Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.""I like FortiClient EMS. FortiEDR has a lot of great features like lockdown mode, remote wipes, and encryption. I can set malware outbreak policies and controls for detecting abnormalities. You can also simulate phishing attacks.""Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration.""This is stable and scalable.""The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers.""The stability is very good.""Fortinet FortiEDR made our clients feel secure and more at ease, knowing that they had an EDR solution that would close the gap in their security posture.""Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."

"The CS falcon agent is a lightweight agent compared with other agents of EDR products.""I like Falcon's threat detection and endpoint investigation features. It's a user-friendly solution.""The features we showcase to potential customers are prevention, malware protection, zero-day protection, and application scripting. Vulnerability assessment is another valuable feature.""It has definitely minimized resources. When everything was on-prem, there was a lot more work maintaining it. One of the big value tickets: I don't have lists of hundreds of exceptions for certain applications that I have to maintain, add, delete, and move. The very nature of the product has lessened my workload considerably.""Regarding features, I appreciate its integration capabilities with identity providers...Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""CrowdStrike Falcon's most valuable features are the lightweight agent which has absolutely zero performance issues. There is no performance deterioration on the laptop on the network. It is a signature-less antivirus and anti-malware solution, it doesn't depend on signatures which better protects the systems.""Scalability hasn't been an issue for us.""All the features are beneficial."

"I have found the ESET Management Console very good. It gives me many features, such as managing users and installing a new version.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the protection itself, which works well for us.""The tool offers great detection. You need time only to setup the environment. After that, it is just plug-and-play to get the solution up and running. We can also control the PC remotely from the cloud and get all the information in one place.""We use ESET, which is pretty much perfect for us. It is also absolutely simple and automatic once setup.""The product is quite affordable.""If it detects ransomware or something, it can isolate that computer.""What is great about ESET is the ERA Web Console through which we can pull various reports, monitor and administer all clients and servers, and the console is easy to use.""Technical support has been very good. They're quick to respond to any problems."

Cons
"We've encountered challenges during API deployment, occasionally resulting in unstable environments.""It takes about two business days for initial support, which is too slow in urgent situations.""We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels.""To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced.""Detections could be improved.""The security should be strong for the cloud. Some applications are on-prem and some are on the cloud. Fortinet should also have strong security for the cloud. There should be more security for the cloud.""I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers.""FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"The management of log aggregation is in need of improvement.""Whenever there is a feature release (upgrade) where we push to all the endpoints, it causes something to be blocked without us knowing.""It does take more time to scan than other solutions.""I would like CrowdStrike to provide some correlation in the threat analysis, so we can visualize things better.""If CrowdStrike can further expand its support for XDR compatibility, that would give it an edge over all the other competing new products.""On the firewall management side, there should be more granularity. There should also be more granularity for device control. Everything else is brilliant.""I would like them to improve the correlation of data in the search algorithms. When we run an investigation, malware, phishing, etc., I want to look at multiple endpoints at once to correlate that data to see the likenesses, e.g., how are they not alike or what systems and processes are running across those systems? I don't want to have to run the same search in their Spotlight module five, 10, 15, or 100 times to get 100 different results, copy that data out, and then correlate it on my own. In a very simple way, I want to be able to load up a comma-delimited list giving me the spotlight data on these X amount of hosts, letting me search for it quickly. We have had to go back to CrowdStrike, and say, "Our search are taking far too long for even one host." They did bump up the cores and that did improve performance, but it is still kind of slow to get that Spotlight data. That is probably our biggest pain point. I think that needs some help. I understand this kind of information access is probably not the easiest thing to do. It is probably a big ask depending on how their back-end is setup.""The biggest issue with Falcon as a standalone product is it doesn't have very much reporting."

More CrowdStrike Falcon Cons →

"The solution should offer more security surrounding blacklisted websites.""Its initial setup process could be more straightforward.""The interface is good. However, it could always be better. It could be more user-friendly.""There are some new antivirus technologies that rely on AI, artificial intelligence. ESET does not have this technology right now.""The proactive feature is excellent, but I do not believe ESET will make any changes to this feature in the future.""The product could have better integration with third-party products that would help extend functionality.""They should focus more on the offline market as well. Everybody is connected nowadays, and they want to do everything via cloud or fast internet connections, however, that's still not possible in many situations.""I saw a bunch of false positives which need to be fixed."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.

CrowdStrike Falcon offers advanced threat detection, real-time visibility, easy interface, and responsive customer support. It enhances workflow and efficiency, promotes collaboration, streamlines processes, and boosts productivity. With features like incident response options, customizable alerts, and proactive threat hunting, it helps protect organizations from malware and ransomware attacks.
