We performed a comparison between Dynatrace and WhatsUp Gold based on real PeerSpot user reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Dynatrace is the preferred choice over WhatsUp Gold due to its advanced features such as real user monitoring, session replay, and synthetic monitoring functionalities, as well as AI capabilities for automating incident alerts and the Kubernetes module for topology visualization. Additionally, Dynatrace provides good visibility and thorough scanning of services and applications with the ability to drill down and analyze traffic. Although WhatsUp Gold is stable and cost-effective, it lacks some of the advanced features and capabilities of Dynatrace.
"It helps our organization identify potential problems by doing thorough analysis of systems which integrate with one another."
"Whether it is the server, database, network, or application, Dynatrace provides a consistent unambiguous view of performance."
"It is very stable. The improvements that they keep making just make the tool more useful."
"In general, it has helped me go through different logs more easily when something breaks."
"Once you are trained on the solution, it's easy to navigate. It's got very good documentation and training offerings."
"We can be more productive and agile. It allows us to be more accurate when we need to work with bugs."
"The most valuable features are the UEM (User Experience Monitoring) and the DEM (Digital Experience Management)."
"It provides us a reference for being able to go back and look at data at a certain point, analyze it, then determine if something was the root cause."
"It is stable."
"The interface in the last few years it has been a lot greater, they are much more user-friendly. I like the interface."
"WhatsUp Gold is very easy to deploy."
"Auto scanning is most valuable. It looks for rogue devices on your network."
"The threshold alerting is the most valuable feature."
"The documentation is very good."
"The interactive mapping interface for scrolling, zooming, and drilling down on an element to learn about a network issue is good. When we see a network there will sometimes be a spot that has one link. You can go into a particular part of the topology map, scroll in, and see exactly which module it is."
"The most important features of WhatsUp Gold are the server health and uptime it provides. Additionally, WhatsUp Gold is a Windows-based solution which is a benefit."
"In regards to Diffie-Hellman encryption stuff, it is a hurdle with what we are doing with DC RUM, where everyone is embracing stronger security suites, but the whole point of DC RUM is to get that data between the tiers."
"I'd like to see native support, because we're launching native apps in multiple countries so we really want to have a really good feel for how those apps are going and how well they're performing, if there are issues."
"The usability is worse than it used to be."
"It needs education and training to ensure you get the full value of your purchase. Maybe add in a certification for Dynatrace."
"Most of the time, chat support is not good enough for answering queries."
"The AI is not that intelligent and there are different places where it could be even more automated."
"It needs improvement with proprietary protocols for the DC RUM part."
"We have had some struggles with scaling. We were on AppMon, and AppMon has its own monolithic drawbacks."
"Adding on services increases the cost and on the version we have there is no option for ATM monitoring."
"I would like to see better integration with switches so that you can see what is connected to each port, what the traffic is, and have a network map automatically generated."
"The new release cadence needs to be improved. It takes a while for them to add new features and functionality. There should be a quicker turnaround with new versions."
"I think there are a few bugs now. Although they give some resolution for this, we cannot share the network remotely because of our company policy."
"The pricing for this solution has gone up quite recently, which has led some of our customers to buy an alternative product."
"I would like to see them do an enhancement to the application monitoring. A lot of other products do better application monitoring so they should do some improvements to the application monitoring."
"Pricing is too high relative to how many devices we use. The price list is not linear to number of devices."
"The point system is not clear and clarity around this would improve our understanding of the system."
