Easy to use, protects applications, and the support team is responsive
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the solution’s ease of use."
  • "Our biggest challenge is that the Tomcat servers are not hosted locally."

What is our primary use case?

We use the tool for security. We use it to keep our applications on the web safe.

What is most valuable?

I like the solution’s ease of use. It is very easy to update certificates.

What needs improvement?

Our biggest challenge is that the Tomcat servers are not hosted locally. We have some contacts with companies that deliver the certificates to us.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two years. I am using the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability a ten out of ten. I have never had any issues with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is really good. We never had any issues when we added new servers. It's very scalable. I rate the scalability a nine out of ten. We have more than 1000 users.

How are customer service and support?

We never had any issues with support. The support team responds very quickly and solves all our issues. The support personnel are very professional.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The tool is deployed on the cloud. We do maintenance when certificates need updating, but we don't do the maintenance of the servers. We have about 20 engineers and administrators in our technical team. The deployment was very simple. We got a guide from Apache. Everything was explained very clearly. The deployment took a couple of days.

What other advice do I have?

I will recommend the product to others. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

The installation phase is very easy
Pros and Cons
  • "The product's installation phase is easy."
  • "Oracle's support team fails to understand the real problem of the customer, which is why they take time to resolve issues."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company since few customers use WebLogic applications and also since they have a few number of applications deployed on it.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes, some issues don't get fixed by Oracle's technical support team, and you need to invest time to fix them by yourself. Oracle's support team fails to understand the real problem of the customer, which is why they take time to resolve issues. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle WebLogic Server for seven years.

How are customer service and support?

If you use the base software, it is free. In our company, we don't have any support from Oracle. The support offered by the product is okay.

I rate the support team a nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The product's installation phase is easy.

The solution's deployment time frame varies from customer to customer, depending on their requirements.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My company uses a licensed version of the product, so we get Oracle's support.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Although Oracle WebLogic Server is very good, my company plans to move to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) after a year. My company will also have to deal with some PoC phases, especially for those customers who don't want to use Oracle WebLogic Server. Oracle WebLogic Server requires some licenses in OCI, and due to some cost-related limitations, our customers want to use some other alternate setup.

My company is comparing information between the servers from Tomcat and Oracle GlassFish Server on Google, especially since both offer open-source management. I have information about all the products, and I can take care of the installations associated with various solutions. I have a team in my company with whom I need to discuss Oracle GlassFish Server and Tomcat internally.

What other advice do I have?

I am just a technical team member that deploys and installs the tool.

The tool is not integrated with third-party products.

Overall, my company is satisfied with the performance offered by Oracle WebLogic Server.

The only problem with the businesses stems from the fact that nobody wants to pay to use the product on OCI. People prefer to use alternate tools that are available for free and offer great features. The aforementioned area consists of reasons why my company is searching for better options in the market.

I think it is good software and there are no issues if you use it. It is a good platform to support all the applications.

I rate the overall tool an eight out of ten.
