align better with other quality products.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Collibra Catalog for one year now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not had many complaints about stability so I believe it is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Since I have only used the product for a year now I can not really comment on how scalable it is currently.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate Collibra Catalog an eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Neutral

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The setup is easy to implement in your market.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

    Microsoft Azure

Effective in terms of validating everything, but sometimes they don't allow us some flexibility and GUI could improve
    Pros and Cons
    • "It allows us to have proper documentation in terms of the databases."
    • "This product lacks artificial intelligence that should be very good in terms of automatically identifying the classification of elements."

What is our primary use case?

My use cases are more in terms of data modeling.

How has it helped my organization?

My organization primarily uses SAP PowerDesigner in data architecture projects.

    What is most valuable?

It allows us to have proper documentation in terms of the databases.

    What needs improvement?

It's really effective in terms of validating everything, but sometimes they don't allow us some flexibility if we compare it with other tools in the market. So, it's doing too many validations that are not necessary.

Also, on the graphic user interface, PowerDesigner could improve.

There is room for improvement in the UI.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for one year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

With the tests that we have done, the stability is around six out of ten, with ten being high stability and one being low stability. Because when we are trying to import all the tables, it takes a while and it doesn't capture all the details. So that's why.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are around six end users in my organization using this solution. They are Database Developers.

So, I didn't test the scalability of this solution. We didn't use the solution too much. It's more in an exploratory way now.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Erwin in the past. But it was bought by the company. So, the company had that solution, and that's why we were exploring PowerDesigner.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend SAP PowerDesigner to others for data architecture management. It provides all the functionalities in terms of data modeling, so it's also a good tool for that.

I see trends in terms of data classification, but I don't see this tool with the intelligence to do that automatically. So, like, with artificial intelligence.

Overall, I would rate the solution a six out of ten because there are too many validations.

Also, I found some gaps in terms of relationships; they didn't appear when you do reverse engineering.

Also, this tool lacks artificial intelligence that should be very good in terms of automatically identifying the classification of elements and maybe also to incorporate some artificial intelligence in providing descriptions for each data element included in the solution.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises
