We performed a comparison between AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery and Rubrik based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Technical support has been very good. They usually respond quickly to our requests."
"We have never had any issues with scalability."
"It provides our disaster recovery solution. It works fine in our tests."
"It's on the cheaper side and not too expensive for users."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward, it's not complex."
"We went from an organization with minimal to no disaster recovery. I was able to spin up the disaster recovery environment with AWS rather quickly and meet business requirements."
"The solution is dependent on the network bandwidth. For example, if they have a bandwidth of 10Mbps the solution will run a little heavier. If the bandwidth is good the solution runs well."
"For regular backup and restore solutions, this product is fine."
"The product's most valuable feature is the immutability of a backup."
"It works with VMware and Hyper-V without agent installation."
"Rubrik's immutability feature ensures the security of our backups by preventing unauthorized alterations. The most effective feature for simplifying our data backup processes is the ability to perform on-demand or scheduled backups and restores, which greatly enhances manageability. The security and compliance features have had a positive impact on our data management practices. We utilize Rubrik not only for virtual machine backups but also for backing up approximately twenty terabytes of unstructured data, including file shares and documents. This allows users to easily restore deleted documents using the Soft Delete feature, depending on the backup frequency."
"Automation functions, image based backup, and the ability to instantly recover anything from files to databases."
"The security and the ransomware protection are most valuable."
"This is a centralized tool where we are able to schedule backups and perform monitoring."
"Time dedicated to backup was drastically reduced."
"Management is so simple that anyone can check the backups and do restores when necessary."
"The user interface, customer support, and the recovery time for the current customer query could use improvement."
"Definitely there should be better logging. From a customer perspective I would like to see more logs on what is happening. If there is an issue, I would like to know what the problem is. Right now, we have to depend on the support of the vendor to check and let us know, because we don't have access to a lot of logging information."
"Sometimes a server will get a bit behind. "
"The failback could be improved. It should be more intuitive."
"I have not seen any areas that need improvement at this time."
"I set up a test, deleted the source, and went to fail it back, and it didn't work."
"The bandwidth is a constant upload communication to the AWS DR environment, so if you do not have the proper bandwidth, it will definitely eat up your internet line."
"I would like to see better support for creating and working with archives."
"The interface is still slightly clunky and has room for improvement. They do work with us whenever we mention anything that needs to be done or anything that we want. We find that bringing up the management interface is a little slow and not as intuitive as we would like, but it's been getting better as it evolves."
"The main pain points we experienced was the stability of the system. We received a lot of instability when we have upgraded from a certain version to a new version. The newer version was completely filled with bugs and we needed to purge the system every week until we update to a newer version that was available one year later. The stability of the code is the main problem, they need to make it better."
"We would like to be able to do granular restores directly from Exchange. Also, more granular management of VM backups would help."
"Improving PowerShell integration would greatly simplify Rubrik management."
"The solution's reporting feature could be better."
"It needs to keep innovating to stay relevant in the data management field."
"If there was something that we could get Rubrik to fix, it would be when our DBS takes snapshots of a server or the database, the replication doesn't kick off fast enough. They can't remote it to the peer site and manipulate it back up in order to move it over, take a copy of production, slap it over, and test it out. As I understand, they are working on it. Replication works. We also get spoiled by how good things are now. We get to a point where it is so easy but when something isn't instant gratification, it seems that everything else is so amazing, why isn't this right?"
"Rubrik needs to continue to listen to their customers and what they want/need, not just care about money and the bottom line."
